Chapter 25: Humans Who Don't Know How to Give Up (Part II)
Ed wrapped himself tightly in the thick blanket and stared gloomily at the stone statue in front of him. The life-size statue was a noble knight in armor, I don't know which generation of the Chryses family was, standing silently by the rose stand in the backyard, and although his head was unfortunately knocked off by the stone thrown by the ice dragon, he still stood there stubbornly.
Vala definitely has the stubbornness of the family in her bones. She had a big fight with her husband and succeeded in getting River to agree to rebuild the castle. The top one or two floors of the castle were almost destroyed, but most of the bottom two floors were still there.
"I almost barely managed to fix it!" River couldn't help but complain to his son, "Now I have to do it all over again, do you know how much it costs!!"
"I think you should go to the Temple of Collins and ask for compensation, they're not poor. Ed, whose face was flushed with a fever, suggested very calmly.
River walked away with a pensive expression.
Yesterday he praised Ed a little proudly: "The temple agreed to lose money, although not a lot, but it is better than nothing." Then he looked at his son's face curiously: "You know they say that dragon...... No, the man before it became a dragon, your friend, isn't Alan Derian's son but Scott Christus's brother? โ
Ed coughed violently in surprise. But when you think about it, it doesn't seem surprising. He had heard of the boy who everyone thought was Scott's illegitimate son, who disappeared after Scott left the castle. He had always felt that Delian was no ordinary carpenter, that they might have been friends, and that Scott had left Isis in his care before leaving.
River nodded in satisfaction at his son's reaction, "You know, they almost wanted to use that reason not to pay, because Is-Chrissus destroyed his own castle. But I told them that if they confessed that it was Isse Christus, a human, they would have to admit that they had put a poor enchanted child in a dark, cold dungeon and forced him to become a dragon. If they are sure that it is a dragon, an evil monster disguised as a human being, they will have to pay for it, because they were negligent in their duties and did not keep it properly, and we, who have been deceived and ruined our homes, deserve to be compensated. โ
Ed reluctantly smiled in response, but his heart sank.
If the paladins had believed that Isis was just a dragon, they would have killed him, and they didn't care at all, except for Jules, who didn't know if he died at Iss's hands, not a single person died in the disaster of the temple and castle.
Rather than believing that it was a miracle, Ed would rather believe that Iss didn't really want to hurt anyone. Maybe he changed his form, maybe he wasn't human at all, but the blonde boy who was quiet and kind, and would not hesitate to use his body to block lightning for him, must still exist somewhere.
He was convinced of it.
"That's Is. Whatever becomes of him, we have to find him, and we will take him home. Naria said firmly.
Her eyes were red and swollen, but the momentum of standing in front of Eren with her arms crossed was not weak at all.
Alan sat there silently with a cup of hot chamomile tea in his hands, not knowing how to react. The bones all over his body were screaming, and the pain seemed like they would fall apart in the next moment, and every muscle was sore and hard than the bread that Nalya had absentmindedly thrown at him yesterday.
He thought he was really old.
From the moment Isis flew out of the temple in the form of a dragon, he knew that there was no way to convince the paladins that it was just a young man who had been unfortunate enough to be enchanted by an evil mage - the dragon was not even the creation of the gods, and no one could be strong enough to conjure a living dragon.
He could only try to distance himself from Scott's relationship with the dragon. Up to now, everyone except Baie, who was furious and suspicious of everything because of the death of his twin brother, believed that they had only been deceived by the too cunning creature. It made him feel bad, and he blamed all the blame on the kid who didn't know anything...... An ice dragon who doesn't know anything, and is still a toddler for the age of his race. But if he doesn't, he won't have a chance to help him escape from the people.
He cursed Celebrion ten thousand times in his heart. The half-elf priest had vanished like Scott, without the slightest news, and he needed him now more than ever.
The paladins are ready to set off for Estero. The ice dragon's lair is quite secretive, but if Iss found that place - if he knew what they had done, he might have flown back in anger and tore him to shreds, perhaps even razing Karnak to the ground.
If he can't find it, he keeps wandering there...... The well-prepared knights of the god of water were by no means enemies that he could deal with now.
Eren had lost a leg, and even if he could avoid the paladins who were already patrolling under the peak, he would not be able to climb Estero, and he had no way to warn the powerful ice dragon who had no experience in survival and was only alive by instinct for now.
- And it's likely that he'll never listen to him again, but just shoot him straight into a puddle of mud.
He glanced at his daughter, then shook his head. There was absolutely no way he would let her go on the risk.
"Even if you don't agree, I'll find it myself. Naria said, she could see what was going on in her father's head, "Until then, you'll have to tell me everything!"
She was sure that Eren still had a lot of secrets hidden from her.
"I'm not going to let you out, I'm not going to tell you everything. Alan said stiffly, "It's useless to tie up a bunch of them against the paladins of the water god." โ
Naria bit her lip in exasperation, where there were already deep tooth marks. She knew her father was right. Despite being a very good fighter himself, he never taught her any fighting skills, and apparently never intended to set his daughter down the same path as him. She didn't have a problem at first, after all, she was much more interested in being a cook than in venturing around, but the current situation made her regret it.
"There's always a way!" she said stubbornly, "you've never got anything powerful...... What's that called, magic item, artifact?"
Alan smiled wryly: "I found one, and it almost killed us all." And this," he said, turning the ring in his hand, "could teleport me to the tower of Christusโbut it didn't exist anymore. โ
"It's not just teleporting there. Someone whispered in the darkness.
Naria turned vigilantly, she didn't hear the door knock.
โ...... I thought you died in a world that no one had ever been to. Alan said angrily.
A thin figure slowly walked out of the darkness, and the white robe wrapped around it was even more almost gray.
"I thought you would have a better temper when you're older. There was a rare warmth in the half-elf priest's voice, and he bowed slightly to greet Naria, "Ellen's daughter, it's a pleasure to meet you. โ
"When have you ever been happy. Allen said. Naria had never heard her father speak to anyone like that, but she was glad to see him suddenly regain his vitality, "I have used thousands of ways to find you!"
Keller Brian pulled down his hood disappreciatively: "I said I would find you when necessary." His hair was longer, but it was no longer the silver-gray that Allen was familiar with, but an extremely dull grayish-white. The near-death color gave Eren a sense of foreboding.
"What have you been doing all these years?" he asked, "how did you get yourself like this?"
"Nothing important. Keller Brian replied calmly, "Nothing is more important than what should be done now." โ
qidian.
