Chapter 61: The Academy Cup

Jon may never remember how he spent the days after his first-year final exams.

The whole person has been crying and mourning, and he is in a mood of being loveless at any time.

There are only a few strange thoughts in my head:

"Why is this happening?"

"Whether it's a basilisk, a Horcrux, or a brain occlusion, it's obvious that I prepared it first!"

"Why is there such a terrible creature as Boggart......"

So much so that Astoria thought Jon was sick for a while, and dragged him to the school hospital.

"Mr. Hart is just a little frightened!" said Madam Pomfrey, after examining it carefully, "just like you, Miss Greengrass...... Fortunately, the potion I prepared last time has not been used up yet......"

After drinking half a bottle of the strange-tasting, pale cyan potion, Madam Pomfrey forced him to stay in the hospital for another night before letting him go.

Back in the Hufflepuff common room, Jon learned the news that Gryffindor had narrowly defeated Ravenclaw in the first of the final round of Quidditch.

Of the four teams, only Gryffindor and Hufflepuff won two games, and Hufflepuff had a goal difference more than 900 points higher than Gryffindor.

This means that as long as Hufflepuff does not lose 900 points to a desireless Slytherin in the final round, it can win the Quidditch Cup.

Sure enough, in the Hufflepuff match against Slytherin, the seven Hufflepuff players sat back and watched Slytherin throw 16 Quaffles in a row...... Then Cedric Diggory was under Draco Malfoy's ass and took the Golden Snitch.

In the end, Hufflepuff lost 150:160 to Slytherin.

This allowed Slytherin to avoid the embarrassing record of losing all three games, and allowed Hufflepuff to regain the Quidditch Cup after thirteen years.

......

Three days after the final exam, Jon followed a group of Hufflepuff students to the Great Hall for the end-of-year banquet.

The auditorium had been decorated in green and silver to celebrate their seventh House Cup win in eight years, and on the wall behind the podium hung a huge banner with Slytherin snakes painted on it.

The students and teachers arrived one after another, and the entire auditorium was packed.

After seeing that the people were basically due, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore stood up, raised his hands, and motioned for everyone to be quiet.

The auditorium quickly fell silent.

"Before I can indulge in these delicacies, I must trouble you to listen to an old man's cliché. Professor Dumbledore said gently, "What a wonderful year it has been! Your little brains must be richer than in the past, and there is a whole summer vacation waiting for you ahead, so that you can digest those things before the start of the next semester, so that your brains can be free......"

"Now, as far as I know, we have to start with the House Cup ceremony, and the specific scores for each house are as follows: fourth, Gryffindor, 412 points, 3rd place, Hufflepuff, 423 points, Ravenclaw 432 points, Slytherin 539 points. ”

The Slytherin table erupted in thunderous cheers and stomping.

Jon sees Astoria hugging her sister in celebration.

"Slytherin again......" Jon heard Gabriel Truman, the prefect next to him, muttering under his breath, "Ever since Snape became the head of Slytherin, Slytherin's scores have been either first or second every year......"

Gabriel's complaint is well founded.

Snape was constantly giving points to students from other houses in Potions class (although Jon himself wasn't deducted by him), while Slytherin students weren't particularly bad and would get his extra points on a daily basis...... With the other three deans generally fair, the tide rises, and Slytherin's score has easily outperformed the other houses in recent years.

Hufflepuff is the biggest victim of this, as Hufflepuff has the largest number of students and the most points deducted each year. So even though they won the Quidditch Cup this term, they finished third in the House Cup.

"Don't worry!" Cedric Diggory reassured, "Professor Dumbledore may have something else to say as he did last year. ”

Cedric's estimate was correct.

"yes, good job!" Dumbledore was heard adding, "However, several recent events must also be taken into account." ”

He cleared his throat and said, "There are still some points to be assigned, let me see...... That's right the first item - Miss Ginny Weasley!"

Ginny, who sat at the back of the Gryffindor table, stood up with a red face, and quickly sat down when she sensed that something was wrong.

In the face of the most terrifying and dark existence, she was still able to maintain the remnants of her sanity, and bravely said everything...... I'm rewarding Gryffindor House with forty points for that!"

The cheers of the little lions nearly knocked the enchanted ceiling over.

Percy Weasley can be heard shouting from the prefect's seat, "It's my sister, you know, my only sister......"

"The second – Miss Hermione Granger......" Dumbledore continued, "she's probably the youngest student in Hogwarts history to make advanced potions...... I'm going to reward Gryffindor with forty points!"

The Gryffindor students were ecstatic again, jumping up and down at the table!

Jon furrowed his brows slightly, a little shocked: is he so awesome!

"The third item - Mr. Harry Potter!" Dumbledore began, and the Great Hall suddenly became extremely silent, "In the face of the Slytherin monsters, he risked his life and showed unprecedented courage, and even won Godric Gryffindor's approval...... For that, I'm going to reward Gryffindor House with fifty points!"

The noise was simply deafening.

All Gryffindor students are in an endless...... Gryffindor now has a score of five hundred and forty-two, while Slytherin only has five hundred and thirty-nine!

They overtook Slytherin on the final day of term in the House Cup for the second year in a row...... On the podium, Snape shook hands with Professor McGonagall, an embarrassed smile on his face.

Dumbledore had to shout, "So, we need to make some small changes to the décor here!"

With a wave of his finger, the green ribbons turned bright red, the silver banners turned gold, and the great Slytherin snake disappeared in its place, replaced by a majestic Gryffindor lion.

"Familiar plot!" Jon muttered to himself, then picked up a glass of pumpkin juice on the table and drank it early.

Dumbledore suddenly raised another hand.

The Gryffindor students, who were in celebration, fell silent.

"And the fourth, of course—Mr. Jon Hart!" Dumbledore said calmly.

"Poof!" the pumpkin juice from Jon's mouth squirted out at once, almost squirting Hannah-Abbott beside him.

Hannah, and the other Hufflepuff students didn't seem to notice, however, and their eyes were all focused on Professor Dumbledore.

"I, Dumbledore is this going to give me extra points?" Jon quickly calculated in his heart, Dumbledore had to add one hundred and twenty points to Hufflepuff before they could surpass Gryffindor.

Could it be that there is such a high reward for turning Boggart into the principal?

"I've been teaching at Hogwarts for over 90 years, and it's the first time I've seen a student conjure up a Bogart so interesting...... For that, I'm going to give Hufflepuff ten points!" Dumbledore said with a smile.

It's only ten...... Jon couldn't help but breathe, this Dumbledore was too picky.

However, the Hufflepuff badgers around him are far less peaceful than themselves.

After Dumbledore added ten points, Hufflepuff's score was 433, surpassing Ravenclaw's 432.

They are no longer bottom of the House Cup, but third.

Cedric Diggory clenched his fists in excitement, Gabriel Truman almost burst into tears, and Hannah Abbott hugged him from behind......

"It's finally not the bottom......"

"Hufflepuff has been at the bottom for seven years in a row......"

"Well done, Jon, you're a Hufflepuff hero!"

Even Professor Sprout stood up from his seat with a smile on his face and nodded to Jon.

Inexplicably becoming a hero, Jon is soon swept into a sea of Hufflepuff celebrations.

Moreover, he suddenly realized one thing: "Hannah, don't rub pumpkin juice on me......"

......

In stark contrast to Hufflepuff, there was silence at the Ravenclaw table.

Even Professor Flitwick on the rostrum bowed his head in shame...... Now under the rostrum, everyone can't see him at all.

Penelo Crivat, who was in the prefect's seat, wiped her tears and cried with water...... She wasn't the only one, most of the Ravenclaw girls were already crying, except for Luna Lovegood, who was still smiling at her.

"What's going on?" Jon asked Cedric cautiously.

For he sensed that many of the Ravenclaw boys were looking at him with very hostile eyes.

"This is the first time this century that Ravenclaw have finished bottom of the House Cup!" Cedric explained, "Ravenclaw are the house that has won the most House Cups this century, and they haven't won the last House Cup in over 90 years......

"Well done, Jon!" Gabriel patted him on the shoulder, "We can't win the last place in this House Cup every time, they Ravenclaw should also taste what it's like!"

Jon smiled wryly and nodded, then glanced at Dumbledore on the podium.

Dumbledore winked at him, then looked away......

"Now, then, let's start the feast and celebration together!"

Countless kinds of food began to appear on the table out of nowhere......
