The first play staged at the reorganized Taganka Theater was Lyubimov's meticulously adapted and repolished "The Good Man of Sichuan Province", which made Lyubimov the first Soviet director to try to apply the theory of "epic theater" of Brecht, the original author, to practice.

As Lyubimov said, at that time, the Stanley system dominated the Soviet theater, and Brecht was considered to be theoretically opposed to Stanny, and naturally, Soviet audiences at that time rarely had the opportunity to watch plays outside of Stanley.
