Prologue (IV)-6 The Great War begins

After a period of vigorous marching, the Atreus and their large forces had reached the small hillside not far from the local camp.

Here, some of the soldiers of the Commander's Escort quickly set up a tent for the Atrus, which was relatively safe from the front line and some distance from the enemy, and would serve as the Atreus' on-site command for the battle.

On a simple folding table in the tent, Atrus spread out a brief map of the battlefield.

Not far from here lies the camp of unknown enemies.

Before this operation, the Atrus had already studied the formation for the next battle.

At present, all the combat forces have adjusted their formation at the bottom of the hill - from a formation close to a column to a formation close to a horizontal formation.

Now, the phalanx of five kingdom heavy shield swordsmen is located in the middle of the front row.

On both sides of the phalanx of the five kingdom heavy shield swordsmen, there were three kingdom swordsmen in each phalanx.

Kingdom crossbowmen, mixed with some elite guards spearmen - when the enemy approaches, the crossbowmen can quickly retreat behind the spearmen in the same phalanx.

On either side of the kingdom's swordsmen, four of these crossbowmen and spearmen were arranged.

Six phalanxes of Kingdom Guard swordsmans and eight elite Guards Spear Masters were placed in the second row.

On both sides of the infantry formation, from front to back, are lined up with Kingdom Knights, Kingdom Wagons, and Kingdom Elephants.

Of course, the forces deployed by Atreus are more than that.

The phalanx of the three new weapons were located diagonally on the side, protected by the provincial guards brought by the Atrus.

Atreus was at the door of the tent, looking at the strength of this battle, and nodded: "Okay, give the order to action!"

As soon as the herald received the order from the commander, he ran to the soldiers on the corner of the large model.

Now, the soldiers here send a message to so many troops through a huge horn.

This huge horn, of course, is not blown by the mouth - behind these giant horns, there are large manual blowers.

The soldiers at the blower immediately poured the wind into the horn.

In the thick sound of the giant horns, the signal to move forward was transmitted to the front.

A large number of troops not far from the hillside ahead began to advance in unison, full of momentum.

The soldiers will advance behind a gentle slope - although this is a macroscopic plain, if you look closely, the terrain is more or less undulating.

If you can make reasonable use of the slight changes in the terrain here, you can bring a lot of advantages to the battle!

The opponent is good at using ranged weapons for direct attacks, or in other words, their weapons have a flatter trajectory and are more suitable for direct attacks - lining up the entire formation behind a gentle slope can reduce the main damage of the opponent's weapon to a certain extent.

......

Soon, all the troops quickly came to the battle position.

The soldiers in the formation were already ready for battle.

In the formation of a large number of soldiers, it was now quiet.

On the hillside behind, a heavy sound of giant horns sounded.

This time, the friendly forces in the rear blew the horns to start the attack.

"A group of crossbowmen mixed into a phalanx, listen to the order!" shouted the centurion, the commander of the crossbowmen phalanx on one side.

"Two groups of crossbowmen mixed into a phalanx to listen to orders!" A little farther away, the sound of giving orders was also heard from the other side.

"A group of crossbowmen mixed up in a phalanx, forward!" the centurion, the commander of a group of crossbowmen phalanx, then ordered loudly.

On the other side, a similar order came.

On the plain, a neat pace sounded.

The soldiers of the crossbowmen mixed with the phalanx began to march forward slowly and with morale in neat steps.

"A mixed group of crossbowmen, ready! Stop!"

As soon as the centurion, the commander of a group of crossbowmen phalanx, finished speaking, the sound of neat footsteps stopped abruptly.

Two groups of mixed crossbowmen stopped a little behind the top of the slope.

......

"They're starting to line up, too!" said Atrus, looking into the distance.

"Hurry up!" the adjutant reminded him.

Where the enemy is arrayed, there is still a long distance away from their own crossbowmen - this distance is almost twice the range of the crossbow!

However, Atrus naturally took this into account, and he was not in a hurry to let the crossbowmen attack at this time - he had another plan.
