In short, this word has various meanings in Buddhism, and it is difficult to explain it at all.
In the practice of Buddhism, such questions are often asked to raise or inspect the mental understanding and realm attainment of the disciple's practice. So at first glance this sounds like the simplest question, but it is the most difficult question to answer, in Buddhism the so-called unconscious meeting, let alone consciousness to know, so in Buddhism there is a so-called mistake at every turn, tongue movement beckoning stick.
Asking this question in Buddhism is like asking what the Tao is in the Dao. Generally speaking, in the rules of the Taoist gate, there is some opposite to the Buddhist gate, the Buddhist gate asks what is the Buddha used to investigate, but which one is stronger to read novels on the mobile phone? Because the Dao is mysterious, but it can be testified, not spoken, and no words in the world can clearly explain what the Tao is, so I simply set up a rule and don't ask! The purpose of this is to prevent some disciples from being arrogant. I think I have won the way, and I think I have the way. In fact, the path of cultivation is just a matter of practicing the Tao endlessly, and the Tao is not stopped. That's why Buddhism has the saying that it doesn't matter what it gets, and it doesn't matter if it can't be obtained.
Buddhism asks the Buddha, but Taoism does not ask. Although the two major streams of Foshan Daohai are different, they are the same and the purpose is the same. Whether you ask or not, in fact, it does not prevent practitioners from thinking and verifying in this way, otherwise the Buddha and Taoist ancestors would not have to pass on their practice. In fact, when a practitioner asks what a Buddha is and ponders what the Tao is, he must have already reached the state of knowing his destiny.
After knowing your fate, what you have to face is where your fate comes from. It is the heaven of mission, that is, the immutability in the change of all things, the origin of all things, and the root of creation. The Taoist Gate calls it the Tao, and the Buddhism Gate calls it the Buddha! This kind of face does not linger in the imagination, but really uses the body and mind to verify and confirm the subtlety of this realm, that is, the realm of knowing the heavens.
Now the little monk asked this practitioner with these words, and this practitioner was short, fat, and stupid. Obviously, there is only the cultivation of the state of mind that is not known, and there is an unknown amount of Fa Heaven separated from the realm of knowing the destiny of the Great Perfection. In addition, I am not familiar with Buddhist practice, so of course I don't know how to answer. Why did this careful master ask him a question that he could only ponder at such a high level? Was he deliberately making things difficult to prevent him from entering Foshan? If so, why didn't he just refuse, and why did he have to work so hard to keep the careful master's cultivation, so naturally he didn't have to worry about these cultivators in front of him!
Lu Zheng looked at the short and fat man in the field who was scratching his ears and cheeks, and after a little thought, he understood. It's really not that this little monk is deliberately making things difficult, but that this short and fat cultivator himself wants to go to Foshan. Since he insisted on going to Foshan with such a cultivation realm, he naturally had to choose to face such torture, no one was embarrassing him, and if there was, he was also embarrassed by himself. This is the Buddha's fate in the mouth of the careful master. Since fate has not yet arrived, why force it? So many cultivators are asking for it, but he will not lower his standards with the others. To tell the truth, when such a person with insufficient cultivation came to make a fuss to see Foshan, he did not cast a spell to beat people, which was already very polite! The actions of the masters of Buddhism also have their own subtleties in it.
So many cultivators come to watch Foshan, affecting the purity of Buddhism, be careful that the master comes out to block everyone, but practitioners can block, and there is one thing that cannot be stopped, that is, everyone's heart to the Buddha. Although people may not really have the heart to practice to the Buddha, but when so many people come to Foshan, it is not right for the people of the Buddha to directly refuse to see them, or to cast spells to drive them away. It seems that the people in Buddhism drive people from narrow-mindedness and do not let people get close to the Buddha, which is not a good thing. At that time, although Foshan is indeed only seen because of the Buddha's fate, it will also become a Buddhist person who deliberately embarrasses the practitioners. Buddhism does not need the support of everyone, but people in Buddhism should not become an obstacle to the practice of Buddhism because of their own behavior!
This shows the cleverness of Master Careful's actions, not only did he not stop everyone from coming to see Foshan, nor did he dissuade or cast spells to expel him, but went further, didn't you come to see Foshan? Okay, then let you see. But if there is no Buddha fate, it is naturally impossible to see it, so it is okay to say it to one or two cultivators, but it is not convincing to so many practitioners in front of him. The careful master simply pushed the boat down the river, not only let him see Foshan, but also further proposed a way for everyone to go directly to Foshan, of course, provided that he could answer the questions he asked.
In this way, it is only useful to turn the void into reality, and turn the empty and ethereal Buddha fate into a test of oneself, whether there is a Buddha fate that is no longer so ethereal. In addition, the change from seeing Buddha Mountain to going to Buddha Mountain will make the practitioner feel excited, and make them feel that the trip is worthwhile, and in the end, the practitioner will only blame himself for answering the wrong question, and will no longer feel that it is a difficult problem for the Buddha.
In the final analysis, in fact, it is just a transformation of a form, whether you can go to Foshan, or whether there is a Buddha fate, there is no difference from before, but to instigate changes in people's hearts, can form such a stable situation today, and do not make people's hearts go into restless chaos, it is the mastery of the careful master. Of course, for the first layer of the Buddha's inquest, to be able to inspect the Buddha's relationship from a question, it also requires the master's extremely clever cultivation to do it, but this section is not bluffing.
In fact, there are two kinds of so-called Buddha fate, the first is indeed to have sufficient realms, to break through the knowledge of fate, and to understand the wonders of Buddhist practice, so we can see Foshan. The second is that although the cultivation is insufficient, the realization of the mysteries is in line with the practice of Buddhism. It is also possible to see Foshan, and for such cultivators, people in Buddhism naturally don't mind that they really go to Foshan.
In fact, in the past two days, there have indeed been more than a dozen people who have not practiced enough, but under the problem of Master Careful, those who have realized Buddhism and practiced have been sent to Foshan by Master Careful. These people are not enough to verify, but they have a good heart. Indeed, it can be said that there is a Buddha fate. It is precisely because there are successful people who come first that all these practitioners are so convinced that they dare not make mistakes.
Lu Zheng saw the situation in front of him clearly, and couldn't help admiring this careful master in his heart, so he leaned over and asked the angry monk: "Master, I don't know what kind of identity this careful master is in Buddhism?"
The resentful monk replied, "Master Careful is an elder above the Buddha Mountain, who is responsible for guarding the gate of Foshan and leading the people who go to the Buddha. In Foshan, it is called the introduction of the company. His cultivation has already broken through the realm of detachment from the sky, but the poor monk does not know what realm he has entered. ”

The resentful monk said: "Master Lu, the poor monk has something to explain to you. Although you are invited by a poor monk, you still need to have a Buddha relationship to go to Foshan, otherwise the poor monk will have a heart. I can't take you to Foshan either. ”
Lu Zheng was slightly surprised and said, "That is to say." Do we also need to pass the test of this careful master to go to Foshan?"
The angry monk folded his hands and said: "That's right, and be careful that the master has always been iron-faced and selfless, and will not show favoritism, if any of the three of you can't go to Foshan, please forgive Master Lu!"

The angry monk did not answer, but unhurriedly reached out and raised a finger to stand in front of his chest. A smile appeared on the face of the careful master, and he said with satisfaction: "That's it, you go up the mountain!"
The angry monk put away his fingers and chanted: "Amitabha!" turned around and strode to the place where Master Careful was sitting just now, and his figure suddenly disappeared. Lu Zheng felt that he had entered the Buddhist enchantment, and it seemed that if he wanted to enter Foshan, he needed to pass through this enchantment.
The cultivators were puzzled, they didn't know why the monk raised a finger, and the master let him go up the mountain, could this be the secret word of the people in the Buddhist sect. Immediately, some practitioners secretly thought, this time is cheap, that short and dumpty, if he holds up a finger, then since the careful master let the monk pass, he must also let him go!
