Chapter 98: Dragon Teng
The arcade game planning of Breaking the Sky is just an idea, but it has the potential to become the originator of RPGs. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć ļ½ļ½ļ½ļ½
When it comes to the history of RPG games in future game articles, we will mention "Breaking the Sky" and new start-up electronics companies, how much advertising and branding costs can this save the company?
Therefore, Lin Qi's expensive nature adds bricks to this game and adds a bunch of elements to its planning.
"To have a sense of impact, use fists, weapons, hit the enemy's body, or the player is attacked by NPCs, there must be obvious special effects and sound effects of being hit. ā
"Use a blood bar to represent the vitality of the character. ā
"Use a blue bar to indicate charge, and the character is hit by an enemy, increasing the charge. Virtual full, you can unleash super special moves, super special kills need to have gorgeous strike animations, which are very different from ordinary attacks, and never motivate players to try ultimate. Of course, the release of Super Kill requires more complex operations, such as designing a character's Super Kill A and B buttons to quickly press three times, while the joystick goes around half a circle to the left, which is a little bit technical, so that players are full of a sense of accomplishment for the successful release of Super Kill, and then constantly tempt players to try to release Super Kill. ā
"You can pick up magic weapon props, and these magic weapons are all disposable. It has different special effects, such as immobilizing characters or being extremely lethal to single enemies or group enemies. Some pill props have the effect of replenishing blood and adding blue (charging). ā
Gradually, the game of "Breaking the Sky" gradually broke away from the original framework, and became more and more like "Devouring Heaven and Earth", "Journey to the West" and other classic arcade RPG games.
This made Lin Qi have an idea, and said to Zhao Ruofei: "This game pays more attention to the accumulation of technology. After the experience of this development, traditional masterpieces such as "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "Journey to the West", "Water Margin", "Fengshen Bang" and so on can be used to develop RPG games with similar themes!"
Later, the two most mainstream categories of arcade games were fighting and RPG!
The vast majority of classic RPG games were developed by Japanese game manufacturers, especially in the arcade market, which was more obviously monopolized by Japanese manufacturers.
However, that doesn't mean that only Japanese manufacturers can develop good RPGs. For example, at the end of the 90s, Taiwan's Xiangxiang Electronics made two popular arcade games "Three Kingdoms War" and "Journey to the West". Although these two games are often mistaken for the work of Japanese manufacturers, in fact, they are entirely made by Chinese and have no Japanese companies involved.
The quality of these two games alone is not inferior to the RPG games of the Japanese arcade manufacturers, but the advent of "Three Kingdoms War" and "Journey to the West" was already at the end of the 90s.
The launch of these two masterpieces in the era of the decline of arcade games naturally did not achieve world-class influence. However, both games are still in Asia and have achieved good distribution.
Under the guidance of Lin Qi, the arcade development department of the new venture electronics company began to jump into the pit of RPG, preparing to adapt various classics into arcade RPGs in advance!
"Jin Yong and Gu Long's novels can also be adapted. "Zhao Ruofei himself is a fan of martial arts, and it is of course very pleasant to be able to adapt the novels of Jin Yong and Gu Long.
"Let's talk about it. Lin Qi said, "The copyright influence of classical masterpieces is not inferior to Jin Yong and Gu Long, or even surpasses them." ā
Jin Yong's copyright is not bad, but one is that it costs money to buy, and only one-time licenses can be purchased. At most, it will occupy the authorization within a few years, if the game adapted by it becomes popular, after a few years, what if Jin Yong can still authorize the copyright of the novel to other game companies?
Therefore, buying this kind of adaptation license that is exclusive for several years cannot really bring long-term competitiveness.
Unless the competition in the game industry is too fierce in the future and requires a few years of unique copyright, Lin Qi would rather let the company adapt classical masterpieces than adapt the works of living martial arts masters.

Nintendo's "Donkey Kong", after it was sold in Hong Kong, gave Lin Qi a huge sense of crisis. After that, Lin Qi asked people to inquire about the sales of "Donkey Kong" in the North American market.
The data fed back made Lin Qi feel a heavy pressure.
Donkey Kong was released in the North American market in September, and its price was as high as $2,500 a unit, which is more than 50% more expensive than the average arcade machine in the North American market, but due to the good market feedback, in less than two months, 5,000 game boards have been out of stock.
Hong Kong is such a relatively small market, "Donkey Kong" has sold at least 200 units so far. It can be said that nearly half of the game halls of the non-new entrepreneurial electronics department have introduced "Donkey Kong".
Statistics show that the revenue of the game hall owned by the new venture electronics company has declined by about 10%. It may be because other game halls have taken away some customers after introducing Donkey Kong.
Of course, Lin Qi is very calm, and would rather run his own game hall at a loss, and will never introduce the game "Donkey Kong", because, Lin Qi said that Nintendo is the main opponent of Xinchuang Electronics!
After seeing Nintendo as an enemy, you can't do anything about it!
Lin Qi's concerns are not unreasonable, before the launch of FC console games, Nintendo had already relied on Game Watch and Donkey Kong to achieve great success in the handheld and arcade markets, respectively. Although, due to the impact of the "Chinese Cube" handheld, the sales of the Game Watch are not as good as the historical results, but it is still a very best-selling handheld.
"Donkey Kong" has hit the sales champion in the arcade market in Japan and North America!
At present, the world's largest arcade market is mainly Japan and North America. These two major markets account for about 70% of the global arcade market share, and it is conceivable that Nintendo has launched a popular arcade machine that dominates the arcade market!
What's even more troublesome is the one that may already be in the development stage in Nintendo's laboratory - the red and white machine!
Forget about the arcade market, the market is gradually losing its growth. Moreover, history proves that arcades cannot form a platform, so there has always been a group of heroes competing until the arcade market is depressed, and there has never been an absolute hegemon. Players only recognize the game, not the platform and the game development company!
Due to the sense of crisis, Lin Qi kept going to the semiconductor laboratory and the R&D team of handheld and console games to keep abreast of the progress of the project.
"How can it be so fast?" Yu Youcheng said impatiently to Lin Qi, "If you want a congenitally deficient 16-bit chip, then I can give you a few semi-finished products now." But if you want a chip that has been honed for a long time, then, at least for a while. ā
Lin Qi had no choice but to touch his nose and leave bored.
Of course, Yu Youcheng is not without achievements, before, his 8-bit chip X8 was regarded as a treasure in China.
At present, the domestic production of X8 chips, with a monthly production capacity of 100,000 pieces, has been based on this chip, a cheap computer has been manufactured - Longteng computer.
Although, the floating point operation performance of Longteng computer per second is only 10 million times, but a total of 45 chips are piled up, and the total cost is less than 50,000 yuan, which is only equivalent to one-fifth of the cost of an imported minicomputer.
In fact, it is the best choice to use the reduced instruction set chip for high-end minicomputers, medium-sized computers, mainframes and even super servers.
It may not be a better choice for microcomputers, because the CPU floating-point performance of the reduced instruction set is fast, but it leaves the commands executed by the CPU in many complex instruction set chips to the software. When the hardware is streamlined, the software program has to be bigger. As a result, software programmers who write programs for the reduced instruction set need to write more programs, and the two animals, the program ape and the siege lion, may want to kill the developers of the reduced instruction set chip because of overtime. In addition, there is the disadvantage of requiring more memory, because a lot of the work is done by the software, so the software must be larger, and more memory is needed in order to run large software.
Memory in the 60s ~ 70s was very expensive, so the birth of complex instruction sets at the beginning, in essence, was more economical in hardware costs. Even in the 80s, memory was expensive.
In this era, the cheap LSO chips saved money, because they needed to install more memory to execute programs, so the field of microcomputers has long been unimpressed with the LSO for a long time. Because, you save $100 on the CPU, but you need to add two or three hundred dollars to install a larger capacity of memory.
But when it comes to minicomputers, mainframes, and so on, efficient reduced instruction sets are very cost-effective. Because, the price of these machines themselves is sky-high, not as much as the memory module. The amount of money that can be left over for the production of high-performance mainframe computers on their own is often astronomical.
It is precisely because of this that the Lishan Research Institute, which introduced the X8 chip, has risen in vain, almost no less than the Chinese Research Institute of Computer Science. In addition, the Lishan Research Institute and the Institute of Computer Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have joined forces to develop a supercomputer with 300 million floating-point operations within two years!
Historically, the Galaxy-1 supercomputer was successfully developed in 83 years, and the peak of the Galaxy-1 calculations per second has just exceeded 100 million times.
And the supercomputer to be developed in this plan is not called Galaxy 1, but Super Dragon 1 computer.
As for the domestic mass-produced X8 chip computer, it will be named Longteng, which is to blame Lin Qi.
Because the technology of the X8 chip comes from the new venture electronics company, the domestic computer research and development unit has developed a high-performance minicomputer, and then consulted the new venture electronics company.
And Lin Qi was very busy at the time, so he replied a little impatiently: "Call it Longteng!"
In this way, the first generation of XRM architecture 8-bit chip computer won the name of Longteng computer. Even later, the XRM16-bit chip of Xinchuang Electronics was launched, which was called the Loongson 16-bit processor by the domestic computer industry.
In later generations, there is a "Loongson" in China, which is a chip that has truly mastered its own technical property rights, and can modify the architecture independently, and how to change it if you want, which is completely different from those chips that purchase architecture authorization but claim to be independent chips, but its development road is very bumpy. As soon as it came out, it was already seriously lagging behind, and even with continuous progress, the business prospects were not optimistic due to the lack of support from software and hardware vendors, and because overseas semiconductor equipment manufacturers banned foundries from using their mass production equipment to produce Loongson-based chips. Therefore, the mass production of Loongson has always become a big problem, and it can only use domestic independent research and development of semiconductor production equipment. Therefore, every step is difficult, even if some domestic chip foundries have reached 28 nanometers, 14 nanometers of precision, but they are completely unable to provide mass production foundry services for domestic architecture chips. Because, these chip foundries are also controlled by others, and the core production equipment is imported from overseas, once they give domestic chip foundry, not only will they lose the foundry orders of mature commercial chips, but also can no longer import overseas semiconductor equipment. That is to say, many chip foundries only have the right to use the equipment, and the equipment specifies that you can only give chip foundries of a certain architecture, so you can only find foundry orders within this architecture, and cannot use the existing production capacity and process to change the door.
However, although the XRM series chips of the new venture electronics company have also won the name of Loongson, due to the early development of more than 20 years, even if the import of overseas equipment, there are still many obstacles. However, due to the relatively early development and the different domestic support, the situation of Loongson is much better than that of the parallel world.
