Section 819: Severe torture
20. Punishment shoes
[
Shoes are often combined with a head-hand flail (a device that holds the head and wrists while standing. As long as you can't support your body on your toes, the steel needles on your heels will pierce your heels.
19. Cult Sharp Fork
The Cult Sharp Fork is a torture device, a metal rod with a pointed fork at both ends, secured to the neck by a belt, one end inserted into the chin and the other pointed straight at the sternum. Only by stretching the neck will the pain be reduced, and this torture instrument will cause great pain. The four prongs between the chin and the sternum allow the prisoner enough range of motion for his mouth to confess.
18. Dip in the river
It is mainly used for women, dipping them in rivers, vats or ponds, mostly to punish women and witches who curse the streets, and after soaking for a period of time, to give them the opportunity to confess. If she confessed, she was beaten to death. If she doesn't confess, she'll be flooded again. This process is usually repeated by drowning the victim or abandoning the punishment and allowing himself to be executed by another method (hanging, or burning (rarely)).

17. Wooden boots
The victim's legs were placed between two thick planks and then tied with ropes. The interrogator violently drove the wedge down with a hammer between the ropes. Each time the wedge is punched, the tibia at the tip of the wedge is shattered. The punishment is to drive at least 12 wedges into the upper and lower sides of the legs. When the wooden boots were removed, the bone fragments looked like they were in a loose bag.
16. Waterboarding
This is the only non-medieval item of torture in Europe listed. Waterboarding was the favorite punishment of the Japanese POW Guard during World War II. If the victim is being tortured for the first time, his mouth will be sealed with barbed wire and a rag.
The guards then inserted a snake tube into the victim's nose and poured water into it to inflate the abdomen. After the water is filled, the guard will kick the victim in the abdomen until his stomach bursts, and then death.
15. Cat's paw
It's very simple to use, it is to slowly tear the meat downward, and many times, all the meat is torn off, leaving the bones exposed.
14. Pull frame
It looks like this: tie your hands and feet and pull your body in the opposite direction until your limbs slowly come out of the joints.
13. Four horses split the corpse
Splitting is a higher form of punishment for racking, and is used only for murderers and those who attempt to kill nobles or members of the royal family. The prisoner's four hands and feet were tied separately, and four horses were pulled in four directions at the same time, and the body could be dismembered in an instant. (#ε¨δΈε½ζδΊι©¬εε°Έ)
12. Flowering pear
Depending on the sex of the victim, the pear is inserted into the anus or vagina in a closed state, and then the pear is made to bloom with a hand shake until it is quite uncomfortable.
11. Cleanse the soul
In many Catholic countries, the clergy believed that if a person with an evil soul was forced to eat boiling hot water or burning coals, or both, his corrupt soul could be cleansed. Of course, this is to be done before he is not punished for his crimes, a "warm punishment", if you will.
10. Hanging car
The prisoners in this picture are relatively lucky, as most of the prisoners using the cages are completely naked and exposed to extreme cold or heat. Moreover, most of the prisoners who were sentenced to cage punishment were usually hanged there after other punishments had been inflicted. But wait β for a long time! The victim remains in the cage until he is hanged or dies of thirst, which can take weeks.
9. Head crusher
The death penalty with a head crusher is usually carried out like this: the tooth is squeezed into the socket and the surrounding jawbone is shattered. Then the eyes shoot out of the eye sockets and the brains squirt out of the ears. Incredibly, many countries still use the same version of the head crusher as an interrogation tool today.
8. Burn on the pillar
It is especially used by witches who have been accused of blasphemy. The clergy believed that burning a witch would permanently wipe out her evil spirits in the physical world, thus eliminating any further contamination of innocent souls that might occur. It makes sense.
7. Judas's sharp stool
The inmate is suspended from the upper part of the pyramid spire, which is slowly lowered, and the spire is inserted into the crotch. The tightness of the chain depends on the mood of the executioner, who can control whether the weight of the victim is fully applied to this point.
6. Knife stool
The knife stool is a variant of the pointed stool of Judas. We believe that the picture is not very clearly explained.
5. Iron Maiden
The following record of the first use of the Iron Lady on August 14, 1515: "The forged coin was placed inside, and the door was slowly closed, so that sharp steel needles pierced his arms, legs, abdomen, chest, bladder, thighs, heels, eyes, shoulders, and ass from several parts, but not enough to kill him, so he shouted and wailed loudly for two days before he died." β
4. Interrogation chairs
Not only are there hundreds of tiny nail tips that make it difficult to sit still, but there is often a fire underneath that bakes the iron chair to a terrible scalding heat.
3. Assassination
It was the standard form of punishment for traitors in the Middle Ages in Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli and Salee (I can't tell what the place was). Believe it or not, once the long thorn is inserted through the victim's anus and then out of his mouth or throat, the victim can live in this state for more than a day and crawl through the mud for everyone to see.
2. Sawing
Sawing may represent the darkest hour of human ingenuity. The principle is that when the victim hangs upside down, most of the blood will rush to the head. This is the most important thing in the whole process, you see, because what is seen as the executioner is the victim's crotch. The blood in the head can be fully oxygenated, and the consequences of this are the most terrible, because before cutting to the navel, and sometimes sawing to the upper abdomen, the prisoner is very conscious, and can avoid the rapid loss of blood and death.
1. Rotational punishment
Well, the last one is also the most dangerous. Wheel punishment is second only to hanging cages, and was the most common form of punishment in Germany during the Middle Ages. First, the victim (usually naked) had his limbs tied to the ground apart. However, the wooden spokes correspond to the main joints such as the wrists, ankles, knees, hips and shoulders. The executioners broke limbs and joints with heavy iron-clad wheels. However, this is only the beginning of the nightmare. After the bones of the limbs are broken and mixed with blood and flesh to form a soft state, the limbs are braided to the spokes of the wheel, and then hung with the front facing outward. The tormented victim will remain in this state for several days, and after his or her death he or she will be transformed into a feast for crows and insects.
