Chapter 6 Cause and Effect
Shaolin Temple is located at the west foot of Dengfeng Song Mountain, Songshan Mountain is Taimur Mountain in the east, Shaolin Mountain is Shaolin Mountain in the west, Shaolin Temple is under the five milk peaks of Shaolin Mountain.
As a thousand-year-old temple, this temple was originally built by Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty in order to place the Indian monk Batuo, but what really made it famous in the world was another Indian monk, that is, the Bodhidharma patriarch who crossed the river with a reed.
Since Bodhidharma faced the wall in Shaolin Temple for nine years and founded Zen Buddhism, Shaolin Temple has become the ancestral court of Zen Buddhism.
After hundreds of years of evolution, Zen Buddhism is divided into five schools and seven sects, namely Weiyang, Linji, Caodong, Yunmen, and Dharma Eye, plus the Huanglong School and Yangqi School branched out from the Linji Sect, which are collectively known as the Seven Sects.
At this time, the abbot of Shaolin Temple, Zhilong, was from the Cao Dong sect in Dongshan, Jiangxi.
Prior to this, the position of abbot of Shaolin Temple was held by the virtuous monks of the seven sects in turn, which means that the abbot of Shaolin belonged to Zen Buddhism but was not necessarily from Shaolin.
The Shaolin abbot can be a monk from other temples, and when the previous abbot leaves for various reasons, he will be re-elected among the seven sects, and the winner will come to the Shaolin Temple to be the abbot.
This involves the open and secret struggle between the various sects, but since Donglin Zhilong became the abbot of Shaolin Temple, the Shaolin abbots since then are all from the Caodong sect, and the Caodong sect has also become the head of the Zen sects.
From this point, it can be seen that Zen Master Zhilong is not a simple monk, he knows how to grasp the opportunity very well.
The reason why he took the initiative to point out the relationship between Yang Kang and Yelu Chucai when he participated in the Daxiangguo Temple Dharma meeting this time was to get in touch with Zhao Wangfu.
Monks do not only know how to chant sutras and chant Buddha, they also observe the movements of the imperial court at all times, which is a big matter related to their survival, if there is an emperor who is disgusted with Buddhism, they have to restrain themselves, if there is an emperor who believes in Buddhism, they will take the opportunity to expand.
Moreover, Buddhism and Confucianism and Taoism also compete for believer resources, and Buddhism and Taoism have repeatedly debated in front of successive emperors in order to obtain the opportunity to spread.
The most famous is the debate about "Lao Tzu Hua Hu Jing", in the Western Jin Dynasty, there was a Taoist priest of the Heavenly Master in order to prove that Taoism is more clever than Buddhism, he made up this scripture, which recorded the Taoist patriarch Lao Tzu entered Tianzhu and transformed into a Buddha, and taught Tianzhu people to believe in Buddhism.
This also shows that at that time, in order to spread their respective teachings, they really did everything they could.
Zen Master Zhilong learned from Yelu Chucai that Wanyan Honglie's attitude towards Buddhism was not so positive, and he also knew that Qiu Chuji of the Quanzhen Sect had become Yang Kang's teacher, which was a very dangerous signal, indicating that Taoists had reached into the royal family of the Jin Kingdom.
Although Wanyan Honglie has now lost power in the Jin court, but he has come to Kaifeng, the so-called county officials are not as good as the current management, Wanyan Honglie has become the head of the family here, if he takes some measures that are unfavorable to the Buddhist family, it is really regrettable.
Buddhism pays attention to making good connections, and it is better to show favor at this time than to regret and regret.
This is the cause and effect of a qiē, so there is no love without a reason in this world, and there is no hate without a reason.
Yang Kang was not aware of this, although he knew something about these intricate religious relations, but he was not really proficient, and at the moment he was visiting the Shaolin Temple with great interest, which was a famous tourist attraction in later generations.
Of course, what he cares about most is the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, where there are not only Shaolin 72 stunts, but also the "Jiuyang True Scripture" that he has longed for.
Accompanying Yang Kang on the visit was a little monk of his age, this little monk spoke decently, lively and clever, because he could speak the Tao before he was sent by Zhilong Zen Master to explain the landscape of Shaolin Temple for this little prince of Jinguo, after all, peers have more common language.
The little monk thinks that the little prince of Jin Guo is very good, there is no shelf, and he is very good at talking, but he always asks if there are old monks who sweep the floor in Shaolin Temple, and the work of sweeping the floor is done by these little monks, and those old monks will do this kind of heavy work.
Yang Kang couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when he heard that there was no old monk sweeping the floor in the temple, so he asked to go to the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion to have a look and be contaminated with the breath of Buddhist scriptures.
This request was not thwarted, and he ascended to the Scripture Pavilion smoothly.
However, the Buddhist scriptures in the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion are not to mention the vast sea, there are thousands of them, and it is by no means possible to complete the scriptures you want in a few days, Xiao Yuanshan and Murong Bo stayed here for many years before they found the secret book of the seventy-two stunts.
Yang Kang didn't want to attract people's attention, so he could just look for it himself, but he had to give up after looking at so many Buddhist scriptures, this is not a library for later generations, there is no mark on the shelf, and he can only check it one by one.
"I want to pay homage to the four volumes of the Ranga Sutra written by Patriarch Bodhidharma himself, I wonder if it is possible?" Yang Kang requested.
The little monk was stunned for a moment, thinking that this little prince is a master who is proficient in Sanskrit, although the four volumes of scriptures are precious, but they are written in Sanskrit, ordinary people can't understand them, and only one or two monks who are proficient in Sanskrit in the temple occasionally read it, and no one usually cares about it.
However, the little monk did not question Yang Kang, but went to the librarian of the Scripture Pavilion, and only the old monk who guarded the Scripture Pavilion knew the exact location of each scripture.
It didn't take long for the little monk to come back with a few scriptures, which were the "Ranga Sutra" written by Bodhidharma.
Yang Kang was very excited, but he still pretended to be calm and took the scriptures, saying that he would take them to the guest room and study them carefully, and the little monk had no objection to this.
After getting off the Tibetan Scripture Building, Yang Kang hurried back to the guest room, completely ignoring the two bodyguards behind him, Peng Lianhu and Sha Tongtian, which made these two people a little puzzled, could it be that the little prince was in a hurry?
When he came to the guest room of Shaolin Temple, closed the doors and windows, he opened the scriptures with some trembling......
Once, twice, three times......
What's the crack? Do you want to tear the pages open?
Yang Kang was a little crazy, there was nothing on the scriptures except Sanskrit that he couldn't understand, nothing, nothing......
This is not a repetition, but the true feeling of Yang Kang's heart.
There was really nothing, and after carefully examining the four volumes of the Ranga Sutra, Yang Kang confirmed this fact, which was undoubtedly a fact that disappointed him.
It can't be that he made a mistake in his memory, otherwise how did Jueyuan learn the "Nine Yang True Scripture" in this later, could it be that the "Nine Yang True Scripture" has not been created yet? Or is there something wrong with this plane.
Yang Kang, who was puzzled, reluctantly returned the scriptures and left the Shaolin Temple with some frustration.
After Yang Kang left, the librarian of the Scripture Pavilion walked out of the small gatehouse and looked at the four volumes of the Ranga Sutra with some confusion.
Yang Kang knew it as soon as he entered the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, he knew from Yang Kang's walking posture and the depth of his breathing that Yang Kang practiced Quanzhen martial arts, he had fought with Wang Chongyang in the past, and after he won it, he read the world's first strange book "Nine Yin True Scripture".
What did this Quanzhen apprentice do when he came to Shaolin Temple? And he insisted on flipping through these four volumes of the "Ranga Sutra".
The librarian was very puzzled, he had lived in seclusion in the Shaolin Temple all these years, bent on creating a set of martial arts that was more powerful than the "Nine Yin True Scripture", ignoring the outside world, and not knowing that Wang Chongyang was dead.
Could it be that Wang Chongyang wants to borrow this Quanzhen apprentice to leave me some riddles, and he still wants to compete again?
When he was fighting with Wang Chongyang, he was indeed clever, but he didn't believe that Wang Chongyang could see it.
With all kinds of doubts, the librarian began to look through the "Lenga Sutra", trying to find the clues left by Wang Chongyang, but he found nothing like Yang Kang, but when he saw the gaps in the gap between the scriptures, an idea popped up in his heart.
It's better for me to write about the martial arts I created here, if that Quanzhen apprentice comes to read the scriptures again and sees the martial arts I created, he will definitely know that it is more powerful than the "Nine Yin True Scripture", and it also makes Wang Chongyang die and fight with me.
With his mind set up, he began to write, but what is the name of this set of self-created martial arts?
Thinking about it, it is better to call it "Jiuyang True Scripture", one yin and one yang, which is in line with the avenue of heaven and earth.
So the librarian picked up the pen and began to write in the cracks of the Ranga Sutra......
