Chapter 40: Skeletons Under the Moon
Ace finds himself faced with a problem that shouldn't be a problem.
He had to go back to Ankland. He didn't know or care why the necromancer was there, but he might have to turn back into an ice dragon to defeat the summoned undead, and if he was lucky, he would be able to tear the mage apart without letting him escape from his clutches again. But in the current situation, it is clear that the elf will not let him go back alone.
"You want to go back. Norway saw through his agitation at a glance.
"I want to go back, alone. He emphasized, stiffly.
"It's true that I don't know magic, but I'm an elf after all, and I have a good resistance to spells, and my sword might help. "Novi's sincere and soft tone makes it difficult to refuse,
"You don't want to leave me here alone!" Tess protested, but didn't dare to say too much.
"Unless you're willing to plug your ears and keep Mochi ready to bite you again. "Otherwise, you'd better stay here......
"I do. Tess said categorically.
Ace glared at her—they didn't seem to be going to ask him if he wanted to.
"Okay. Finally he agreed, "You'd better keep up." ”
The human body is really inconvenient - but he can still be a little faster than a normal human.
“...... This is not surprising at all. Tess looked at Ace's back, which had disappeared completely in the moonlight, and didn't even try to keep up.
"That's true. Norway smiled and said, "This man is not very good at lying. ”
Ace's face had no expression, but when he said "okay", his eyes looked away unconsciously for a moment. In the bright moonlight, the elf wouldn't miss that.
"So what did you do?" Tess asked, then wrinkled her nose and sniffed hard, discerning the presence of a faint scent in the air.
"Try to see how smart your nose is, it's not like he's smellless now. The elf wasn't completely sure, "I hope it doesn't get windy." ”
"I'm not a dog!" Tates grumbled dissatisfiedly, but obediently plugged her ears and followed the faint but not easily dissipated smell as she took a cautious step.
When they reached the strange crevasse, Ace was smashing a skull's head with a neat punch.
"Oooh!" Tess complimented succinctly and forcefully, as her ears were blocked and her voice was unusually loud.
A bunch of Sensen's skeletons, sensing the breath of the living and turning to her, made her take several steps back, their black holes in their eye sockets as if they could really see her presence.
Norway drew his sword and met him. The improvised summoned undead were stiff and not difficult to deal with, but the number of skeletons roaming around was quite numerous, though mostly mutilated.
The elves had to avoid several dirt pits. The marks left by the skeletons crawling out of the ground were everywhere, and they themselves were often tripped, and the skeletons that had been forcibly held together by magic were sometimes scattered and trembling and put together.
"It's the craziest I've ever seen in my life...... It's the funniest thing again!" Tess exclaimed. Norway had to gesture to her in between fights to take out the earbuds. There is no crying sound here.
The red-haired girl pulled out the cork from her ear, picked up a wrist-sized branch from the ground, and slammed it into the skeleton in front of her—it was obviously better against the enemy in front of her than the small dagger in her belt. When the skeleton she had smashed to the ground stood up again, she began to feel less funny.
Norvi's longsword glowed with a faint white light. It was a blessed weapon. He leaned to his left, avoiding the whistle of the wind, but with no skill slashing straight down the scimitar, recognising the graceful arc of the blade and the elven words engraved on it, which had not been completely erased by thousands of years.
These horrible and ridiculous skeletons had been his kind—they were buried with the cursed city, and their remains did not deserve such desecration, no matter where their souls ended.
The anger darkened his eyes, but it didn't make him lose his mind. Noticing Tess's predicament, he returns to the girl after solving the opponent in front of him and fights alongside her, while being surprised to find that Ace has knocked down more skeletons empty-handed than he and Tess combined.
"He doesn't look like a mage at all, does he?" said Tess gleefully, "I like him like that, much cuter than that cold, awkward kid." ”
The "cold awkward child" violently stomped on the sternum under his feet, and couldn't help but let out a low curse.
"Where's the mage?" asked Norway aloud.
"Down!" roared Ace angrily.
The elves had noticed that the trees that were messed up in the cracks had been moved aside, and dirt and stones were piled up on either side of the cracks. The necromancer apparently used the skeletons here as coolies, quickly completing the work that would normally take ten days to complete.
What secrets are buried in the underground of Ankeland that deserves such a lot of effort on the part of a necromancer? It is not easy to summon so many undead.
Ace's sure answer made him even more uneasy.
And Ace's heart is more irritable at the moment. It was impossible for a dragon to squeeze into such a crack, and the aura emanating from that crack was so ominous that he could not be careless.
He had no choice but to fight with a human body - with a human body, like a dragon. Simple and crude, but tied to his hands and feet, it is a miracle that he has not tripped himself on the ground.
They had finally eliminated all the skeletons on the ground, and the trembling bones were still eerie, but for a long time, they were no longer a threat. Ace was sure that the necromancer could sense the changes here, which meant that there was something more important underground for him to venture out on.
"We've got to go down. The elf said.
They stood on the edge and looked down at the bottom of the crack, where a hole had been dug diagonally downward, making it look like an entrance to hell.
Tess shuddered.
"Not a good idea. She said, "But I guess I don't have a choice." ”
Ace frowned: "You don't have to ......"
"He has desecrated the bones of my people. The elf interrupted him for the first time, his tone calm but unequivocal.
"And a successful adventure must be without a thief like me. Tess said without changing her face.
"Okay......" After a long silence, Ace said, this time no longer looking away, just completely helpless.
For some reason, there seemed to be a faint sound in the ears of a young human being:
"It's fate!"
qidian.
