Volume 1: The Poem of Departure Chapter 43: Cards
Let's take a look at it.
Disguised as petty nobles, Delkora and Satya followed the strange man through the crowd. They thought they would have to walk for a long time, but after a few minutes of walking, the man took them to a dwelling. The house was down the street, not too far from the elementary school, and the guards at the entrance of the school could even be seen hereβDel Kora, who thought it was some kind of deception or kidnapping, immediately dispelled most of his suspicions.
The house was small, but it looked neat, and the houses on this street all had their own yards, and everyone else's yards were piled up with miscellaneous items, but here there was a lawn planted - not weeds, but the kind that was specially planted and carefully tended. Although it is not as beautiful as the garden of the mayor's house, it can also highlight the identity of the owner of this house in comparison with the ordinary houses around.
Mainly, it is not cheap to maintain such a regular lawn. At the very least, this shows that the owner of the house still has some wealth - relatively speaking.
The man pushed open the door and walked in with the two of them, then pointed to the house and said, "Our boss is there, and when you go in, you can say that Kuso brought you here." I'm still in a hurry to go home, I wish you all a happy fun!"
Without waiting for Delcora to speak, the man ran away like a gust of wind.
"He's hiding here?" Satya frowned as she looked at the man's back running away, "but she didn't feel fear. It seems that he simply doesn't want to come in. β
"I didn't sense any fear on his part, which suggests that he wasn't coerced by this mysterious boss," Del Colamo rubbed his chin, "but he was really happy." β
"There are many explanations, but it's best not to jump to conclusions until you determine the specifics. Satya said, stepping forward and pushing open the door.
There aren't many ornate decorations in the room, and if you really have to find an adjective, you can only say "neat". But there are many holy lamps lit in the room, not only on the roof, but also in the corners, on the table, and in many places there are large and small bulbs, and the brightness of each bulb is adjusted just right, not dazzling, but the whole room is brightly lit. Although the holy light lamp is not expensive, but the average person really does not turn on so many light bulbs at the same time - in fact, as long as the brightness of one light bulb is turned to the maximum, the whole room can be brightened.
But you're really looking for enjoyment, why are you here?
A little rich man who clumsily imitated aristocratic life?Delcora almost wanted to make up his mind, but thinking of the near-deserted appearance of the man he had brought them with him just now, he felt that he should wait a while before making a judgment.
"Oh, are you back?"
The door in the corner of the living room opened, and a well-dressed human with monocles walked out, still holding a thick book. When he saw Delcora and Satya, he raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, "Little one, who are you? What are you doing here?"
"A guy named Cuso brought us here, and he ran away," Del Cola shrugged, "I heard him say, is there a kara card here to play?"
"Ah...... Indeed, it was Cocuo who introduced you. Okay, please be seated. The man closed the book and said calmly, "Introduce myself, my name is Richard." What did Cuso tell you?"
"He said that his boss was a rich man who liked to play karao, but no one here could play it, and that his boss wanted to find a nobleman who could play a game and give him ten silver coins," Del Cora briefly repeated Cuso's words.
"Hmm...... He lied to you. Richard shook his head a little disappointed, "I'm not a rich man, and there are a lot of people here who can play Kara. But he was right, if you play a few games with me, I'll really give you ten silver coins. β
"Why?" Del Cora blinked, "If there really are a lot of people who can play, you don't have to spend ten silver coins for it-"
"No, no, no one wants to play with me anymore. Richard smiled, "They say I'm too good at poker." β
"......" Del Cora looked at him a little speechless.
This sentence actually disrupted his mind - he thought it was a gambler who won money by playing cards, but what was this?
"Don't look at me like that, young man, that's true. Richard smiled, "I know what you're thinking, but unfortunately I'm not a liar, so I have to make it clear to you in advance." I like to play cards, but I don't want to offend anyone, especially a nobleman. β
"Well, I'm thinking too much, and I apologize to you for what I just thought," Del Cola said generously after being poked out of his inner thoughts, "Then I don't need to pretend to be a fool - to be honest, I'm pretty confident in my poker skills." Most of the time, I'm the one who wins the most. β
"Being arrogant is a big no-no, and it will make you lose your cool judgment," Richard admonished, and walked back to his study, where he had a thick stack of cards in his hand.
"You can priori the cards. Richard handed him the stack, "As a magician, I think you should have a way to tell if the deck has been tampered with." β
"Even if I'm not a magician, I can tell if a deck is real or fake, and I'm all too familiar with Kara cards. Delkora put the cards on the table, stretched out his hand, and all fifty-six cards were joined in a straight string on the table. He put his hand on the pile and quickly counted them one by one, and the forty-nine cards were quickly back in the stack, and Delkora nodded in satisfaction.
"It's not a new card, but it's well preserved, and there's no problem with the magic circle on it," Del Cora said, putting the cards back on the table, "We need a dealer - sir, if you trust me, can you have my companion act as a dealer?"
"I believe in the cultivation of a nobleman," Richard smiled, "of course." β
The table in Richard's living room is taller than the usual coffee table, long, with two couches on either side and two single sofas on either side, making it more like a conference room than a living room. But this "meeting room" is also quite suitable for a simple gaming table. The two sat on the couches on either side, and Satya stood in the middle of them, holding a deck of cards.
"Are you ready?" she asked, facing the two of them. After receiving an affirmative reply, she began to deal the cards in earnest.
Let's start with the rules of Kara. Kara is the name given to a specific set of cards, divided into seven characters, each with seven cards, plus seven separate character cards, for a total of fifty-six cards. Each character represents seven professions: king, prime minister, nobleman, wealthy merchant, soldier, worker, and peasant, and has different points from one to seven. The upper part of the front part of the card is depicted with a character, the bottom half is a shining doji corresponding to the number of points, and the back part is different depending on the type of card. Kara cards are divided into two-player and multiplayer, and support up to seven players at the same time (multiplayer generally uses two or three decks at the same time), and two or more people are different ways to play - because there are only two people on the field, Del Cola and Richard, so only the rules of two-person play are introduced.
In the two-person gameplay, the two people each have a character card, and the initial ten points of the character card are not set in the two-person gameplay, so you can choose the character at will, and there is no difference. After selecting the character cards, the dealer deals each of the two sides three hole cards, which are kept secret, and no one knows the number and character of the hole cards until the game progresses to a certain extent. In addition to the hole cards, the dealer will deal nine cards to each person, and both sides can freely choose the open cards of the nine cards, five of which are placed on the table, and four black cards are placed in the hand, and the nine cards are the hand, and the dealing phase ends.
The official start phase is turn-based, with each player playing their hand once per turn, but only the five cards on the table can be used in this phase. When there are black cards in the opponent's hand, you can use the open card to collide with the opponent's open card, if the point is greater than the opponent, then the opponent's losing card is discarded, your own card minus the corresponding points left on the field, the dealer replaces the points of the cards in the field (the kara cards have a mezzanine, a simple magic array is drawn, the doji on the card representing the points can be manually replaced, if it is an expensive advanced card, you can automatically replace the points after the collision); γ If the value is the same, both cards are discarded at the same time.
If a player has less than five cards on the field, then the next active turn can choose to show a black card on the field, this card cannot be used in the current round, and this action does not affect the discard in this round.
When the number of cards on one side is lower than the opponent, in the opponent's active round, the opponent can choose to attack again after attacking a card, but can only attack the character, if the number of cards attacking is less than or equal to four, the attacking character drops one point, if the card points are greater than or equal to five, the character drops two points. After each attack, the value of the attack card is forced to drop to one point. The attacked party can choose to use a hole card to resist the attack, then the attack card is still forced to drop to one point, the character does not drop points, and the hole card is discarded after the hole card is revealed.
When a hand has no more than three cards, the active turn can choose to reveal one or two hole cards, which can be used to replenish one's character points, one to four points to oneself, and five to seven to two points, but not to exceed the maximum number of character points. It can also be placed on the field, and the hole cards can be used directly on the field.
If one of the player's points is reduced to zero, the other team wins the game, and when one of the players loses all the cards in the game, the game will automatically end and the points of both characters will be counted. In the end, the player with more points wins the small round, and if the number is tied, the first player to fold all the cards wins.
The second small game of hole cards inherited, has been used the hole cards do not supplement, the cards used in the previous round and the remaining hands are all discarded, re-dealt, if one side wins two rounds in a row then wins, if one wins and one loses, then start the third round, at this time the dealer has seven cards in his hand, one person is dealt three, two black one, the initial point of the role is reduced to five points. In this hand, the first person to lose all of his hand and hole cards, either active or passive, will receive the seventh card in the dealer's hand and lose the attack limit on the next turn, choosing to attack the enemy character or hand at will. The winner with the most points wins. Combining three small games, two wins are the final winners, each small game can be raised before the start, the double game is the winner-takes-all, the multiplayer game has additional bet calculation rules, and the double game also introduces different roles, different identities have different ways to win and attack - not mentioned here for the time being.
"So, let's get started. Richard showed his five cards in an orderly manner, "I hope you can make me feel like a failure." β
Del Cola also put five cards on the table, holding four black cards in his hand, and his smile was full of absolute confidence.
"As you wish. β
