The reason why Volkswagen wants to study DCT to replace AT and CVT is that it does not want to be choked in terms of core technology. Both AT and CVT have Japanese capital backgrounds behind them, and once Volkswagen competes directly with Japanese manufacturers, it is easy to be fussed about automatic transmissions. ”
There are ready-made examples of AT and CVT transmissions that can be disassembled and studied, but there is no finished product outflow of DCT, and it is still a question whether it can be commercialized in the future.
