Chapter 20: The Potions Teacher (Part II)

Like Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape was able to bring order to order in the classroom without much effort.

He spent half a class instructing two classes of students to work in pairs to learn how to prepare the simplest magic potion to cure scabies.

It is said to be the simplest magic potion, but both the ingredients and the steps seem quite cumbersome.

Jon Hart and Astoria Greengrass are a group.

On Snape's orders, Jon retrieved dried nettles, the fangs of the belly snake, and porcupine spines from the Potions cabinet, while Astoria lit the fire and placed her cauldron on it.

As they were configuring, Snape dragged a long black cloak around the classroom like a large bat, observing their setup steps...... Most of the Hufflepuff students were severely criticized by him, and even many Slytherin students were not immune to it.

After returning to his seat, Jon's movements were very nimble, in fact, the simple actions of grinding, dissolving, and boiling were already familiar to him with the experience of his previous life.

"Why are you grinding porcupine thorns?" Astoria asked, puzzled, "The book says to chop up the porcupine thorns and add them along with the snake's fangs!"

"Fools should know that grinding into powder will dissolve more easily than crumbling pieces!" Jon shrugged and continued grinding.

Astoria frowned and continued to smash the small piece of snake fangs with her hammer.

"Help me put the nettles in the pot and bake them for a while so that the water can dry...... Thank you!" Jon commanded, carefully mixing porcupine thorn powder with shattered snake fangs.

Astoria opened her mouth, but didn't say anything, and did as Jon told her.

Snape passed by their location several times, paused to observe their movements for several minutes, and even saw the small dish of porcupine spines crushed into powder...... He didn't interfere in the slightest, though, just squinting a few times at Jon.

When nettles, porcupine spine and snake fangs are added to the pot.

"It needs to be boiled all the way for five minutes. Astoria glanced at the Magic Potions and Potions in her hand and reminded.

Jon looked at his watch, increasing the flames a little.

Once the mixed liquid began to turn yellow, he quickly turned down the flame to keep it from boiling too much.

"I hope you don't mess up......" Astoria said nervously on the other side.

Jon didn't have anything to worry about...... The Potions textbooks at Hogwarts are not authoritative or correct, and even simple things like squeezing beans and cutting are easy to juice out.

But it's also normal, after all, the wizarding world in Britain combined is less than 10,000 wizards, which is equivalent to a small town where teachers write a set of textbooks by themselves, and it is quite normal for there to be a lot of loopholes on it.

In this way, instead of sticking to the rules, it is better to make a small correction to the steps based on the experience of biochemical experiments in previous lives.

After all, even if it's a magical world, you have to talk about the basic law, right?

Half an hour later, Snape walked slowly between the tables, taking turns checking each cauldron and their work.

He smiled sarcastically when he saw the ugly blue mixture that Zacharis-Smith and Eloise Meadgan had configured, "Do you think you can drink this potion, Mr. Smith and Miss Meadgan?"

"As for this pot, instead of curing hemorrhoids, it will make them worse!" he said of Selwin and Yaxley's work.

Snape picked fault with almost every student's work and sneered at it until he made it to the first row:

Snape frowned at the pot of clear, yellowish liquid in front of Jon and Astoria.

The expression on his face was strange, as if he wanted to find fault but couldn't.

"Well done...... "Miss Greengrass...... Add five points to Slytherin!"

......

"That's too much!" Snape had just left the Potions classroom on his front foot, and Zacharith rushed over angrily, "I've heard that Snape is biased towards Slytherin...... But that's too much, isn't it? Why only give Greengrass extra points, not Jon and you!"

As he spoke, he glared at Astoria fiercely, thinking it was her fault.

As if she hadn't seen it, Astoria silently arranged the cauldron and poured the potion she had just made with Jon into the crystal bottle.

Zacharith scolded Snape for about five minutes before leaving the Potions classroom in high spirits, and the other Hufflepuff and Slytherin students had already left...... Only Jon and Astoria were left.

Astoria finally packed up her things.

"I'll go talk to Professor Snape!" she whispered, "Tell him that you made the potion for today...... It has nothing to do with me...... Let him give the score back to Hufflepuff. ”

"There's no need for that!" Jon smiled, he didn't think Snape's character would deduct points for Slytherin and add points to the other houses.

"It's not just me, today's potion is the result of our joint efforts, and I think Professor Snape will give Hufflepuff extra points next time!" Jon said, not believing it.

Astoria seemed to believe something, and saw that she nodded very seriously.

The two packed up their things and walked out of the Potions classroom.

Whether it's a Hufflepuff lounge or a Slytherin lounge, it's not far from here.

Astoria stopped, seeming a little hesitant.

"What's wrong?" Jon asked.

Professor Snape kept Daphne in confinement for a week. Astoria timidly said, "He also ordered Daphne to apologize to you...... Can I apologize to you on her behalf?"

A week's confinement was even more severe than I had imagined. It's almost a level of punishment with Porter and Weasley, who drove to school in a speeding car.

But it's normal to think about it, for Severus Snape, the word he hated the most was undoubtedly "mudblood"!

Jon had no intention of keeping the matter in a stalemate.

"Of course!" he blinked, "You can tell Daphne it's okay!"

"Thank you......" Astoria suddenly smiled and said quickly.

"Let's go!" Jon waved his hand, "I'm back in the Hufflepuff lounge." ”

"Goodbye!"
