Chapter 21: Gilderoy Lockhart
The first week of life at Hogwarts went on like this.
Strictly speaking, Hogwarts is indeed a very good school of witchcraft and wizardry. Several important courses are taught by skilled and powerful adult wizards (with the exception of Defense Against the Dark Arts), the students are well fed and comfortable, and the Hogwarts library is one of the largest in Europe, with nearly 10,000 books of all kinds......
It's probably just a complicated and troublesome staircase, which makes people feel a little dissatisfied.
There are a total of one hundred and forty-two staircases at Hogwarts. Some of them are wide and large, some are narrow and small, and they are wobbly, some go to different places every Friday, and some of them are halfway up and a staircase suddenly disappears, and you have to remember where to jump over......
But these stairs are understandable......
After all, Hogwarts was not only a school, but also a fortress.
Before the 10th century AD, Muggles (ordinary people) were afraid of magic and persecuted wizards (witch hunts...... Young wizards who have not yet received a systematic education do not have the strength to fight Muggles, let alone the magical races of elves, giants, and werewolves, who are also eyeing wizards and waiting for an opportunity to launch attacks.
So Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin built the castle as a school to teach young wizards and a fortress to protect them from persecution.
Numerous secret passages and intricate staircases are designed to prevent Hogwarts from being invaded one day, protecting young wizards and enemies.
Unfortunately, there is no living map in hand (already in the hands of the Weasley brothers), and the basilisk will soon be on a night walk at Hogwarts...... Otherwise, Jon would have wanted to explore the school's secrets.
Exploring Hogwarts is no easy task, and Administrator Argus Filch is a Squib, but he knows more about Hogwarts Secrets than most students, not to mention that he has an extremely intelligent cat, Lady Loris...... It's dangerous to break the school rules in front of them.
......
In addition to the four main classes (three lessons per week) of Transfiguration, Charms, Herbs, and Potions, every Wednesday night, Jon and his wife follow Professor Aurora Sinista to observe the sky with a telescope, learning the names of different stars and the trajectories of the planets.
......
History of Magic takes place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and the class is taught by a ghost: Professor Binns. His voice in class sounded monotonous and boring, making people drowsy......
Professor Binns' knowledge of the history of magic was almost astonishing, though, and Jon once asked him a few questions about the International Law of Secrecy (1689) in class, which he answered almost without thinking......
Judging by his classical attire, Jon even suspected that he might have lived in the same era as the four founders.
......
Thursday morning's flying lesson was the last thing Jon wanted to take, as it was taught by Hufflepuff and Slytherin together.
After his first flying lesson, Jon realized that his talent for Quidditch was almost nil.
In his first flying lesson, it took him about ten minutes to get the broomstick into his hands...... And during the flight, if it weren't for Lady Hodge's quick eyesight, he would almost have had a close encounter with Hogwarts Castle.
Zachary Smith was the best performer in flying lessons, and starting Thursday at noon, he spent half an hour in the cafeteria every time bragging about how wonderful it was to fly, and how sure he would replace Cedric Diggory as a Hufflepuff Seeker in his sophomore year.
Jon's flying class was almost at the bottom of his class, probably the worst of all his classes.
The only consolation is probably that Astoria performed like him in flying lessons, and was also a "chocobo" after riding a broomstick.
Chocobos belong to chocobos, but that doesn't stop Jon from complaining about the rules of Quidditch.
The other players are tired and tired, scoring 10 points at a time, and the Seeker grabs a snitch and gets 150 points directly, and the game is over by the way...... The other players fought hard for a long time, and the opposite Seeker started to hang up and the game ended and turned over; although it is normal for the players in various positions on the court to be unequal, the gap is so big that it is too miserable.
What's more, 10 points and 150 points are not all multiples of 10, and Quidditch will not have a single-digit score in 100 years, right?
But it's quite normal, the position of the Seeker is tailor-made for the savior:
You don't need to fight with other players in close quarters and close quarters, so you don't need a strong body, you can also be thin and weak; a person is the soul of a team, the father of a team, the whole team has to revolve around you, you have a problem with a broom or a Bludger, and the two batsmen directly ignore others to be your bodyguards; by the way, personal heroism is off the charts, and it is easy for one god to lead six pits, even if his teammates are all orphans, he can easily help the team win......
......
As for the funniest lesson at Hogwarts, it is undoubtedly Professor Gilderoy Lockhart's Defence Against the Dark Arts class.
Strictly speaking, Defence Against the Dark Arts class is the main class that needs to be taken three times a week...... But Professor Lockhart completely made these three lessons a joke.
Presumably during his first lesson to the second-graders, Lockhart suffered a loss from a Cornish elf...... By the time the first-year students had their first class, Defense Against the Dark Arts on Wednesday morning, there was no more practice.
Lockhart just took out a stack of test papers in the stunned gaze of the first-year freshmen:
1. What is Gilderoy Lockhart's favourite colour?
2. What is Gilderoy Lockhart's secret ambition?
3. What do you think is Gilderoy Lockhart's greatest achievement to date?
4. What type of woman does Gilderoy Lockhart like the most?
And so on and so forth, on three sides of paper......
The final question is:
54. What is Gilderoy Lockhart's birthday?
While writing the papers, Jon expressed deep sympathy for the senior students at Hogwarts who had to take the OWLs and NEWT exams, presumably their Defense Against the Dark Arts grades, and the frightening failure rate.
Half an hour later, Lockhart put all the test papers away and began to read them one by one in front of everyone.
"Beautifully written, Mr. Hart! You remember that my favorite color is lilac. Lockhart said with some excitement: "This paper can get 100 points...... Hufflepuff plus five points!"
"Is that okay?" Zacharis, who was beside Jon, gave him a skeptical look.
"Are you also a big fan of Professor Lockhart?" asked a Hufflepuff girl whose Jon couldn't even name him, with a nymphomaniac look on her face.
"Uh...... Sort of......" Jon shrugged.
Skip reading Lockhart's "writings" and remember the narcissistic personal information he expressed in them...... Actually, it doesn't take much time.
Moreover, Lockhart is not useless, Jon already has a plan in his heart.
As he pondered, Jon tried to be more intellectually curious, listening to Lockhart's boring boasting.
