It is well known that among the seven oceans known as the "Seven Seas", the largest is the Midpolar Ocean. It is located east of the Kanto region and west of the Carlos region, with a latitude that spans almost the entire globe and is directly connected to the Arctic Ocean.

At a time when science and technology are already highly developed, the Midpolar Ocean has still not been explored, and there are not even clear enough satellite images. This is because most of the Mid-Arctic Ocean is part of the Unknown, with chaotic clouds obscuring the sky and making it impossible to easily see what it looks like. However, despite the dangers of the Midpolar Ocean and the death of countless explorers, the Alliance has never stopped exploring it.

In the year 948 of the Elven calendar, the Pokémon Alliance sent numerous expeditions to Nanami, which is said to be the location of the Forest Temple, in order to obtain the technology of directly transmitting information regardless of the spatial span recorded in the ancient books of the "Forest Temple", to find clues to the temple. This initiative, known as the "Grand Voyage Project", is still a project that is still heavily valued today.

In the year 981 of the Elven calendar, the Crusades led by Starstorm White Night discovered an unknown land in the ocean - the description of "large islands" is perhaps more accurate than land. It is only one-third the size of an area, and the topography is very complex. Forests, mountains, beaches, ice fields, and a wide variety of minerals and Pokémon – due to their high research value, Coalition expeditions are stationed all year round.

There is a saying in the ancient texts that guided the Great Voyage Plan: "The temple of the forest sank on the other side of the sea" - this is the reason for the name of the place on the other side.

Its existence is currently classified by the Alliance, and few people know about it. However, the logbook found on the shipwreck of the Kira Maru proves that voyagers arrived here as early as 275 in the Elven calendar

In the year 950 of the Elven calendar, gray crystal proved to be a very suitable new material for making computer chips. At present, the Pokémon Alliance has not yet mastered the method of artificially synthesizing gray crystals, and relies on the needs of mining gray crystal veins to maintain production and life. The area of the other side is not more than one-third of the area of the Guandu region, but there are a large number of gray crystal veins in it that are much higher than the Guandu - this is also the greatest benefit that the discovery of the other side has brought to the Alliance.

The main task of the expedition stationed in the other side is to find the location of the gray crystal veins and to draw a detailed map of the other side.

Occasionally, young trainers come here to experience and grow their strength.

According to some of those who have been to the other side, there are strange visions that cannot be seen on other continents. Ruined buildings that appear from time to time, Pokémon with unusual physique, or sudden thunderstorms. Many of the members of the expedition believed that there was indeed a mysterious power in the other land, and that its roots might be related to the glorious era thousands of years ago.
