Chapter 39: The Necromancer (Part II)

That's none of it's about it—the ice dragon told himself.

The Giant's Ridge Mountains in the northern part of the ice fields have been the habitat of choice for many ice dragons, but their relationship to barbarians is no different from their relationship to humans or elves or dwarves. Dragons are always feared and hated creatures, even if most of them don't actually like to eat people, and barbarians have nothing to plunder other than livestock.

But its wings flew uncontrollably with it to another camp, the next, and the next...... All the same, empty.

Annoyed by its actions, it ventured farther inland in search of larger settlements, eventually finding a living barbarian as it approached a certain valley.

Barbarians are a fierce and powerful race. But at this moment, those who would not flinch easily in the face of a dragon, men and women, young and old, followed slowly like sheep obediently behind a gray-robed figure. It was a strange sight that made it impossible to turn a blind eye.

It thought for a while and couldn't figure out how to land nearby without being detected, it was too empty for a dragon to hide its body, and its shadow as it fell from the sky could not escape people's eyes.

It simply landed directly in front of the gray-robed man.

The man stopped and looked up at him, his pale and ordinary face showing a hint of surprise, but no fear.

"A dragon, a great creature that does not belong to the gods, I have heard of your existence. He bowed down to him, his voice unexpectedly soft and low. And none of the barbarians who stopped behind him looked up at the great creation.

"What do you want, Ice Dragon? If it's food, you can pick and choose from these people, I guess you don't need to take them all? Of course, that's okay, I don't intend to have any conflict with you because of this. The man was polite, calmer and more natural than anyone he had ever met since he became an ice dragon, and the gloom and cruelty of his understatement made it very uncomfortable.

"I don't eat people. It growled impatiently, "What are you doing here?"

"Why do you need to care about this? Great Ice Dragon, what I do will not pose any threat to you. The man replied.

"Answer me!" it took a step forward, its cold breath turning into tiny snowflakes that landed on the man's body.

"If you must know - give these poor people who are struggling to survive another life. The man replied indifferently.

There was something about him that made the ice dragon crane its neck back in disgust.

"Necromancer. "It remembered that title, and like it, was feared and disgusted by all.

"You may not understand what we seek, but you certainly don't see us as enemies as mortals. The man gestured respectfully to him, "Just as we have never been hostile to your race. ”

Lydia.

As the name popped into its mind, it couldn't help but ask, "Do you know Lydia?"

The man's eyes flickered: "Lydia Bell, our ...... Chieftain. ”

"She asked you to come here?"

"She became the leader because she was the most powerful of us, but that doesn't mean she can manipulate us like skeletons. ”

The ice dragon heard a deep displeasure, but it had nothing to do with it. The mage who claimed to set it free was only trying to use her presence to distract the paladins from her, and she had figured it out at the peak of Esterlo.

"Let these people go. It said somewhat absent-mindedly.

"With all due respect, great ice dragon, you have no authority to command me to do anything more than Lydia. "There is a deep-seated arrogance in the nicks on the man's face.

"But I have the power to make you do anything. The ice dragon said coldly, gradually becoming impatient. The Necromancer's power comes from the skeletons and zombies he manipulates, and those undead cannot appear in the sunlight.

The man seemed to be fearless: "I know your power very well, but you probably don't know anything about me." May I remind you that you will not like the consequences of being my enemy. ”

The contempt in that tone enraged the ice dragon, and it raised its front paws and easily pinned the man to the ground.

"What are the consequences?" it scoffed, "I'll wait." ”

The man's hood slipped back, his bald head without a trace of hair was bloodless, and the blue and red veins were clearly visible under the translucent skin.

He grinned without fear and gave the ice dragon an eerie smile.

A rock slammed down on the ice dragon's back. It roared back for the dastardly sneak attacker, but what it thought was a lump of stone rolled to the side and let out an irrational roar at it.

The ice dragon let go of its front paws in surprise. It had never seen such a twisted creation, like a mass of flesh and blood piled on a tall human skeleton. The dark red muscles were tangled, exposed beyond the tattered skin, and the dull metal chains at the joints made a screeching sound of grinding against the "thing". And its stiff, swollen face froze the last expression of being human—pain, fear, and anger.

The ice dragon recognized the face.

It involuntarily recoiled as it pounced, and its chest was pounded solidly. It was incredibly powerful, its muscles were as hard as rock, it didn't have much of a rancid smell, and it was far more agile than any skeleton knight it had ever seen. After a successful blow, it leaps high again and rushes towards the ice dragon's neck.

The ice dragon straightened up and slammed it to the ground, hesitating without exerting all his strength. It was enough to crush the average human to pieces, but it didn't hurt it much, and it rolled on the ground a few times, landing on all fours like a beast, raising its head and screaming at him, its eyelidless eyes hollow.

The ice dragon had to admit that there was nothing in it that belonged to a human being.

It vibrated its wings, the wind kicked up dust and broken petals, and the few savages who were closer to him retreated under the pressure of the great wind, but they were still in a trance, and the bald man wrapped in gray robes had disappeared without a trace.

It flew backwards low for a distance, then slammed into the ground, wielding its most powerful and deadly weapon of nature against the surging monster.

A cold breath enough to freeze any living thing.

The flowers and plants on the ground were frozen in an instant, and they shattered at the touch of a button. But the monster had no warm flesh to freeze, only stiffened and slowed in the cold spitting. The ice dragon flicked its long, powerful tail and sent it flying a long distance.

It doesn't want to touch it with its paws anymore, just like humans don't want to touch anything disgusting with their hands.

The monster rose again, its neck and left leg twisted at odd angles, but it had long since felt no pain, and it received an order that it would not stop until the body shattered into pieces of flesh that could not be put together.

The ice dragon's long neck stretched out into the sky and let out a thunderous roar. It can't stand this anymore.

It rushed over, unleashing all its fury on the broken, horrible body, tearing and trampling with all its might until a blur of flesh was everywhere.

The barbarian, who was silent and resolute, had helped him for no reason in its most helpless moments, its barely recognizable, tangled head rolled at his feet.

It lowered its head, staring at the empty eyes for a long time.

It doesn't even know his name.

For a moment it wished that only the body had been distorted, that whatever god or ancestor the barbarian believed in had accepted his innocent soul.

And its anger is far from subsided.
