Why practice?
Many people ask Xingyang about his practice and the past life and this life, and Xingyang answers like this: the so-called Taoist cultivation in this life, Buddha cultivation in the next life, the life in the past life is not me, the world in the future life does not know me, Taoism also pays attention to the past life and the next life, but in this life, you can't remember the previous life, the next life, and you can't remember you in this life, and you are no different from strangers, it is better to be kind to the people around you, it is also good; Xingyang resolutely disagrees, you can't even take care of yourself, you can't even treat yourself well in this life, what can you expect in the next life? This life is the foundation of the next life. Coveting the glory and wealth of the next life and making merit is the greatest greed, and it is better to treat this life peacefully.
Xingyang has an attitude towards believers, when your living conditions are average, you can make ten yuan of merit, and when you live a rich life, it is the same heart to make billions of merits, in front of the patriarch, only your heart is measured; first treat yourself, then treat your family, and then make merit to help others or seek hope for the next life.
In essence, the Tao is about cultivating one's own mind, allowing you to understand yourself, understand the meaning of life, and achieve a state of peace, so that you can face life positively, and naturally not get lost in your heart, so that you can find the meaning of life, and in this life, you will live well. Just like the leader told you: Young man, work hard, in another five years, you will definitely be able to surpass me, believe in yourself!
The Buddha emphasizes cause and effect, believes in the next life, believes that suffering in this life is your sin in your previous life, and that you enjoy happiness in this life because you suffered in your previous life; through the way of believing in Buddhism, you can achieve peace; just like the leader talks to you and tells you: I am the leader in this life, eating, drinking, prostituting and gambling beautiful women like clouds, you don't want to be jealous, because I was a poor middle peasant in my last life, young man, I am optimistic about you, you do a good job, I will give you my position in the next life, in other words, you want my position, wait for the next life.
Sort of something like this,
Dao: Brother, lend me 5 million, I will give you an IOU, and agree on when to pay it back to you. To make you believe me, I give you my house as collateral.
Buddha: Brother, lend me 5 million, my brother wants to eat, drink, prostitute and gamble, you can die in bliss, or in the next life, I will pay you back 50 million, and I promise to pay you back, or let me suffer in the next life to make you a cow and a horse. You have to believe me, and if you don't believe me, you're wrong.
It may be difficult for you to judge which way is beneficial to you, but in terms of religious philosophy, it can be summarized as:
The Tao is for you to regulate your positive life in this life, and the Buddha is for you to look forward to happiness and prosperity in the next life. The Tao is to give you a means to change the status quo, and the Buddha is to give you a hope for the next life.
Another story:
One day, the little monk's things were stolen,
Ask the old monk: Why was my things stolen?
The old monk said: You owe him in your last life.
The little monk thought for a while and said, "I don't owe him anything in my last life."
The old monk said: Really?
The little monk said: Really!
The old monk said, "Are you sure?"
The little monk said, "I'm sure!!
If you were an old monk, how would you answer?
The old monk's answer was: Then you wait for the next life!
Then after this question is settled, the old monk will say: The donor has great wisdom roots, enter my Buddhism.
The Taoist priest will answer you: since you are so wise, live well, face each other positively, spend every day of your life happily, and do not let your time go to waste.
