Volume 2: Rising Clouds Chapter 36: The Buddha Land is in the Dust

"The little monk sits in Pu Wu Ming Zen, and the old novice knocks on the fish and fasts. ”

"The bamboo broom chases the snow to clear the bitter court, and the robe is broken to hope that the Buddha will come to the fate. ”

......

"I asked the monk Bodhi a few strokes, and he said that the wine was not enough to add some food. Woohoo lament, woohoo lament, it's hard for the Holy Buddha to tolerate the great virtue ......"

......

In a solemn and pure treasure temple, an eleven or twelve-year-old monk rolled a big snowball and happily built a snowman in the courtyard. The bamboo broom that swept the floor had already been inserted into the snowman's body, and he was alone with the branches, and he didn't even know where he stole several robes and wrapped the snowman tightly one by one.

However, it may be because the nursery rhymes he sang were getting more and more outrageous, so that the senior brother who was sitting under the big tree not far away couldn't listen to it, and interrupted him.

"Bai Congee, if you mess around again, don't blame me for punishing you for fasting. ”

"Oops...... The five aggregates of the monks are empty, and the master has said that the cultivation of Buddha is important in cultivating the mind, as long as there is a Buddha in the heart, everything is to cultivate the Buddha, senior brother, you have nothing to do!"

The little monk who was called white porridge didn't take the other party's words seriously at all, and made a grimace at the young monk under the tree. After grinning, he turned back and continued to hum the snowman, but this time the voice was much quieter.

The Buddha land is as hidden in the world as the Heavenly Valley, and there is no dispute with the world, and few people can know where it is, intruding on the purity of the Buddha land. In the eyes of the outside world, the Buddha land is the Buddha land, but in fact, the Buddha land is just a general term.

The Buddha Land is held by three temples, one is the Daming Temple with the largest number of monks, the second is the Huichan Temple with the most pilgrims, and the third is the Qingye Temple where the white porridge is located.

Aoba Temple is sparsely populated, but it is the strongest among the three temples, and at the same time, it has the most right to speak. Today, all three temples will select the best disciples to be assessed together at Aoba Temple to select a new generation of Buddha land practitioners.

The ascetic of the Buddha land chooses one person every hundred years, and this person is the representative of the Buddha land to travel the world and spread it to the world.

The morning bell is ringing, and the snow is in a hurry. The gate of Aoba Temple opened with the sound of the bell, and the two monks who had been waiting outside the door for a long time walked up to Aoba Temple wearing straw sandals and robes, leaving a long series of neat footprints on the snow.

The young monk sitting under the big tree also heard the bell, knew that the time was up, got up and looked at the white porridge that was still building a snowman, shook his head helplessly, and then stopped caring and walked to the main hall of the temple alone.

In winter, even Fei Hong will leave paw prints in the snow, let alone a person? However, what people didn't expect was that this monk walked barefoot on the snow, not to mention the footprints, even the falling snowflakes were not crushed, and the bell tied to his feet did not make a sound, so it was not weird.

When passing by Bai Congee, the other party also patted Bai Congee's bald head. The little monk only cared about playing with the snowman, squatting on the snow without even looking back.

The bell passed through several corridors, walked barefoot through several courtyards, and the young monk finally came to the treasure hall.

The three senior monks in the hall are in the first place, and more than a dozen monks are sitting on each side, while His Royal Highness is three futons side by side, two of which have already sat on people.

"Excuse me, meet the three abbots!"

Seeing the prayer of relief, in the first place, the fat monk sitting on the far left raised his hand to exempt himself, and the monk's actions showed the treasure pearls, and the countless gems on the robe forced to charm the eyes, so that the golden Buddha beads hanging on the neck were ashamed of themselves.

The fat monk stared at Shi Shu and asked, "Shi Shu, I have been sitting in meditation for 20 years, and now I am out of the customs, can I get something?"

"Back to the abbot of Hui Chan, nothing was found. ”

"Since you have found nothing, what is the point of your zazen?"

Relieved, neither humble nor arrogant, he replied: "Ask for Buddha!"

"Where is the Buddha?" the fat monk continued.

"I don't know, I don't really see it. He replied again.

"Senior brother, is this the disciple you are proud of?" the fat monk twisted his fat and looked at the kind old monk beside him.

The old monk just replied with an unfathomable smile, did not answer immediately, but pointed to the two monks wearing seven strips of clothes sitting next to Shi Shou, and said to him: "The two virtuous monks next to you and you have met for the first time, they are all junior disciples who participated in the external examination with you this time, relieved of your sorrow, you don't slack off." ”

After the old monk finished speaking, the fat monk snorted coldly and turned his head, and Shi Shu also turned around and saluted the two people who were sitting quietly next to him: "Shi Shu has seen two junior brothers!"

Seeing this, the two of them also replied: "I've seen Senior Brother Shi Shu!"

relieved and not pretentious, he accepted the salute calmly, and then sat down on the only grass pu left in the main hall. As for how to know what temple the two of them came out of, looking at the noble body of the abbot of Huichan, it is naturally not difficult to distinguish.

The abbot of Daming on the far right said loudly: "Since everyone has arrived, let's start!"

The other two also nodded in agreement, and the needle drop in the hall was suddenly heard, waiting for the follow-up. Abbot Hui Chan, on the far left, spoke again: "I guess you already know what is going on today, so I will go straight to the point. Today's assessment is very simple, with only three questions. ”

"The first question is to ask the Buddha, starting with the liberation of sorrow, where is the Buddha?"

After Abbot Huizen finished speaking, he looked at Shi Shu. This question is the same question he asked before, so the relieved answer is naturally "I don't know, but I really see." ”

After relieving his sorrow, the great Ming monk sitting in the middle thought for a few breaths, and then raised his head and said, "The Buddha is in my heart!"

And the monk Hui Chan replied without thinking, as well as relieved sorrow: "The Buddha is worshiped in the glorious high hall, and he also survives in the ignorance of the world." ”

After the three answered, the three abbots exchanged glances and did not express their opinions. The abbot of Da Ming on the far right continued: "Next to the second question!"

As the words fell, a small novice had already crossed the crowd and came to the three of them. In his hand he held a square plate containing three objects. One is a round pearl, the second is a grain, and the third is a sandalwood.

This time it was a relief for himself, so he chose the grain. Among the other two, the monk Daming chose sandalwood, and only one pearl was left for the monk Huichan.

After the three of them were selected, under the satisfactory signal of Abbot Aoba, Xiao Shami returned to the back room. When he came out again, there was a commotion, and all the monks except the three abbots looked at him incredulously.

This time, he was still holding the square plate and holding three things, but his hands were a little shaky and his feet were a little soft. Because all three things are exactly the same, and, what's even more terrifying, these are three hot pieces of meat.

The monks have always been compassionate, sweeping the floor for fear of hurting the lives of ants, and cherishing moths and gauze lamps. Wine and meat are the bane of the monks, and killing is the root of all evil, and no one thought that Abbot Aoba would come up with such an exam question.

The smell of meat spread rapidly in the main hall, causing the monks' hearts to sway, and the mouth was not stopped, and everyone had to quickly close their eyes and meditate, and the Buddhist scriptures in their hearts were recited urgently.

The little novice staggered over, and finally stopped the meat in front of the monk Hui Chan. Looking up at the three old hosts of Gujing Bubo, Hui Chan Xian Monk gritted his teeth and picked up a piece of meat, but when he put it to his mouth, he couldn't open his mouth anymore, and finally could only put the meat back.

"Why don't you eat it?" Abbot Aoba asked the monk Hui Chan.

"Wine and meat are the evil of the world, and we are all pure Buddhas, and we are compassionate, how can we do such a vicious thing?"

After the monk finished speaking, he clasped his hands together, grabbed the string of pearls in his hand and kept mourning.

After the Hui Chan monk, the meat piece was brought to the Daming monk. However, the eyes of the great Ming monk were closed for some time, tears rippled, and words like "sin, sin, sin" kept in his mouth.

"Why don't you eat?" Abbot Aoba's face was still pale, and his words were still the same.

"Monks have already let go of the troubles of the red dust and followed the Buddhist path wholeheartedly, and they should practice their bodies strictly, remembering the eight precepts and ten good karma. It is so poisonous, how can it be allowed to erode the Buddha's heart, sin and sin, Amitabha!"

The monk of the Ming Dynasty directly withdrew his legs as he spoke, knelt in the hall, and was reluctant to lift up again, seeing that the three abbots were very pleased.

Three assessments, the meaning of which no one knows. The final level contains so much horror that people can't avoid it. Now that there is only one person left to relieve his sorrow in the end, what choice he will make makes everyone tense their nerves.

Xiao Shami was like a thousand pounds, lifted it with difficulty, and finally fell down with difficulty, standing in front of Shi Shu covered in cold sweat, and laughed silently when he saw it. It wasn't until he stretched out his hand to take the end plate that the little novice was so relieved that he couldn't care about the rudeness anymore, and escaped from the treasure hall like crazy. Because he was in a hurry, he even slipped on one foot and fell out of the snow in the snow.

Normally, the monks would have gathered to laugh at his performance, but today, no one wants to be the one who can run out.

Shi Shu didn't care about any of this, just put the meat on the ground. Glancing at the three abbots, he lowered his head and picked up the chopsticks, and without hesitation, he took a piece of meat and put it in his mouth and chewed it, and swallowed it into his stomach in front of everyone.

In an instant, the entire hall was like a storm crashing on the shore, and the sound of discussion was layer after layer. The monk of Daming knew what was going on, and he chattered faster, while the monk Huichan quietly moved the futon to the side, trying to get away.

"Why eat?" Abbot Aoba still had a similar question.

"It's very fragrant!" replied as he picked up a second piece of meat and put it in his mouth, a scene that made countless monks regard it as a karmic demon.

"Is it delicious?" Abbot Aoba asked again.

"It's delicious!" replied after swallowing the meat.

"Do you still want to eat?"

"Yes!"

"Then let's eat!" Abbot Aoba stopped the noise in the main hall as he spoke, still so tepid that he couldn't hear the slightest emotion, and the relieved man who had been allowed to eat the third piece of meat.

Abbot Huichan's fat body trembled, and his eyes were like a sharp sword. "Do you know the precepts of Buddhism?"

"Yes. He suddenly got up as he spoke, his gaze not evading. He took off his robe, folded it and put it on the futon, swept through the monks in the main hall, and said loudly: "I have been in the tribulation for 30 years, the first five years have survived the heavenly tribulation, the second five years have survived the earth tribulation, and the next 20 years of zazen have not advanced an inch. I've been thinking, what is my human robbery?"

"However, it wasn't until just now that I saw half of the human robbery. I am wholeheartedly seeking the Buddha, but I have not yet seen the Buddha. We all say, I don't go to hell, who does. So I thought, if I'm afraid of the suffering of the world, how can I become a Buddha?"

The words of relief can only be regarded as crooked, but there is also some reason to follow, and the abbot of Daming also said: "Why is it only half?"

relieved: "Because my other half of the calamity is in the whole world!"

The abbot of Daming said: "In this case, from now on you will be a Buddha land practitioner, if what you do damage the reputation of Buddhism, there will be no place for you in the world!"

"Yes!"

After relieving his sorrow, he turned around and walked out of the hall barefoot, and the bells on his feet rang in everyone's hearts.

......

After the little monk of white porridge finished building a snowman, he happily used the white snow to build all kinds of small animals, dogs, rabbits, horses and cows abounded, lifelike.

Just when he was intoxicated, a bell suddenly sounded in his ears, and the little monk looked up suspiciously, but he didn't find anything, only as an auditory hallucination, and continued to bow his head and play with the snowball in his hand.

Behind Aoba-ji Temple, there is a deep pool of deep water, no one knows its depth, and the water is extremely cold all year round, and it is even more cold in winter.

No one noticed that the thick frozen ice in the pool had been broken through a large hole, and a few days later it was hidden by heavy snow. It wasn't until a month later that a bang spread throughout Aoba Temple, and when the monks rushed to hear the sound, they saw only a large pit, and they didn't know what caused it to break through the ice.

Later, I heard that the moment the pool burst open, someone seemed to hear the bell.
