Chapter 386: It's done
Chapter 386
Director Zhang was thinking.
After pondering for a few seconds, Director Zhang quickly made a decision, "Gu Lu, then please give it a try." β
Just a try, anyway.
Failure is failure, and nothing is to lose.
But if it succeeds......
It was a bonus!
Director Zhang's gaze fell on Professor Fang on the side.
Professor Fang immediately understood.
"Professor Gu, come with me here. β
Professor Fang leads the way.
Gu Lu nodded, and followed Professor Fang into a small cubicle in the laboratory.
In the cubicle, in addition to Professor Fang himself, there were four or five other people who were busy.
One of them, Professor Song from the School of Physics, was temporarily called over by Professor Fang to help.
Professor Song is a full professor at Yan University.
He is even a few years older than Professor Song.
But now, Professor Song is the same as Director Zhang just now, with a sad face.
"Director Zhang, Lao Fang, who is this?"
"Oh, this is Professor Gu, who came here to help. β
Professor Fang didn't have much thought, so he just briefly introduced the two of them.
"Professor Gu, these are all the equipment we have here, is it okay?" Professor Fang turned his head and asked Gu Lu.
Gu Lu glanced at several devices in the cubicle.
Infrared spectral imager, near-infrared excitation Fourier transform Raman spectrometer.
He had both of those devices he needed.
Gu Lu nodded, "That's enough." β
Professor Fang stretched out his hand and gestured to Gu Lu.
Gu Lu pulled out a chair and sat down in front of the infrared spectral imager.
"Gloves. Gu Lu's tone was light.
Professor Fang's eyes signaled, and the researcher assistant next to him quickly took a pair of gloves and handed them to Gu Lu.
Put on gloves and move your fingers.
Gu Lu's eyes gradually became sharper.
He carefully picked up a GaN wide bandgap semiconductor crystal with tweezers and placed it in front of an infrared spectroscopic imager for observation.
Based on the imaging results of the infrared spectrum, a simple infrared spectrum map is printed.
This is just the first step.
Again, it's the easiest step.
Because from that infrared spectrum, you can clearly see that there are many parts of the wave with twists and turns.
This is due to the presence of strong residual band-related reflection zones in GaN.
This makes the measurement results imprecise.
There is no way to draw conclusions from infrared spectroscopic imaging alone.
At this time, another instrument is needed, and that is the Raman spectrometer.
Raman spectrometers are available in a variety of models.
There are confocal Raman microscopes, solid-state photoacoustic Raman spectrometers, and the near-infrared excitation Fourier transform Raman spectrometer in front of Gu Lu.
Coincidentally, what Gu Lu needed was this type of Raman spectrometer, which saved a lot of trouble.
This model of Raman spectrometer uses Fourier transform technology to collect the signal, accumulate it multiple times to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, and irradiate the sample with a 1064mm near-infrared laser to greatly reduce the fluorescence background.
Gu Lu took the printed infrared spectrogram to the Raman spectrometer, and then changed the value of the polarization by inputting parameters to present different Raman spectrograms.
What Gu Lu needs to do is to find one or more local vibration modes in many Raman spectra by combining the infrared spectra just now.
It's quite a tedious job.
This is because the unit of the length of the local vibrating die is millimeters.
In Raman spectroscopic imaging, the length of the modulus is generally measured in decimeters.
On a decimeter Raman spectrum, a few millimeters of local mutations would be inconspicuous.
It is almost imperceptible to the naked eye.
You can only zoom in and see it partially.
Time-consuming and eye-consuming.
Gu Lu's face was almost attached to the computer monitor used for the image.
Behind Gu Lu were confused researchers.
Professor Song turned his head to look at Professor Fang, "What is this Professor Gu you found doing?"
Professor Fang smiled wryly, "You ask me, how do I know." β
"Didn't you find the person? It looks quite young, did you find it from, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, or abroad?" Professor Song asked, holding his arms and paying attention to Gu Lu's movements.
Professor Fang said helplessly, "I didn't take the initiative to find the person, to be precise, he took the initiative to come over to help." Also, this Professor Gu is not something I found from outside, or someone from our Yan University!"
"Yan Da people?" Professor Song was stunned for a moment, "I remember, we don't have a professor surnamed Gu in our Academy." β
"This Professor Gu is not from our college, but from the mathematics college next door. β
"Math Academy?!"
"Well, it's the School of Mathematics. β
Professor Song's eyes widened, and he spoke a little incoherently, "That'...... He...... I...... , and we're going to let him come as he pleases?"
Professor Fang spread his hands and said in a low voice, "Director Zhang has nodded, let's just do it." β
"Failed, we just wasted some time, there was nothing else to lose. β
"If it really succeeds, it will be really blood-earned!"
Professor Song shook his head and pursed his lips, "Success, how can it be so easy to succeed." β
"If this problem could be solved so easily, you would call me for help. β
Professor Song patted Professor Fang on the shoulder, "I've been sitting in the experiment all day, and it's just time to take advantage of this to go out for a ride." Lao Fang, when this Professor Gu has had fun, call me back, and we will continue to study. β
With that, Professor Song took out a cigarette from his pocket and walked out of the laboratory.
Professor Fang looked at Professor Song's distant back and shook his head helplessly.
β¦β¦β¦β¦
Five minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes......
Half an hour passed, and only Professor Fang and one of his research assistants were left in the cubicle.
As for Gu Lu, he still kept his face on the computer screen and observed meticulously.
"Waitβ"
Gu Lu keenly caught something, and manipulated the mouse to lock that area.
Gu Lu then magnified the Raman spectral imaging of the locked region by a factor of 100.
The image in decimeter units is enlarged in millimeter units.
From the Raman spectral imaging presented on the screen, it is obvious that there are two bumps in the otherwise smooth polyline.
The positions are around 765 mm and 775 mm, respectively.
This is the local vibration model that Gu Lu is looking for.
Syllable!
Gu Lu snapped his fingers, and a smile rose at the corner of his mouth.
Professor Fang, who was sitting on the side and waiting for sleep, was awakened by Gu Lu's snapping of his fingers.
"Professor Gu, what's wrong?" Professor Fang looked at Gu Lu with a smile on his face and asked suspiciously.
Gu Lu beckoned Professor Fang over.
"Professor Fang, the technical problem you are talking about has been solved by me!"
