Chapter 5 A lavish breakfast can be unpleasant
It was getting dark, and Sether sat on the balcony at the top of the Impatiens Garden, drinking leopard milk wine with a gloomy expression.
The Emperor wore a simple black hunting outfit, but anyone with a discerning eye could tell that the delicate tailoring and meticulous embroidery were the work of the most skilled craftsmen. The nobles of Wilchenkai had a custom of having long hair, and the Emperor was no exception, but he always scoffed at the excessive ornamentation worn by men, and his long brown and black hair was casually tied low behind his head with a fur seal leather rope. The white satin shirt and the open black satin waistcoat had no patterns or ornaments, not even a gold chain. The hem of the shirt that broke free from the belt covered half of the hips, and the trousers were tightly tucked into the knee-length riding boots, outlining the beautiful and elongated thighs.
The emperor's boots were covered with dust, and the spurs had not yet fallen. He left the palace before dawn, and went out hunting with only two guards. This is Sether's habit, hunting is the best way to release stress, and usually his good mood lasts for several days after doing so. Today, however, it seems to be an exception. The butler minister served a sumptuous breakfast to the emperor who had returned from the morning hunt as usual. At the table, two exquisite ancient statues carry fruit baskets with pointed fruits, peeled lychees, honey-dipped dates, strawberries wrapped in frosting, and carefully sliced peaches and pineapples.
On the gold-filled marble table, there are grilled peacock brains, sizzling fried lion's legs, antelope breast drizzled with a thick layer of honey, rainbow fish soup stewed into a creamy white color, and a huge seafood platter of golden crab and lobster. In the middle of these mouth-watering plates are plates of delicate and lovely desserts. Fragrant Atami tea, spicy leopard milk wine, and frothy coconut milk cocoa juice each fill the three amber amphorae with beautiful necks.
Usually Sether has a good appetite after the morning hunt, but today he only ate a few mouthfuls of thick fish, and he no longer looked at the delicacies on the table, but drank more than half of the leopard milk wine, which he had rarely touched before.
Only the servant who grew up with Sether, Wei Nan, served the emperor for dinner. He carefully observed the Emperor's uncertain expression, and when he didn't need his service, he did his best to blend in with the two ancient statues, pretending to be part of the background.
"What time is it?" was the first thing Seser said this morning.
Wei Nan was so shocked that he almost knocked over the fruit basket, he seemed to be standing there and dreaming just now, "It's half past six, Your Majesty." Wei Nan hurriedly ran over and picked up the leopard milk wine glass, followed the emperor from the balcony into the warm audience room, set up a footstool for him, then lit the candles on the chandelier, and lit the incense towers one by one.
The soft light of the fire illuminated Sether's deep dark eyes, and the Emperor's eyes were mesmerizing, yet intimidating. He sat quietly in the huge armchair and looked through a thick pile of papers, in normal days, the corners of his mouth always appeared mocking smile, Wei Nan would rather be harassed and humiliated by the irascible emperor, and did not want to see his gloomy appearance now, this expression made Wei Nan afraid.
But he soon got his wish.
The Emperor pulled out one of the documents and examined them carefully, his face became more and more ugly, and his whole state changed from low pressure to storm, and finally he threw the document to the ground in anger.
"Go, call me Mulberry!
