Chapter 2: The Silent Street
After seeing the thing, a strong feeling of vomiting forced me to retch a few times. Fortunately, there is nothing left in the stomach to survive, and all that is spit out is some sour water.
It was obviously an unlucky guy caught by a zombie, and there was no intact part of its whole body that had been eaten, and in a few places it had even exposed its white bones!
The upper part of its body was under the eaves, and its legs had been washed away by the rain, and the broken places were all bloody, and they were a miserable color.
The strange thing is that such a corpse that has been dead for an unknown number of days has no rancid smell, and there is no green-headed fly biting and maggot wriggling. It's as if even they've backed away.
I was no longer retching, and suddenly, my hairs stood on end, and I was in a cold sweat!
Why is it here? It means that there were zombies outside the house when I didn't know it, maybe it was during the time I was unconscious!
And now, where are they? Are they still wandering around here?
I was stunned by myself, it seemed that I couldn't stay here any longer! If I went back to the grocery store, I would be even more terrified, afraid that I would kill myself.
Go!
I made up my mind that I would never look at the corpse again.
Where should we go? Let's get out of this small county town first.
I looked at an axe and a hammer pinned to my waist, and just now, I changed my equipment, and I thought that the blunt weapon would hit harder. And then the backpack behind it, and on the backpack there were four spears of my own making. I ran back to the grocery store, found some cardboard, and used large tape to tie it to my thighs, arms, and other parts without affecting my movements. I guess this might be an effective fight against the zombies' teeth and nails.
I felt like I had almost everything with me and was ready to go, but before I could take a step, I heard something weird!
I immediately turned around, and saw that the dilapidated corpse was crawling towards me!
My eyes widened, and for a moment I didn't know what to do. When it was less than ten paces away from me, I hurriedly picked up the spear in my hand and stabbed it desperately.
The initial fear seemed to be gone, and the feeling of a spear in the flesh mixed with my fear of death to create a wonderful chemistry.
I was no longer afraid, but I felt an inexplicable excitement, even crazy!
When I stopped panting, the zombies in front of me seemed to have been incapacitated by me. But it seemed to be in pain, still squirming towards me! From its head, I saw its blue-gray eyes and its black-purple mouth that was always open.
I carefully circled to its side, then aimed a spear and plunged it into the back of the head. Now, as I expected, it was completely dead.
I tried to insert it from somewhere else in its head, and I was satisfied. If its skull is too hard, I don't know if I'll be able to pierce it. But right now, their bones don't seem to be hard!
If these things can survive even if they have no organs and nothing but their heads, and their bodies can be strengthened, then where will we live?
I exhaled a cloudy breath and rubbed the black blood and other filth on the spear on the ground. "Let's go!" I said, taking one last look at the grocery store.
The grocery store wasn't far from the school, but the bad thing was that the No. 1 middle school was in the center of the county.
The streets are not wide, they are empty, and my own heart is empty.
I walked vigilantly on the deserted streets, although this is only a small county town with a small population, but it makes my heart beat hard.
"They, they should be hiding in the house. I said to myself.
Then I looked through the glass of the shops on both sides of the street for clues.
At this time, I was really torn, I didn't want to see zombies, but I also wanted to find their traces.
I was getting farther and farther away from the school, and I saw a lot of dried blood along the way.
There were quite a few obstacles on the road, and there was no one in the vehicles that had been knocked together, and the ground was full of broken glass ballast.
I frowned, poking into the cars from time to time. Unfortunately, though, there wasn't anything I wanted.
I'm going to pick up my pace, so it's best to find a safe place to hide and rest for a while. My heart is getting more and more panicked, and the terrible ones are often those that are in the dark, and if someone suddenly jumps out, I will definitely be caught off guard!
After leaving the street, I found a separate laundry, which was usually not crowded by many people, and there was no blood from the outside, so I didn't see anything wrong with it.
I pushed open the glass door and cautiously entered. I placed my spear beside the door, drew the small axe pinned to my waist, and I raised it in the air, tiptoed and held my breath, and walked inside. I removed the hanging clothes and examined them carefully.
After making sure there was nothing out of the ordinary, I quickly locked the door and pulled the curtain up.
I sat casually on the cold ground, untied the small hammer pinned to my waist, opened my backpack, first took away the top two fruit knives and kitchen knives, then found a bag of biscuits, ate a few pieces and put the biscuits in my bag. At present, food must be saved.
I'm here today, leaning against the glass and pulling back a little corner of the curtain, watching the movement outside, it's so quiet that it's like a dead city, even though it's already dead city in a sense. There's something strange about this quiet.
I looked up at the sky, and the dark clouds were still covering the sky, maybe because the air pressure was low, and I always felt dull in my chest.
Wait! Only when I see zombie activity will I feel at ease. They can't all disappear! Since the enemy is dark and I am clear, let's see who will be exposed first! I don't believe they will have wisdom! Maybe they are dormant for some reason.
I suddenly had the ridiculous idea that maybe they were post-vampires of the same nature, but I rejected the idea, they were zombies! And if they couldn't show up during the day, how could I explain the one I killed?
I sighed and decided not to dwell on it anymore. The facts will come out eventually!
