1. What kind of person is a Taoist priest?

When many people met a Taoist priest, they asked, "Do you know how to tell fortunes?" Do you know how to do magic? You are superstitious! Can you really become immortals? What do you usually eat? Do you know Tai Chi? Taoist chief show me the marriage! Taoist chief give me a talisman! What do you eat? Taoist chief do you really catch ghosts?
It's a bit like when you see a crooked nut and think you know how to do kung fu, in fact, your reaction to such a problem is the same as our reaction to this problem.
A Taoist priest is a human being first, and then a Taoist priest, and only a human being, a person who is flesh and blood, has shortcomings and advantages, is a Taoist priest. Taoist priests are not born omnipotent, many things, may not be good at you, many problems may not be understood by you, but Taoist priests practice in a specific environment, it can be said that it is easier to approach traditional culture, easier to approach the original face of Taoism.
As a human being, Taoist priests, for various reasons, entered Taoism, got the opportunity to serve the ancestors, got the opportunity to learn, had the responsibility of promoting the dojo for the ancestors, and had the possibility of being closer to traditional culture.
But if you are a human being, it does not mean that you are Einstein, that he is a Taoist priest does not mean that he will be able to Taiji, that you are a human being does not mean that you are Bill Gates, that he is a Taoist priest does not mean that he will be able to tell hexagrams, that you are a human being does not mean that you are Siddhartha Gautama, and that he is a Taoist priest does not mean that he will be able to heal.

"This is all for yourself to find a reason, you are a dog, you may not be able to be a dog with meat to eat all day long, just as you are a man, you are not necessarily rich and handsome, this world, you need to recognize yourself, but also need to recognize others.
Here, it is necessary to establish a clear point of view, look at the Taoist priest with a normal heart, look at the Taoist priest rationally, and first regard the Taoist priest, monk, priest, and imam as a person, so that he is not superstitious, so that he is not deceived, every Taoist priest has his own good at, not every Taoist priest can Tai Chi, not every Taoist priest travels in the mountains and rivers, not every Taoist priest is fortune telling.
Even if this Taoist priest is at ease and traveling, you not only have to see their leisure, but also think about whether he has paid and worked hard for these leisurely people, don't just see the glory of others, and not only see the suffering and fatigue of others.
Just as you see that the snow scene of our Taoist temple is very beautiful, you want to experience life, have you ever thought that our Taoist temple is closed because of the university, there is no heating, and it looks like a quail in the Danfang? Have you ever thought that when we snow heavily, do you clean up the snow on the three kilometers of mountain roads every day? Have you ever thought that I eat a steamed bun at a meal, after sweeping the snow, minus five to ten degrees, **soaked with sweat, eat six or seven steamed buns and still feel like not hugging the state?

There are gains and losses, many people only see what others get, they can't see what others lose, they always doubt that others are happier than themselves, and they always think that it is better to change their life and be a Taoist priest. Taoist priests are also flesh-and-blood people, not every Taoist priest is not afraid of cold and heat, and not every Taoist priest is a person who is alchemy.
2. Have you considered entering the Tao and what are you doing to become a monk?
When you have the first step of understanding, you have to ask yourself, have you considered it for entering the Tao, what are you doing as a monk?
Taoism is to correct oneself and be clear about oneself, Taoism pays attention to the inheritance of teachers, and pays attention to the transmission and promotion of traditional culture, I think Taoism is not a superstitious religion, not that you believe in Taoism, it is correct, not that you believe in Taoism and it is natural and righteous.
The only religion that does not contradict the scientific system, does not persecute scientists, and does not contradict science and technology should be Taoism, and at the same time, Taoism is still actively exploring the world, and is willing to transform the world, and understand the world in a different way from science.
Tao Te Ching, as the basic classic of Taoism, is not supernatural throughout the text, and the avenue is the cornerstone of cultivation and the direction of our efforts, so why are there gods? Why do we respect the Yellow Emperor as the ancestor and Lao Tzu as the Taoist ancestor? Taoism believes that there is no god of the creator, there is no god who gives us a qiē, and there is no person who rises from a person or a human virtue to a god, and to be a god is the first to be a man, and to be a man is to be a man first.
Of course, limited to our current conditions, not everyone has the conditions to practice in Taoism, and at the same time, Taoism does not agree that everyone is practicing in Taoism, and encouraging everyone to become a monk is an act that destroys society; The Tao talks about this life, and in this life, we must actively work hard to face it. No matter what you are doing as a monk, you should first understand that you should first think about life and yourself.
Taoism also has a saying about home practice for cultivation, which is layman. If you start to enter the Tao and understand Taoism, you can first become a layman, a person who practices at home, and only two of my current apprentices have slowly embarked on the path of Taoist faculty and staff, and they usually contact online.
What is the purpose of entering the Tao? It is really looking for some fellow Taoists, who can practice the Tao with each other, who can restrain themselves, and do not necessarily have to go to the Taoist temple to become a monk and enter the Tao, most of my disciples are accepted online, and some people used to criticize it, but now I am slowly accepting it, and I am also proud of my disciples, they can restrain themselves, at the very least, slowly change.
I didn't ask them to be perfect and good people, do more good things, do less bad things, that's it, they can remember their identity, when they encounter pain or happiness and happiness, there is a group of brothers to share, and when there is a chance or the conditions are ripe, come to the temple to see me.
In many cases, the reason for the spread of Taoism lies in their obscurity and interpretation of Taoism in their own lives, and I am proud of them. Although they continue to improve and be strict with themselves, at the same time, because of them, they are more strict with themselves, after all, if they go out in the future, they say, "Oh, look at their master, it's which Liang Xingyang, it's a shame to cheat money and sex, a bad Taoist;
Cultivating the Tao does not necessarily mean to be a Taoist priest, but you can find a refuge teacher, make friends with some fellow Taoists or brothers, and practice at home;
3. The balance between the mystery of Taoism and faith.
Curiosity and mystery are the stepping stones to understand some things, because of curiosity, may enter the Taoist garden, scholars because of curiosity, may strayed into the garden and bumped into the rich lady, there is a good relationship, my apprentice because of curiosity, I was circled into the second group of Longmen to show each other the lower limit.
It is absolutely undeniable that the importance of curiosity, and don't underestimate the importance of mystery, but, you can't take these as the foundation, have you forgotten jì, our persimmons have also attracted a lot of friends to Taoism to have a cute impression.
Taoism is first and foremost a religion, and then in view of the fact that the great masters of the past dynasties used metaphysical means to explore the world, there must be a real essence of the elimination of time. The Tao is the Tao and the Tao, the Tao is the first and the law is the last, because there is the Tao, there is the law, and because there is virtue, it can be done. Taoism lies in cultivation, in true self-awareness. Everyone has curiosity, but to deal with the balance between mystery and faith, is it because of mystery that true faith is neglected?
You always remember that the technique is only for use, and the iron sand palm you have practiced for ten years is cool to pinch walnuts, so it is better to buy a walnut clip as soon as possible. I used to tell a story about a bamboo basket carrying water, I don't know if you understood it at the time.
It's like if you see a pile of garbage on the ground that is an eyesore, and you say, "I want to promote the Dao, and I want to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the world's environment. "Actually, what's the use of saying it nicely, what's the use of refining more magical powers, it's better to bend down and put the garbage in the trash can by yourself.
Cultivation is not empty talk, and cultivation is not more reasonable than anyone else, but it depends on whether you do it or not, whether you do it or not. Just as the walnut clipper is a tool, no matter how magical Taoism is, as long as we go to promote Taoism, doing the simplest things is the manifestation of Taoism and the promotion of Taoism.
I have seen people in the temple who have been wandering in the Taoist gate for twenty or thirty years, running in various temples in order to learn spells, running from their teens to their forties, achieving nothing, and complaining everywhere that there is no real thing in Taoism, we are not good, and he wasted decades of time in vain.
These times were wasted by himself, just as I have seen the old man who secretly sold his house and donated the money to the temple to make merit, and in the end her husband and children did not accept her, and kicked her out of the house, and had to go to a small Taoist temple to take refuge. She was kicked out during the Chinese New Year, not because of others, but because of her own superstition, superstitious offerings can get merit, selfishly ruining real life for the sake of the next life or going to the Western Elysium. Like learning spells, he also fell into the quagmire of superstition.
Everything in the world must have its reason, just as the moon has a profit and loss and the day is cloudy and sunny, even if there is really a more mysterious Taoism, even if there is a little stone into gold, if you want to turn stone into gold, you have to pay enough price, and if you want to call the wind and rain, you have to pay enough sacrifice.
Just like a rich man asking how to live forever, the master said, "You must abstain from sex, smoking, alcohol, meat, and so on." He responded: "Why should I live forever if I am forbidden so much?" So, weigh your gains and losses, establish a balance, and establish a clear understanding.
We don't encounter ups and downs all the time in life, most of the time we don't need these magic powers to solve problems, our wisdom can solve most of the problems, now the development of this society, as long as you are not lazy and self-motivated, as long as you can better face life, it's enough, many times you can't reach the time to fight dad and spell IQ, of course, it is far from the time to fight for magic, it is better to learn more things yourself, in addition, learning magic powers is much more difficult than you studied well to be admitted to Peking University Tsinghua University, you think about it, how many people you have seen in Peking University Tsinghua University, how many people have you seen who can spell magic?
4. Burden and cause and effect.
In our daily life, we will encounter a word called cause and effect, including science, Religions and so on use the theory of cause and effect to extend the view of the world, extend the understanding of the world, and even return some unexplained things to the cause and effect of previous lives and future lives; you suffer in this life because you have done evil in your previous life, so you accumulate virtue in this life and make me a cow and a horse to feed me well, and you will be fine in the next life; you honestly follow the guidance of the pastor, because you deserve to be a lamb to be grazed; because you do not believe in me, you will be destroyed, you will be sent to hell; because the true God has said, it is right, because it is right, so the true God has said。
Is it really that deserved? Is cause and effect really so terrifying? Is cause and effect really sophistry and shirking responsibility?
For Taoism, it is not denied that there are past lives and future lives, but it is definitely not that you will become a pig in the next life if you eat pork in this life, in the same way, in order to be a Taoist priest in the next life, you can't just count up to the Golden Immortal Temple to eat Liang Xingyang as a hot pot.
Just like your hard drive, even if you have more good memories and are completely formatted, it is no longer your hard drive, but a completely new individual, and it is useless for you to cry; after resetting your soul, even if the same soul is stored in zài, it is no longer you, because you are you, first because of your experience, because of your perception, when these perceptions are erased, it is no longer you.
The reason why Taoist practice focuses on this life is that you can really treat yourself, really face life positively, and live this life optimistically; if there is an afterlife, you will not live well in this life, so why should you expect your ancestor to favor an unmotivated person in the next life? If you don't have an afterlife, you can't live well in this life, you will really die of a loss, how depressed.
In this life, you must treat yourself well, when you encounter problems, you must treat them well, be optimistic, you can't passively think that you can become a god by reciting a holy name, you can't give up life negatively, and you can't think that you are a slave of God or a lamb of God, you are first of all independent and free, you are truly wise, the biggest difference between humans and animals is whether you have wisdom, and the biggest difference between faith and superstition is whether you have a complete yourself.
In the theory of cause and effect, either believing in any religion is naturally correct, not believing in any religion will lead to hell, either being a vegetarian or a naturally good person, or eating meat or being a natural bad person, these are all using cause and effect to intimidate believers to achieve their own goals.
In a sense, the upper echelons of religion may be far less fanatical than a superstitious person who is more fanatical about religion, and can see how sacred the believers or monks are**, and have never seen any pope for the sake of justice**, they can encourage others** to encourage others to destroy miè, but they cherish their bodies incomparably, persuade others to dedicate themselves to religion, but they themselves covet the treatment of living Buddhas.
Personally, I believe that cause and effect are used to intimidate ordinary people, make people superstitious and fanatical, and only in this way can the interests of some so-called gods and Buddhas represent people, and only the interests of priests, imams, living Buddhas, monks, and high Taoists can be achieved.
In addition to cause and effect, Taoism also has a burden, and I personally think that it is a kind of cognition that gets rid of the artificial control of cause and effect, and is a system that is closer to the cognition of the modern scientific system.
We bear all the construction or destruction before, we have to bear all the good and evil in history, not due to our will, not personal cause and effect; because of the various efforts of our predecessors, we enjoy the civilization left by our predecessors, because of the conquest of our predecessors, we see the destruction of nature; because of the two emperors of Yan and Huang, we are crowned as the descendants of Yan and Huang, and because of the chaos of the five indiscriminate, we see the history of destruction.
The collective actions of our predecessors affect us, our collective actions affect future generations, this generation has to pay for the actions of the previous people or enjoy the results, if we protect the environment and leave them a good environment, they are better, if we are all destroyed, future generations can no longer have this environment, they cannot decide what we do, we cannot decide what our predecessors do, but we can decide for ourselves what our generation does!!
If we see the passage of traditional culture, we don't work hard, everyone doesn't do anything, then in a few generations, they will be even more unfamiliar with traditional culture, even if they come to condemn us for ignoring culture, even if they crush us to ashes, they can't change anything.
And we can change for ourselves, indirectly for them, and this is the core meaning of Taoism's advocacy of focusing on this life.
Only by re-emphasizing this life, can we not give up, and become able to carry more positive energy for future generations, the predecessors planted trees and the descendants enjoyed the shade, and the predecessors dug pits and the descendants suffered, what we did not only affect ourselves, not only our own cause and effect, but we ourselves are a link in history, and we should assume our responsibilities.
If there is really a next life, would you like to live in the next life where the stinky ditches are all over the world, or will you have the courage to take responsibility for the beautiful next life?
5. The problem of men and women entering the Tao.
Among all religions, Taoism is the religion that pays the most attention to the equality of men and women, and at the same time, Taoism advocates the coexistence of yin and yang.
Both men and women can enter the Taoist practice, and they can improve themselves through the practice of guò Taoism, and finally achieve moral perfection, and even reach the possibility of becoming gods and immortals.
Unlike other religions that despise or ignore women, and even use women as bargaining chips to make men superstitious, in Taoism, women are not bargaining chips, women are not vassals, women can also cultivate immortals and obtain Taoism, only Taoism, there are constantly emerging female fairies, in addition to masculinity, there is also the beauty of femininity, in order to achieve the natural. Therefore, Taoism is divided into the main road and the kun road, the Taoist aunt is just an informal statement, men are the main road, women are the Kun road, both men and women can enter the Tao, after entering the Tao, both men and women, are called a certain master, and the name between each other is the senior brother, and there is no zài senior sister and sister said.
In the immortal system, female immortals are a feature of Taoism, but also a highlight, at the same time, the legend of the eight immortals also implies the deeper meaning of Taoism, men, women, old, young, poor, rich, noble, cheap can all become Taoist, is there more attractive than this?
Folklore must give the Jade Emperor a queen mother, with the east prince there is the west queen mother, with the thunder prince there is the electric mother, Taoism solemnly declared, we have no gender discrimination, do not know how to respect nature, do not know how to respect women's religion is destined not to develop in the long run!
And all the girls' shoes, think about it, if you join Buddhism, you have to shave your head, and one day you think about it and want to find someone to marry, what should you do with your bald head?
You can also wear beautiful Taoist robes, and you can also play the piano in beautiful places, this is how the beauty of ancient costumes comes, you have to be confident, when you come to Taoism, you must be a beautiful Kundao, instead of shaving your head or wrapping your head.
6. Eating problems.
Due to the development of society, the current state of Quanzhen is that there may be some temples that strictly regulate vegetarian food, and the temple does not move meat, and goes out to deal with things, according to personal wishes; many large-scale activities in hotels or other occasions are divided into two seats of meat and vegetarian, and you can choose according to your hobbies.
Taoism is mainly divided into Quanzhen, Zhengyi two major factions, Quanzhen Taoist living in the view, Zhengyi Shiduo home, many students who plan to enter the Tao plan to cultivate immortals, many are influenced by the Quanzhen Neidanshu, of course, Taoism is also to cultivate immortals, so many children plan to become immortals. I plan to become an immortal, and I don't want to give up eating meat, this is a problem, and it's still a big problem.
Quanzhen Buddhism advocates vegetarianism, on the one hand, because of the need to practice certain Taoist rituals, and on the other hand, because of the need for economic conditions. Most of the Taoist temples live in difficult conditions, and if you are a vegetarian, you may only have potatoes boiled in salted water, or green vegetables can be eaten after they are put in water. This means that you have to really practice the Dan Dao, and the opportunity to eat meat is very rare.
There are also some basic taboos, even if you go out to eat, Taoists don't eat cattle, dogs, snakes, turtles and cranes, of course, in real life, beef is the most basic, if you can abide by it, try to abide by it.
In other respects, respect personal opinions, after all, we live in an era of individuality, the emphasis is on cultivation, and the precepts are the norms that our ancestors have given us, reminding us that there are still times when our cultivation is insufficient.
7. Taoist temple accommodation problem:
Many people have asked: "How do you charge for Taoist temples?" and "Is it okay to spend money to stay for a few days?"
In this respect, not all Taoist temples have the conditions for receiving believers from time to time or in large quantities, and it may be very simple for you to go to Taoist temples to offer incense or visit Taoism, but accommodation is a big problem.
After all, a Taoist temple is not a hostel or a commercial institution, for a Taoist priest the Taoist temple is a home, someone asks you, see that your home conditions are good, can you spend money to stay in your house for a few days, how will you react? In the same way, it depends on the degree of trust, familiarity, and human affection.
For many people, it may be a Taoist temple or a scenic spot, and for Taoist priests it means differently, Taoist priests are very happy to see many believers with faith, why? This is the home of all Taoist disciples, we are maintaining this home, we are maintaining this dojo for the ancestral master, the ancestral master is the parent, and the Taoist disciples are at home when they arrive at the Taoist temple.
Wine is less than a thousand cups of confidants, more than half a sentence of speculation, it is difficult to buy money I like, to this home, friends come really casually, money is not the goal, faith and trust are the fate, willing to make some contributions to the family, how much is not restricted; even if you don't give a penny, I see that you like it, and may give you a lot of things. It's about faith, it's about money, but it's never going to be exchanged for money.
You come to my house as a guest, I think you are a friend, you can make friends, you are drunk like mud and I will carry you up the mountain, I think you can't be friends or use money in exchange for trust, you wear clothes and leather shoes I drink tea and chat by myself, when you are air. You can't do it without money, but you can't sell your soul for money, and what you can't see through is the money, and what you can't see through is the heart.
You don't have a penny, you're my friend, you're lying on the street and you don't need you to ask for anything, I'll carry you back; you're a billionaire, not my friend, and if you want to enter my house, you have to see if I agree or not, and give me 200 yuan to stay for a night? Of course, if you come to live in my house, you say you're a local tyrant, my house is 1 million, you give me 10 million, and I'll leave immediately, of course, take away my friend and my affection, you can't get my real trust. Then again, Taoist temples cannot be bought or sold.
Many Taoist temples have the conditions and places to provide places for good Taoists to study, and they can pay for training or visits, which is also a way, a way of self-support, just like my house is big, and a place is dedicated to a tea room, but even so, you can't enter the Taoist priest's personal Dan room. We will also try to do these Taoist experiences, but it also depends on trust and familiarity, not just money.
Again, it's more about faith and trust, the door is wide open, and you're welcome to come at any time, but you really need more familiarity when you stay, I don't know you, when I don't know you, it's not much use to take money, when I know you, it's not much use to take money. Money is only a tool, a way and a way, not a means.
8. Apprenticeship Questions:
There is no academic requirement to enter the Taoist practice, but it requires you to have a real understanding of Taoism and be willing to work as a Taoist faculty member. If you know enough and really have the confidence to enter the Tao, then you need to ask for parental consent, and then the police station will issue a certificate of no criminal record.
However, there is a saying that if you are not filial, you should not enter the Tao, and it is better to persuade ten people than to persuade one person to become a monk, and if you have already done your filial piety, I will not comment on it; when you are still a minor, when you have just graduated and have not yet fulfilled a little filial piety, you come to become a monk, in order to enjoy the mountains and rivers freely, what is the point of this? What is the difference between you and a coward?
Your parents raised you so much, did you be filial to your parents, what have you done for your family?
Your father and mother raised you so big, what have you done for them? If it is really your faith and you are really willing to engage in it, it is fine, otherwise, whoever has a child will be willing to be a monk and Taoist!
Really become a monk, think about your parents, really enter the Tao, think about filial piety, what can you do, and you shouldn't run away from anything, and you shouldn't be selfish to cultivate immortals and get away, you are not cultivating the Tao, you are not filial piety, you are shameless and there is no morality!
Especially cultivating immortals before graduating from middle school, especially seeing that everyone in society is a bad person, especially those who feel that they must become immortals, especially those who feel that the society is extremely dark when they encounter walls everywhere, and the immortals who repair a yarn will not be able to do it and be a fairy, something wrong!
People who are not even filial to their parents, who don't even care about their families, can still expect you to respect your teachers? You don't care if your parents raise you with and urine, you don't feel sorry for them, and the day I teach you Taoism is the day you deceive your teachers and destroy your ancestors.
