Volume 1 The Beginning Chapter 7 The Road Meets the Returning Traveler

Red Valley, east of the Misty Swamp, is the only access to the Dream Forest. It's early March, and Glori is on his second day passing here.

Soon, Glori heard a voice that had gone through the vicissitudes of life: "Please stop those in front." As he got closer, he realized that it was a wagon carrying goods. "There's a passing carriage here, and I wish I could get a ride. He muttered to himself.

"There's your letter!" shouted the owner of the carriage.

Glori had to look back. There was no one behind, and there was only the carriage on the road ahead.

"What? letter, mine? How is this possible......?" said Glori, "is it from family? How is this possible? I have no way of knowing where they are. And who can afford to hire a messenger to come here to deliver the message?" he turned back and saw the owner of the carriage approaching in his carriage.

The carriage stopped in front of Glori. "Please stop. The man said. A man a little taller than Glori jumped out of the carriage and took Glori's horse by the way. Like Glori, he has short, neat black hair, but has a slightly worn but neat brooch on his chest with a satchel.

A middle-aged man, but with a detached look from the world, Glori looked at the person in front of him. Is there anyone else in the business of returning travelers?, he thought. Returning Traveler is a long-established chamber of commerce organization in this world, covering the entire continent. This organization includes a wide variety of people who are struggling for a living. Of course, they have a lot of personnel, and there are even villains...... There are also some crazy people who are purely interested in this industry...... However, members must be proficient in the use of the magic of the Stone Teleportation Array, as this magic is a prerequisite for using the Carriage Flying spell.

"The returnee is at your service, and no matter when and where, he will fulfill his promises. The man bowed. He looked like a gentleman, even more polite than the nobles. He handed Glori a vellum paper envelope sealed with wax, then got into the carriage and chanted a mantra: "The wind blows...... Traveler ...... "A bright magic circle appeared where the carriage was.

Just then, a large rock struck the carriage, interrupting the returning travelers who were chanting a magic spell. He pulled back the curtain and jumped out of the car, looking up at the canyon, and the magic circle vanished in a flash of light. Then, several huge rocks rolled down one after another. He shifted his pace, dancing deftly past the crumbling rocks. As for Glori, he didn't have time to check the letter before he drew his sword and slashed through the rock that crashed into the carriage.

A figure appears above the canyon. It has large eyes protruding from its forehead, two fangs that cannot be covered by its lips, and its tongue is spitting out from time to time, so that it is dripping. In addition, its claws hold a thick wooden stick made of dead tree trunks, and the head of the wooden stick is tied to a heavy piece of iron.

"Damn, did you chase this here?" the traveler looked at the tall monster in disappointment, but was not afraid.

"Is that the One-Eyed Demon?" Glori looked over puzzled, "There are so few animals here, how could there be such a monster hunting here." He knew that this monster was mostly found in the mountains, and that it would feed on large animals and would not set foot near the city. Thinking that the Returning Traveler could not fight magic, Glori wanted to go up and fight it off, and then rush to the Dream Forest before dark. He was about to go up the slope when he was stopped by his thick arms.

"Wait, honorable guest," said the returnee, "the returnee is willing to serve you." As for the reason, of course, it is because it follows the carriage. I'm sorry for the trouble, but that's the end of this terrible episode. As soon as he finished speaking, another chant of a magic incantation: "Fingertip spark, shine!" and then the tip of his index finger gathered a red flame, which seemed to be a faint flame that was hot and scorching, and drew a dazzling red.

The One-Eyed Demon was struck squarely. Suddenly, the flames burst into flames, and a red light appeared in the eyes of the two of them, and the monster turned into ashes.

"I've heard rumors of the Returnee organization before, and I've seen many messengers, but this is the first time I've seen a figure like you among the Returnees. Glori said in surprise. The magic used by the people around him was more pure than most magicians, and it was still a deadly magic spell.

As Glori pondered, a group of Cyclops appeared above the valley. "......" they muttered to each other with their sticks, and then sprinted into the valley.

"Red sun...... Shine on the earth...... Bask in life, and here I will offer the blood of the faithful in the scarlet to the great god of the sun. O god of the sun, grant me supreme power, proud, blazing flame that can incinerate all......" the traveler chanted, whipping the dagger in his hand. Blood dripped into the magic array beneath his feet, and the magic array shone with bright red light.

Seeing the sky flush, the Cyclops stopped on the slope and retreated in a crowd. With a loud bang, flames fell from the sky. The fire raged, splitting the sky like lightning, blasting the rocky mountain stream to ashes. The One-Eyed Demon was all destroyed.

Glori was dumbfounded. "His magic power is even comparable to that of the three great mages of the kingdom...... "He felt that everything was a sign of the difficulty of this adventure, because the person who came to deliver the message turned out to be like this."

"It seems that it is getting late, and I am about to rush to the city of Redlive in Shennuo to deliver another letter. You can go along if you wish. The returning traveler pointed to the road to the east. Then he recited the incantation, and the flames in the valley vanished.

"That's great, but what do you call you. Glori said lamely. He even had the idea of asking for advice for a moment, but he knew he wasn't good at pure magic.

"Andrew Kronos. I know your name, you are the blue star of the Windscarred Sea, Glori Carlos. Andrew tethered Glori's horse to the side of the car.

"Are there any other returnees like you?" said Glori, using the questions to hide his sadness and melancholy.

"A messenger who can play with fire like below?maybe, the history of the Returnees is too far away, and who knows. Andrew humorously said, "You'd better read the letter first." The client of the letter is a great beauty. Every time I saw her, her soul had to be taken away by her. He just laughed and didn't continue.

"Letter ......" Glori was a little embarrassed, but he didn't have the sadness he had just now.

The sun was slowly setting and the carriage was jolting. As we got closer to Redreeve City, the red-leaved trees in the valley became scarcer, and the other trees became more numerous, and there were occasional hares running along the roadside and low-flying birds.

"Everybody has their own choices, you can't predict fate, you can't predict the future, but you can weave the future, just like the sun, trying to shine every day for what needs it. Andrew looked at Glori, remembering his own child, but only thinking about it, because it was long since we were separated. "I don't need to use the magic of the carriage to just enjoy the scenery. He said again.

"Working for the people who need it, can we change everything? Protect the people you want to protect, but I am not one of the people who can do it. Glori said. As he stirred up another wave of melancholy, three figures in green cloaks leaped out of the forest. Their cloak had a mark on it, which was distinctive on the silk: a white feather with the word "thousand" embroidered on the feather.

"What's that?" Glori had never seen them. Three steel-like bodies of light met his eyes. And that mask-like face surprised Glori even more. One of them raised his steel arm forward, his palm spreading: "Stop, we're going to detain this returning traveler's carriage." "The stiff sound is uncomfortable to listen to, and the headache is the clanging sound.

"That's the Shennuo Guard, the Mechanical Guard, an ancient technology," Andrew replied familiarly, "Looks like we can't go to Redrieve together, so let's say goodbye here?"

"You go first," Andrew said, a little worried, looking at the approaching mechanical guards, "this trouble can't be solved by a single dance. Andrew put his coat down on the wagon. The sound of an automatic music box sounded on the carriage, and it was an organ tune. And so, the battle began. Andrew's flames struck them, but they dispersed easily. With a slip of his foot, he lifted his right hand, and with a tilted head passed under the claws raised by the mechanical guard, then turned to stand, his left hand on his right chest, and bowed...... It's like greeting a dance partner.

Suddenly, the mechanical guard turned his upper body around and stabbed his claws into Andrew's chest. "Beware!, this thing's body can spin," Glori leaped forward, blocking the claws of the two mechanical guards with his sword, "Wait, I seem to have read about it in the Biography of the Dragon God." Is there a way to stop them?" Glori took his sword, jumping, turning, and sliding in Andrew's footsteps.

"These damn machines never get tired until they run out of magical energy. We'd better get in the carriage and get out of here. Andrew said.

So Andrew chanted the incantation: "The wind blows, the traveler returns." Glori jumped into the carriage. The carriage vanished in the magic circle. The mechanical guard, standing still, stopped looking at the magical glow left behind by the carriage.

Before Glori could come to his senses, he took out the letter that had been opened, and looked at it carefully. "Down there is the commander of the Revival Corps, Auraya Daisy. According to the tip, Prince Will Toby Grace has been imprisoned in Redreeve City. You need to find and rescue him, as this is the only way to obtain the Golden Covenant. Olaya wrote bluntly in the letter.

"The revival of the Legion? I didn't expect this legion to really exist, and I didn't expect that I would receive a letter from the commander of the legion here. "Glori has set foot on the land of Redreeve City.

"Young people, if you can't protect the people you want to protect, then become stronger. I don't know what you've experienced, but I'm sure you'll figure it out, this music box is for you. I hope this tragic organ song will accompany you on your voyage. Andrew drove the carriage and disappeared into the night dream forest.

Glori took advantage of the night to climb to the roof of the inn, sat down by the chimney, gazed at the waning moon, remembered what had happened during the day, and fell asleep quietly.
