Chapter 9: The Underground Tomb
Some remote villages in southwest Guizhou still retain much of their local culture. In some extremely backward areas, the population is sparse and the customs are strange. For example, burial after death is one of the strange taboos in a few villages that are wild and follow ancient customs.
According to the research of some modern scientists and historians, there have been many incomprehensible doubts about the burial of the deceased in some cave-dwelling villages in southwest Guizhou since ancient times, and there are the following situations in these doubts:
1. In some areas, the deceased died the day before and were still at home, but the next day the body was missing, and no one was seen carrying the body out, and the locals had a tacit understanding with each other, as if they all knew where the body had gone.
Second, I have never seen a local cemetery in the countryside or in the mountains, as if all the dead are not disposed of by burial, according to local customs, the dead are generally not cremated, so where do these corpses go? In fact, the corpse is often mysteriously transferred by the locals to another hidden place at night, but the exact location is unknown to outsiders.
(These suspenseful funeral customs have indeed been verified, and some of the content has been broadcast on a CCTV channel, and if you are interested, you can personally go deep into southwest Guizhou to interview and verify.) )
There have been traces that the corpses of some of the dead in the troglodyte tribes in ancient times were probably eaten by people from the same tribe! Although this statement is terrifying, it conforms to the objective situation of the troglodyte tribes in ancient times: The people of the troglodyte tribes liked the caves they lived in all their lives, and they may have wanted to stay in the caves after death; the troglodyte tribes were sometimes short of food; and the corpses that stopped being found in the caves were easy to cause decay, smell, and cause diseases. Therefore, the ancient troglodyte tribes disposed of the corpses in this way of "leaving the dead in everyone's hearts".
There are also troglodyte tribes that have adopted the centralized storage of corpses. Because the cave tribe is accustomed to cave life, people are willing to take the cave as their home from birth to death, in order to make the deceased in the tribe still rest in the cave after death, in the geographical conditions of the vast karst cave landform in southwest Guizhou, all kinds of caves and karst caves under the stratum are criss-crossed, and the cave tribe chooses the deepest and most hidden cave as a centralized storage place for the corpses of all the dead, similar to today's cemetery. In addition, in order not to disturb outsiders, the specific location of this kind of cemetery is only the head of the tribe has the right to know, and even according to legend, in the deep underground of southwest Guizhou, there is a real meaning of the "underworld", and many of the dead live in another form in the underworld.
Of course, there are no more cavemen in the caves today, and the cavemen tribes have all moved out of the caves and into the newly built villages nearby, and the mysterious caves have been turned into attractions for tourists.
Having said that, six years ago, Uncle Teng took Yin An to look for traces of the Linglong Demon Realm in the depths of southwest Guizhou, and often spent the night in some remote villages in the local area.
One night, the two of them walked into an extremely remote village, even if Uncle Teng walked in southwest Guizhou all the year round, he had not come to this village a few times, because it could really be said that he was in the deepest part of a large area of poor mountains and bad waters, and the transportation was extremely inconvenient, and he had never stayed here at night.
There were only about 20 families in this small village, and a child of five or six years old died early that day, and from one of the families there was constant weeping. An old man who was regarded as the village chief saw the strangers coming, and he was quite enthusiastic about Uncle Teng, and after entertaining Uncle Teng, they arranged a vacant room for the two of them to rest for the time being.
In the middle of the night, there was a faint sound of soothing in the village. Uncle Teng and Yin An listened carefully, it was the voice of the fifth or sixth person. Because Uncle Teng had practiced hearing, he probably listened to the conversation of several people, to the effect that the child who died in the village was considered the heir of the clan, and he should be sent to the clan's burial grave before the time of Yin.
Uncle Teng had known about some local funeral customs for a long time, and he didn't care much about this matter, but the conversation between those people later aroused his curiosity. It turned out that two of the middle-aged villagers asked an old man, "Elder, what should we do with those monsters in the burial mound, it's not a way to go on like this." "Well, don't mess with them, or you'll die, and I hope they won't stay there forever, hey." The old man sighed helplessly. "I hope so, Elder, then we'll go first. After a middle-aged man finished speaking, he seemed to lift something slightly heavier and gently walked out of the village.
Monster! Uncle Teng was suddenly shocked in his heart, could this be related to the Linglong Demon Realm that he was trying to find. Uncle Teng called Yin An at the moment, and the two of them quietly came out of the house after preparing for self-defense, and followed the figures of those villagers from a distance in the faint moonlight.
From the time of the child to the barren mountains and mountains to the Yinshi, along the way the tree shadows swaying, strange birds wailing, around a few mountain beams, Teng Lao Bo and the two followed the black shadows of several villagers to a complex, strange rocky mountain range, this mountain climbed not long after a deep ditch, after the ditch seven around and around, if not for Teng Lao Bo's eyesight and ear far beyond mortals, it must have been lost.
Walking in the ditch where the boulders stand and the trees are lush, the villagers in the distance in front suddenly lit up the torches, and Uncle Teng and Yin An secretly approached under the cover of the night, only to find that several villagers were moving a large area of vines and grasses under a stone wall 100 meters ahead. When a piece of vegetation was removed, I saw that under the mountain wall, there was a cave mouth that was not too big!
"It seems that this may be the crypt used to store corpses in the village's earliest cave dwellings. What kind of monsters are there down there?" thought to Uncle Teng.
When a few villagers carried a square wooden box into the cave, Uncle Teng hesitated and pulled Yin An back the same way.
In the deep mountains and wilderness with black lights and blind fire, fortunately, on the way to come, Uncle Teng had asked Yin An to sprinkle a kind of incense powder for guiding the way, and using a special guide Gu to take them back the same way, otherwise in such a huge dark night, ordinary people do not have GPS, night vision tracking equipment or professional guidance skills, and the village when they want to find it back is really untouchable.
On the second day, Uncle Teng and Yin An said goodbye to the villagers, and then walked back into the ravine the night before.
When they arrived at the same place, they found that the entrance to the cave the night before had been cleverly covered by the villagers with plants. After removing the vines and weeds, some stones and wooden frames, the hole less than a person high was finally revealed, and the two of them looked towards the hole, and below was a deep stone staircase. For the sake of safety, Uncle Teng asked Yin An to always follow behind him and keep a certain distance, so that if there was a change, the two would not be in danger at the same time.
The cave has been falling down not very deep, after walking roughly down for more than 200 meters, with the light of torches and flashlights, Uncle Teng and Yin An came to a spacious place, and found stone benches, stone tables and some very ancient signs of cave dwelling, it seems that people once lived here.
The bottom of the cave is very humid, there is a smell of corruption in the air, and the rancid smell in the air is getting deeper and deeper along the cave wall. Uncle Teng was afraid that he would cause some trouble by startling the grass and snakes, so he hurriedly extinguished the small torch in his hand, and Yin An, who was behind, saw that the fire in front of him was extinguished, and he also hurriedly extinguished the lighting in his hand and stood in place waiting for news.
With the whining sound in front of him, Uncle Teng heard a heavy vibration sound from the ground in the distance in front of him, and when he listened carefully, it seemed to be the footsteps of a person when he stepped heavily. Hearing this, Uncle Teng began to move his body slowly, trying to get closer to the place where the sound source came from.
Just in case, the cautious Uncle Teng took out the medicinal powder from his arms and sprinkled it on himself, trying to suppress the breath on his body, because Uncle Teng knew that if it was really a monster, their sense of smell was very sensitive, and it was easy to smell the breath of the living. In fact, before going down to the hole, he and Yin An had already sprinkled it, and in order to be safe, he sprinkled a lot for himself.
There was no light in the darkness, Uncle Teng took out a small vial from his arms, drank the potion made from the owl's eye beads that he had collected a long time ago, and then performed witchcraft, so that he temporarily had night vision. His witchcraft is mostly supplemented by the corresponding animal and plant elements in the natural world, so he is even more thirsty for the legendary Linglong Demon World.
With night vision eyes and closer more than ten meters, after turning a few huge stalactites, Uncle Teng finally saw a strange scene: in front of him is a morgue full of large and small coffins, I don't know how big, densely stacked with many layers of coffins, but also with stacks of wooden shelves and ladders, these coffins are basically simple in form, some coffins seem to be old, have cracked and collapsed.
It seems that this crypt is indeed a cemetery used by the ancestors of the local village to store the corpses of the dead, but less than 100 meters ahead, Uncle Teng saw a strange iron cage, roughly half a meter high and one meter square, with a black thing trapped in it, struggling in the cage, and the "whining" sound came from the iron cage, like some kind of animal.
At the same time, the heavy footsteps from the ground that he had heard earlier had reached the ground, and Uncle Teng saw that there was a tunnel leading deeper underground on one side of the iron cage, and at this moment, two figures were walking up from the tunnel in turn.
According to custom, no one can stay in this kind of crypt where the corpse is hidden for a long time, this is a blasphemy against the ancestors. Uncle Teng felt strange in his heart.
