Once a thing is completely dependent on imports, the right to speak is in the hands of others. Due to competitive considerations, foreign crankshaft suppliers have repeatedly adopted restrictive policies against China, and even if they agree to supply, the cycle is intolerably long. Domestic diesel engine factories are often limited by the supply of crankshafts, and cannot manufacture the diesel engines required by shipyards, which is the so-called "engine equiaxes".

The reason why large crankshafts cannot be manufactured in China is due to the manufacturing difficulty of crankshaft processing equipment, that is, CNC heavy-duty crankshaft milling-turning compound machine tools. The length of the workpiece can reach 15 meters and the weight can reach 180 tons, and the machining accuracy error cannot exceed 0.02 mm, which is 1/4 of a hair. A crankshaft includes the main journal, crank journal, flange and other parts, which need to be fully finished on a single machine.

So far, only Germany and Japan in the world have mastered the manufacturing technology of this machine tool, and even Japan's technology is not enough, and the performance indicators of machine tools cannot be compared with Germany.

In the past few days, a large container ship undertaken by the shipping company is about to be launched, but the diesel engine supporting it has not been delivered.
