Gym [Japanese: ジム, English: Gym]

【A place for trainers to hone their minds and bodies with Pokémon!】

――――――――――――――――――――

The Pokémon Gym, a place set up by the Pokémon Alliance in cities around the world to test the abilities of trainers, is a special kind of educational institution.

The predecessor of the dojo was a dojo opened by retired trainers in the past to teach training techniques that had been honed over the years. The founders of these dojos are not lacking in celebrities, and they are divided into different genres according to their strengths. It is said that the founder of the Nibi Shokan was the acting master of the Ryūken Rock Stream.

The dojos that have inherited this characteristic have their own good attributes, and there are still many dojos that are called famous to this day.

The Ministry of Culture of the Union has implemented a system of gym certification, and official permits are distributed according to the ratio of one gym per 10,000 children. Large cities with more than 10,000 children have a school district system, so many large cities have several dojos. For example, Shinshin Town usually does not have a gym in a small town with a small population.

The functions of the gym are as follows:

1. Fight against the trainers who come to challenge

The owner needs to fight and guide the trainers who come to the door. Badges are awarded to Trainers who win the Challenge or are deemed to have passed the level.

One of the necessary requirements for challenging the regional league is to collect eight badges in your region, so most of the gyms will never be left unattended. Such a system allows most newcomers to develop a comprehensive combat ability against different attributes through the battle against the hall owner.

2. Accept the initial Pokémon claim application from newcomers, and accept and breed wild Pokémon

For cities with a large number of people, the quota of the Pokémon Center and the Institute of the Royal Three is far less than the newcomers who set off in the same batch. For this reason, newcomers who fail to apply for the Gosan family will usually submit an application to the local gym to help subdue the wild Pokémon around the city.

3. Assist the police department in maintaining law and order in the city

In a society that values the training of trainers, the gym represents the image and façade of a city. In the event of a major crisis in the city, the police department can seek help from the local gym. If the situation is serious, the owner will also need to obey the Alliance's dispatch to help maintain law and order or fight criminals.

Although the official dojos have changed their form and separated from the dojos, many of them still retain the style of the dojos of yesteryear, and the owners of the dojos will take in apprentices and hold training classes, such as the superpower training class in Kaneki City, which is quite famous in the Kanto region.

Some of the owners also have the status of representatives of a certain genre. There are also curators who try to create a genre with the help of their positions. For example, Fujiki, the owner of the martial arts gym in the Hoenn area, is the head of the [jutsuquan] school. And his senior brother, the king of martial arts, Xiba, is the head of the [Gang Fist] school. When they were young, both of them studied at the Zhanlan City Fighting Gym, where they studied under Ah Si, the owner of the Zhanlan Gym.

The operating expenses of the gym were provided by the alliance, and the funds were sufficient, so the owner of the gym became a profession similar to that of a civil servant. If you want to become a gym owner, you need to study and graduate from a trainer school and obtain a vocational trainer certificate.

The Alliance's policy has many benefits for gym owners, such as the right to use the Hualan Gymnasium for free to perform at the Hualan Gymnasium.

Becoming a gym owner can not only receive a higher salary, but also a hall owner with high popularity and strength can also open training courses to earn extra money, so a gym owner has always been a more sought-after job.

For this reason, the alliance has set up a hall master review system, and vocational trainers need to pass a strict hall master examination before they can take over the gym. If a Pavilion's monthly win rate is less than 30%, the Alliance will re-evaluate the Owner's strength. Owners who fail in the review will have their qualifications revoked and must forcibly transfer the hall to another person.

According to rumors, in order to keep their well-paid jobs, some weaker gym owners in remote towns will use money to buy the trainers to deliberately lose the game to improve the winning rate and avoid a bad review. However, this is only a very rare example, the vast majority of pavilion owners will hone their skills day and night, and some pavilion owners' strength has even reached the threshold of the heavenly king level.

There is a gym column on the GT Forum, where trainers can rate and evaluate the owners of each gym.

Before performing a gym challenge, you need to authenticate yourself on the battle recorder next to the challenger's seat, and the hall owner can browse the trainer's competition history to determine the trainer's strength, and adjust his combat style based on this. Therefore, in the face of different levels of challengers, the strength displayed by the hall owner will also be different.

Winning the Gym Challenge will give you a bonus and a skill machine. The prize money is 1500 pd for the first challenge, and the amount increases by 500 pd each time you try. Starting from the eighth challenge, all prizes after that are fixed at 5000PD.
