Chapter 559: How Hard It Is to Have a Good Rest
How hard is it to rest wellZhang Baotong 2017.5.8
Whenever we get sick or injured, our friends, family, and doctors will tell us, "Get some rest." Although this sentence is simple, it is very effective in our healing and healing. When we were children, we often saw kittens and puppies when they were sick or injured, and they would quietly find a place to hide and lie there and sleep motionless for several days. A few days later, we saw it pop up and down in front of our eyes. In fact, in the long evolutionary process when human beings did not know how to use medical techniques to heal injuries and diseases, this method was almost adopted to eliminate and alleviate pain.
Illness and injury are natural and common phenomena in humans. Almost everyone has had many illnesses and injuries. Because I have good physical fitness, and I pay more attention to physical exercise and eating habits, it can be said that the probability of getting sick is low. As far as I can remember, I had three major illnesses, one for acute pleurisy, one for acute viral keratitis and one for chronic colitis. It has made a big impact on how I cope with my illness.
At the time of acute pleurisy, I was still a 17-year-old child, and I had just come to Xi'an from my hometown to work. After I got off the night shift that day, I felt a little itchy on my body, and found that I had several big rheumatic bumps on my body, and I couldn't take a bath with rheumatism, but I didn't understand, so I took a shower in the staff bath at the train station, and then went back to sleep in the dormitory at the station. Normally, I have to get up for lunch at 12 o'clock, but I feel dizzy, my chest hurts, and I can't get up at all. I didn't get up to eat, and I continued to sleep. I slept until nine o'clock in the evening, and when I got up to go to the toilet to urinate, I almost fell into the urine pool, and there was a lot of sticky sputum, with bright red blood in the sputum. Since no one cared about me, I went back to sleep. The next morning, I wanted to go to the hospital, but it was my day shift. So, I went to the station again for the day shift. It wasn't until the third day, when I was supposed to work the night shift, that I went to the railway hospital. However, the doctor only examined me and said that I might have pleurisy, but because it was during the Cultural Revolution, there was no medicine in the hospital, and even some good medicine was used to go through the back door, so the doctor only prescribed me a few licorice tablets. In the evening, a master in the same dormitory saw that I was sick, so he contacted the township party who was a doctor in the West Second Hospital, and took me to do a chest X-ray, which turned out to be acute pleurisy, and asked me to be hospitalized as soon as possible, and to take queromycin and thunder seal to reduce inflammation. However, there were no pharmacies at that time, and even pharmacies could not buy this medicine. I didn't know anything about hospitalization, and I didn't know what to do. In addition, I felt much better by this time, and I didn't see a doctor again. It can be said that my disease is cured without cure. However, in the decades that followed, every time I had a physical examination or chest X-ray, the doctor told me that I had thick lines and fibrosis in my chest or lungs, and in the first two years, the doctor even said that I had small bubbles in my chest. Also, every time I get tired from playing, I gasp for breath. I know it's all the trouble left over from that time I was sick and didn't get the treatment I deserved. However, this kind of trouble you can't get rid of even if you spend 100,000 yuan now. It can be seen that when people get sick, they really dare not be sloppy, and they should not take it lightly, because if they delay treatment, they will leave lifelong regrets.
The second time I got sick was in middle age, and I was constantly writing news for my unit, writing documents, and writing essays for newspapers and magazines. Write in the unit during the day and at home at night and on weekends. And there is no place for lunch break in the unit, and I always play chess and poker with others at noon. Maybe it's because I'm tired from working like this all day, and I feel very uncomfortable in my eyes. At this point, I should have stopped and had a good check-up in the hospital and had a good rest. However, I didn't take it seriously and continued to work and write as usual. It wasn't until my eyes suddenly became uncomfortable, I couldn't open them a little, and I felt a pinprick sting at the sight of the light, that I realized the seriousness of the problem. In order to get better as soon as possible, I went to several of the most famous hospitals in the city's ophthalmology, but instead of taking care of my eyes, my eye disease became more and more serious. Later, I could barely open my eyes, and I only squinted at things, and my eyes were red as if they were bloodshot. The visual acuity of the eye decreased rapidly from 1.5 in the right eye and 1.2 in the left eye to 0.5 and 0.7. I felt like my eyes were going blind, I was extremely pessimistic, and it was pitch black in front of me and in my heart. Later, I heard that the ophthalmology department of the West First Hospital was better, so I went to the West First Hospital, and a female doctor surnamed Zhao saw me. At that time, I asked her if my eyes were not cured. She said no, disapprovingly. This made me feel that my eyes suddenly brightened, and I had confidence in the future. After injecting prednisolone CC and interferon into the corneas of both eyes, and recuperating at home for two weeks, my eye disease was finally cured. But vision can no longer be restored to the original level.
This illness has left me feeling deeply, and it can be said to be the most painful illness of my life. Not only did it leave me with the root of the disease, but it also caused my vision to deteriorate, and my cornea was congested and red for many years. I regret very much why I didn't get a good rest when my eyes first started to feel uncomfortable, if I did, my eyes wouldn't have been so bad. However, I also knew that if my eyes were not seriously ill, I would not really rest. In the next two or three years, my eye disease recurred three or four times, so now that my eyes feel a little uncomfortable, I have to hurry up and find a way to get some eye drops, and I dare not turn on the computer and watch TV again.
One of the reasons I got viral keratitis was because I had poor immunity, and the reason for this was because I had chronic colitis for a long time and had diarrhea for more than 10 years. This disease gives me the impression that it is not good, no matter how much money you spend or how good the medicine you take, it will not help. I don't know when I got this disease, but by the time I found out, it was already moderately inflamed and became chronic. I have seen this disease several times in Chinese medicine and Western medicine, and I also did a colonoscopy, which is to put an instrument deep into the colon area for examination, I have seen from the video that my colon surface is somewhat congested, and I also know that the drug is very effective from oral administration to the colon site, so the colon inflammation will be so stubborn. Inflammation of the colon not only makes it easy to have diarrhea, but it also often hurts the abdomen. Makes you listless all day long, half-dead, and in a very bad mood. Because my wife is colitis, I have seen it for many years, I have visited all the big hospitals in the city, visited all the famous medical experts in the city, and taken all the Chinese and Western medicines. Therefore, I didn't care about my illness, because I knew that no matter how I looked at it, it was a blind man who lit a lamp in vain. Whenever I feel a little uncomfortable in my abdomen while writing, I immediately stop and rest. Of course, this kind of rest is not to lie in bed and sleep for a long time, but to go out and walk in the wilderness of the suburbs. When I came back, the discomfort was gone. Later, because of the job transfer, I went to the school to become a secretary, and the working environment changed, and there were many trivial and complicated affairs, so I no longer had the mood to write. And I got to know a group of friends who love to play table tennis, so I spent all my time writing in the past playing. The phenomenon of stomach pain and diarrhea is gradually reduced, occasionally sometimes eat unclean food or get a little cold, a bad stomach, eat a few grains of huangliandin, and then buy half a catty of sunflower seeds to eat, it will be fine. My colitis was caused by sitting and writing all day, but then I stopped writing and switched to playing ball, and the colitis slowly disappeared. I summarize this treatment as a lifestyle change, which means that the environment that causes the colon to become inflamed has changed, and there is no room for colitis to survive. The chronic colitis has healed, my resistance has increased, and my eye disease has not been repeated.
After a few serious illnesses, I have a deeper understanding of healing. Seeking medical treatment and rest is an organic combination of treatment, and if you only pay attention to seeing a doctor and not paying attention to rest, some diseases may be delayed. For example, when I have eye discomfort, I can't help but stay up late to watch a good foreign movie at night. Then there are a few of my golfers who play ball, they are all addicted to table tennis, and they have injured their arms, knees, ankles, and arms while playing, but they can't follow the doctor's advice to lie at home and rest and recuperate. They had to recuperate for at least 100 days, but they couldn't bear it after they stayed at home for a few days. A golfer injured his arm, and he has been seeing a doctor for two or three years, and he has spent 10,000 or 20,000 yuan, but it has not been well until now. The doctor told him not to move again for half a year, but he only stayed at home for less than 20 days before he ran out to play. Another golfer injured his knee and walked in pain, and the doctor told him to rest for at least three months, but within three days, as soon as someone called him, he immediately came out with a bag. If this continues, I am afraid that their illness will never be good.
Rest is often understood by us as sleeping, resting, relaxing, and recreation. Scientific research has proved that sleep can secrete a large amount of auxin that promotes the growth and development of the human body, which can reduce the temperature of the brain, relieve fatigue, restore mental and physical strength, repair damaged cells and improve memory. These are all important for our body's recovery. In particular, in the case of diseases such as broken muscles and bones, it is more necessary to recuperate in order to prevent the damaged bones from moving. Rest can be a very good way for us humans to relieve pain and heal injuries.
Although rest can have a recovery function for the injured body, it does not mean that we can lie there and sleep for a few days like a kitten or a puppy. After all, this is not the era when people have become dependent on medicine. Moreover, medicine also plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases and human health. When I was four years old, one of my younger sisters died by the river when my mother took me and her to Xi'an to mourn my father. In some underdeveloped countries in Africa, the mortality rate of infants and people is high due to medical inconvenience. Furthermore, if I had acute pleurisy, the medical treatment would have been the same as it is today, and I would not have had such sequelae.
However, seeing a doctor requires a trip to the hospital, and rest is something we can control. Presumably, everyone also deeply agrees, it is very troublesome to see a doctor, the hospital is crowded, and there are many procedures, so we don't get tired of it. If we can take a good rest, then we can get sick less and have a lot less trouble. Our work and life pay attention to the combination of work and rest, work is work and busy, and leisure is entertainment and rest. Entertainment is rest, but overentertainment can also be tiring. We all know how to take a break from the busyness and fatigue of work, but it is difficult to take a break from excessive entertainment. Therefore, many of our illnesses are caused by excessive entertainment, such as playing mahjong day and night, drinking and drinking for a long time and not waking up, playing games and getting dizzy, and playing with mobile phones to forget to sleep and eat. If you combine work with such entertainment, how much time does a person have to really rest in a day? I am afraid that sometimes there is not enough time to sleep. And the energy and energy in a person's body is limited, if you save less and pay more, then, your physical strength will be overdrawn. With the overdraft of physical strength, the resistance is bound to weaken, and illness is close at hand.
It's easy to get carried away by habits, just like the clock every day, and when we get sick or injured, our daily routines and routines can be disrupted. And we are not used to living a life that makes us feel uncomfortable, like a person who loves to play ball has to stay in bed all day due to an injury of etiology, like a person who loves to play mahjong is suddenly locked outside a mahjong parlor. Every cell in our body has a memory, and it is painful for us to not be able to play when it is time to play, and not to be able to play mahjong when it is time to play mahjong. However, our cells also have memories of injuries and illnesses in our bodies. If you're injured while you're playing, if you're suffering from colitis from writing, then when you play, the injured area hurts, and when you write, the colon feels uncomfortable. So, whether you're driven by hobbies or you're responsible for your injuries, you have to give up the light and choose the heavy, you have to give up the present and take a long-term view.
There are always many objective reasons, but our intellect should make the right choice. The right choice is to make us less sick or not sick, less injured or not injured, we should choose a good lifestyle from all aspects, and truly achieve a combination of work and rest; if we are aware of some slight discomfort in some aspects, we should be alert and adjust our diet and rest; if this discomfort is very obvious and makes us feel bad, then we must go to the hospital immediately. But the best way to treat the disease is to put prevention first, and prevent it before it happens. To prevent injuries and illnesses, you should focus on daily rest.
