Chapter 12: A Failed Adventure
They returned to Karnak as fast as they could, led by Baie, and no doubt he flatly refused to allow the dragon seekers to continue their little adventure.
"It's hard for even the most experienced adventurer to climb Estero this season, not to mention that there are no dragons there at all. He said.
He didn't know where the children were going, but Jules, who had asked him to help watch the children, said that if there was no danger, the children didn't have to stop what they wanted. But he wasn't going to follow them stupidly all the time, and he was originally going to get them back after they crossed the Dragonwing Peak. Although there were quite a few accidents, everything was in his plan at the moment, and he had no intention of changing anything.
"But, I have this map!" Ed struggled as he waved his map.
"Where did you get that? Do you really believe this? For a few copper coins I can buy back a dozen of these maps with all the treasures and monsters you want to know. Bye tore through the map and tossed it back, scoffing, "That skeleton knight rotting in the ground is much more real than this, I have to go back to the temple to inform the others, and you," he swept everyone's faces with the stern gaze, "When I get back to the village, stay at home for me." β
Ed bit his lip in frustration, he didn't even see the skeleton warrior!
Isis and Narya exchanged uneasy looks. They retrieve Is's horse, but Naria's little mare and Elven Sword Andrea are completely missing, and Eren will undoubtedly know about their little adventure. Eren had never lost his temper with them in Is's memory, but this time he had a rather bad premonition. Judging by Naria's expression, she had the same concern.
The teenagers gather together at camp at night to discuss in the smallest voices how to hide from their parents, and Beye, who pretends to be asleep, finally can't help laughing out loud when Ed suggests slamming him in the head with a rock to make him lose his memory.
"I don't think that's a good idea. Ed said immediately, like it wasn't his idea at all.
"I have a lot more important to do than to complain to your parents, so if you shut up and sleep quietly now, I might really forget something. Baie said, he didn't even open his eyes.
There was a brief silence, followed by a sound of soot. After a while, a cold finger hesitantly poked at his bare hand.
"I could keep a vigil. Isis whispered, "I'm not sleepy at all. β
He knew where his affection for Bye came fromβhe knew Scott, and they were both knights of the god of water. That alone was enough for him to believe in and like Beye.
Baie glanced up at him slightly.
He had heard the story of a little boy that the adventurers picked up on their way home. He had also heard of that version of "Scott and his illegitimate son". From what he knew about Scott, he believed that the former was the real thing, but looking at the innocent and fearless blue eyes that the boy was almost identical to Scott, it was hard to believe that they were not actually related by blood.
He healed the wounds on Is's body with ease, and they were basically just scrapes. It was a marvel for the berserker-like fighting style of Isis he'd seen. Scott would never teach his brother that, and Eren was obviously more skillful in fighting, and Iss behaved more like pure instinct, but it was the opposite of his usual quiet and well-behaved appearance.
Strange kids.
Byan pondered, remembering the red light that flashed in the dark underground, only night visioners. He did have a little curiosity, but that didn't matter at the moment.
"You can stay up in the middle of the night. He agreed. When the boy smiled, he felt a sudden guilt in his heart.
He did not dare to tell him that the paladins had given up looking for his brother on the orders of the king and the temple, even though he did not think there was anything wrong with the order - Scott was apparently dead. His friends are still trying, but they all know how little hope there is.
Alan Carvo used up all his good fortune a long time ago, and he knew that. And the surname Delian has a worse meaning than "bad luck" - it is pure tragedy.
He really shouldn't have changed his surname.
When he returned to the village of Karnak, which was temporarily called "home", he was greeted only by an empty room, and the children had apparently been away from home for days, otherwise Naria would never have allowed a little dust on the table.
At first, he thought the children had gone to Chrysers Castle to be with their friend Ed, but soon learned that the little master of Chrysersburg was "learning how to become a paladin in the temple of the god of water". Isis and Narya were seen riding away from the village, but no one knew where they had gone. And whether "Iss went to the temple with Eddard" or "Isis and Naria are missing" is absolutely bad news.
He simply didn't know which one was worse.
Jules had just returned to the village. He tells Alan that he has Bye take care of the children for him - if something happens, Bye is capable enough to protect them, but if something happens to Is...... He wasn't sure if Baie would be able to keep it a secret.
He walked up and down in the deserted room, his headache worse than the broken leg, his mind churning with a scene worse than the last, restless and weak. When night fell, he lit candles in every room, stayed all night, and decided to go to the temple early tomorrow morning.
He prepared for the worst and spent the whole night coming up with various plans. Therefore, when he heard the door knock in the early morning, and saw the children standing in front of the door with bloodshot eyes, he really didn't know the uncontrollable urge in his heart, whether he wanted to pounce on them and hug them or beat them up.
The expression on his face must have been wonderful, for even Baie took a step back unconsciously.
"You're back early, it's ...... Yes," he said, "and we'll be back as soon as possible, at least everybody's all right." He looked like he wanted to leave immediately.
"It's cold. Naria said, pretending to be casual and trying to squeeze through Alan's side through the door. This brave attempt made Ed respectful, and he could feel Allen's anger at the end, as if there were countless arrows stuck in him.
Without saying a word, Eren blocked the door with his cane. Naria bit her lip and turned back to give Isis a pleading look. Eth hesitated to step forward, and glanced back at Baie.
The paladin sighed heavily.
"Listen, Alan. The kids will tell you what's going on, but I have more important things to discuss with you, can we go in and talk about it?"
Alan grimaced and stepped out of the way. He still wasn't sure if he wanted to hug first and then beat him up or hit him up and then hug him, and maybe it would be a good idea to decide later.
"Go back to your room. He said, trying to make his voice sound a little more ferocious. But when he relaxed and leaned against the door with relief, he felt powerless, as if he had just escaped from a great battle.
"Come on. Baie patted him on the shoulder, "You won't like the news I brought." And," he grinned, "I gotta say, I'm glad I don't have children." β
Eren glared at him with the most somber gaze.
qidian.
