Chapter 12: The Sorting Ceremony

"Welcome to Hogwarts!" Unlike Hagrid, Professor Minerva-McGonagall said this with an extremely serious expression on her face without any smile.

The young wizards in the first year could obviously feel that the old professor was not easy to deal with, and they all quieted down, not daring to talk to each other.

"The opening party is about to begin, but before you get to the dining hall and take your seats, first of all, you should first determine which house you are into......" Professor McGonagall gave a brief introduction to the sorting ceremony and the House Cup!

"I'll come back to pick you up when I'm ready!" Professor McGonagall asked casually as she prepared to leave, "Please be quiet while you wait...... Any questions?"

Jon raised his hand in the air.

"What's the matter, Mr. Hart?" Apparently Professor McGonagall still had some impression of the little wizard who had kicked her.

"Uh, Professor!" Jon chuckled, he was sure that with Professor McGonagall's justice, he wouldn't be angry with him for an inadvertent mistake he had made a month earlier.

"It was when I was on the train that I met a second-year Hogwarts student who called me 'Mudblood'...... To be honest, I don't quite understand what that word means, but judging by the look on her face at the time, it doesn't seem like a friendly word!"

Jon had a calm expression on his face, as if he really didn't know what "mudblood" meant.

"Who is it, she dares to ......" Professor McGonagall's face changed suddenly: "How dare you say such an insulting word at Hogwarts, for the past thousand years, Hogwarts has been committed to eradicating the prejudice between pure-blood wizards and Muggle-born wizards......"

"She seems to have said her name...... It seems to be ...... Greengrass!"

"Greengrass?" Professor McGonagall's face regained its composure, "Mr. Hart, that's a vicious curse, a slanderous name, forget her words, no one dares to call you that at Hogwarts......"

As she spoke, she glanced at the crowd with sharp eyes.

Then, she left the room.

Jon faintly heard Professor McGonagall's roar coming from the hall:

"Daphne Greengrass, you go to my office now...... Wait for me in the room outside the foyer, on the marble staircase, next to the hallway!"

"Philius, could you please help me get Severus over?"

......

Jon didn't draw too much attention from the first-year students, though.

Because their attention is mainly focused on the upcoming "Sorting Ceremony".

After all, Hogwarts' "sorting intimidation" of first-year students is a fine tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation.

Originally, Astoria was supposed to join this group of first-year wizards to eagerly discuss whether the "sorting ceremony" should overthrow a troll or cast ten spells...... But now, she was standing there in a trance.

"Why are you doing this, sister...... Daphne...... She's going to be expelled......"

"She brought it on herself. Jon said calmly, "And I don't think Hogwarts would expel a student for a curse." ”

"She really doesn't have any malicious ......"

"I think it's better for you to explain it to Professor McGonagall like this. ”

"You ......"

Astoria decided to turn around and decided not to pay attention to him.

Jon didn't have the idea of licking it, and he saw a wall in front of him suddenly pop up about twenty ghosts. These pearly white, translucent ghosts glide across the room, turning heads to ear.

"Ah......h

"It's a first-year student again!" A chubby monk ghost smiled at them and said, "I suppose you're probably going to be tested?"

They haven't been able to answer yet......

"Now move forward. A shrill voice came from the surrounding walls: "The Sorting Ceremony is about to begin. ”

"Line up!" Professor McGonagall said, returning.

There was a slight commotion in the crowd, and under Professor McGonagall's guidance, they eventually formed a line.

In front of Jon was Astoria...... But Astoria made up her mind not to turn back, and they kept a distance of two or three yards.

One by one, the young wizards walked out of the room, through a narrow hallway, to the halls of Hogwarts.

In such a magnificent hall, there is a long table on the rostrum, on which all kinds of teachers are sitting......

They were at the long table on the podium, with their backs to the teachers, as Professor McGonagall had instructed.

In front of them were four long tables laid out horizontally, and hundreds of Hogwarts students were applauding enthusiastically.

The "ceiling" overhead, starlit and extremely realistic...... Even with a certain amount of mental preparation, Jon had to sigh in his heart.

Professor McGonagall placed a four-legged stool in front of them...... Then he placed a top wizard's hat on the stool.

This should be the Godric Gryffindor hat of yesteryear, and the Sorting Hat now!

The Sorting Hat spoke, and in its hoarse voice, began to sing its own song.

That soul singer-like singing voice really makes people want to cover their ears.

After a few minutes of torment, the Sorting Hat was finally done......

Professor McGonagall took a few steps forward, a roll of parchment in her hand.

"Whoever I call by name will put on his hat and sit on a stool and wait for the Sorting House. She said, "Sean Avery!"

A tall boy with a freckled face stumbled out of the crowd and put on his hat.

"Slytherin!"

The table on the far right burst into loud cheers, while the table on the far left was greeted with faint boos.

The tall boy was relieved and hurriedly trotted over.

The name Avery seems somewhat familiar...... It seems to be the name of a Death Eater, and it looks like another dead second generation?

"Theresa Baker!"

"Ravenclaw!"

This time, the second table on the left clapped hands, and several Ravenclaw students were shaking Teresa's hand.

Colin Creevey was the first of Gryffindor's freshmen, and the farthest table to the left erupted in cheers, and Jon saw the Weasley brothers celebrating.

......

"Astoria Greengrass!"

Astoria walked over and put the hat on his head.

"Slytherin!" shouted the hat almost as it barely touched her hair.

Maybe it's because of her sister, judging by her expression, she doesn't seem to be very happy.

Jon couldn't help but let out a cold snort when he saw Draco Malfoy giving up his seat to Astoria.

"Jon Hart!" the Sorting Hat then called out his name.

Jon stood up, feeling as if the eyes of the entire hall were focused on him.

Lowering his head slightly, he walked over and put on the Sorting Hat.
