Volume 2 Plane Battle, Chapter 223: Three Ways to Become an Immortal
Xie Bi'an then continued: Those who perform this technique, after death, the bones will not rot, the three souls and seven spirits will not fall into the netherworld, and they will continue to practice in the bones, at least a few decades, or more than a few hundred years, and then they can preach the Tao, and then the white bones and flesh will soar in a hundred days, and they will become immortals.
The soul of the Taoist has been practicing in the bones for more than 300 years, and he will be able to preach the Tao in a few days, but he saw that Zhu Yuanshan was in trouble, and in order to repay the kindness of the day, he had to go out of the customs in advance and scare away the officers and soldiers.
Zhu Yuanshan listened, and hurriedly knelt down to thank him for saving his life. The skeleton said, "Since you and I can see each other, it is fate, and I will give you one more thing." There is a concave hole in the stone wall in the southwest corner of this cave, there is a box inside, there is a book and a few pills in the box, the book is my Taoist self-cultivation exercise, you can prolong life with diligent practice, no disease and no disease. ”
Zhu Yuanshan was very happy when he heard this, and thanked him, and the skeleton told Zhu Yuanshan to live in seclusion in the mountains temporarily, and then go down the mountain after three years, and eat a box of pills when he was hungry. Then he sat down cross-legged and said no more.
Zhu Yuanshan came to the southwest corner of the cave, and sure enough, he got a box from the small hole on the stone wall, there were books and seven or eight pills in the box, his parents were dead, and he did not marry a wife and have children, so he listened to what the Taoist said, lived in the mountain, practiced Taoist exercises when he had nothing to do, and ate a pill when he was hungry, and he didn't feel hungry for half a year.
After three years, Zhu Yuanshan went down the mountain, and heard that some time ago, the Son of Heaven purged the dynasty, and the traitor had been punished, and Zhu Yuanshan was also rehabilitated, and the official was reinstated.
Later, because of the incorruptibility of the official, fair and selfless and appreciated by the Son of Heaven, he entered the court as an official, and was a scholar, because he knew the suffering of the people, and often asked for the people's life, and was deeply loved by the people.
In the twilight of his life, he resigned and returned to his hometown, often climbed Huayin Mountain to visit the bones of the man, climbed the mountain again one day, suddenly saw the top of the mountain in the sunset, and vaguely saw someone lifting the glow and soaring, and disappeared outside the nine clouds under the support of Yunxia. When I came to the cave, the bones of the Taoist disappeared!
Zhu Yuanshan was in his old age, but he still did not show his old age, his crane hair was childish, and his spirit was strong, until he was more than 100 years old, he died without illness!
Xie Bi'an looked at the Yin soldiers who had been rushing from the depths of the underworld to reinforce him, and only then did he slightly relax his slightly nervous emotions just now! He continued: Taoism believes that through cultivation, a person's material life can be continued, and his spiritual life can also be sublimated, and he will eventually become an immortal and attain the Tao.
For this reason, in the pursuit of immortal beliefs, the Taoist masters of the past dynasties have been very active in exploring the ways of cultivating immortals, summing up a wealth of cultivation doctrines and cultivation methods, and their spiritual motivation is "my life is in my absence", in addition to saving oneself, but also saving others. Therefore, Taoism has always said that "attaining the Tao becomes an immortal", and before becoming an immortal, there is also a word "attaining the Tao".
"Dao" is the law and law of the operation of the universe, so if a cultivator masters these laws and laws, he can benefit the world!
Therefore, those who learn the Tao and cultivate the Tao should not only continue their lives and achieve physical health and longevity, but also become great wisdom, biochemical spirits, help the world and benefit people, and accumulate merits, so as to achieve the eternal survival of the spirit after death.
When Zhang Daoling, the patriarch of Taoism, established the religion, he integrated the traditional folk witchcraft and immortal beliefs with Taoist thoughts, and completed the belief system of Taoism. In it, he said, "Life, the other body of the Tao." He also said, "Dao means to kill the noble immortals." ”
Cherishing life and pursuing health and longevity are not only the starting point of Taoism's bioethics, but also the ultimate goal.
Taoists always yearn for a life of freedom and leisure, and the unity of life and the Tao, believing that through cultivation, enlightenment and cultivation, not only can the spiritual life be sublimated, but also the physical life can be reborn.
As a cultivator, only by fully and profoundly understanding the meaning of immortality and attaining immortality can one truly realize the essence of the Great Dao in his practice.
First of all, Taoism sees human beings as the unity of form, qi, god, or life and sexuality. In terms of understanding the basic structure of human beings, Taoism uses the theory of form, qi and spirit, the theory of life, and the theory of viscera meridians. In this way, we can complete a complete grasp of the vertical and horizontal parts of human beings and their interrelationships.
In terms of understanding the course of life, Taoists put forward a set of theories about the complete process from innate qi to fetus, infants, children, adulthood, and finally death to become ghosts or immortals.
In the understanding of the characteristics and values of life, Taoism believes that there are a series of limitations and limitations in life, such as the eternity of life, the stagnation of the body, the constant accompaniment of suffering, and the impermanence of fortune and misfortune, and the only way for people to fundamentally get rid of these limitations and limitations is to cultivate the Tao to become immortals.
Therefore, after Taoism theorized, religiousized and put into practice the theory of becoming an immortal, there were many ways and methods to become an immortal, such as talismans, incantations, taking pills, in-room techniques, and keeping spirits. However, through the practice of the predecessors of the past generations, it has been proved that the technical methods such as taking the outer pill with an organic heart cannot systematically solve the problem of becoming an immortal.
Therefore, since the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Heavenly Master Xu Xun proposed a method of cultivating the Inner Dan to become an immortal in a book. In the period of the five dynasties of the Sui and Tang dynasties, the Taoist priest Su Yuanlang of the Maoshan faction, the Taoist priest Zhang Guolao of the Yunyang faction, and the Taoist priest Zhong Liquan of the Lingbao faction also attached great importance to the inner Dan technique.
On the basis of Xu Xun's viewpoint, they proposed the dual cultivation of life, attaching importance to the combination of inner spiritual cultivation and external refining of the body and taking pills, basically reaching the realm of three-in-one cultivation.
Zhang Guolao also annotated the writing, and Zhong Liquan wrote the secrets of cultivating immortals at that time.
Ge Hong, a famous Taoist scholar of the Jin Dynasty, described it: "The sergeant lifts his form and ascends to the void, and he is called a heavenly immortal." The sergeant swims in the famous mountain, which is called the land immortal. The corporal dies first and then sheds, which is called the autopsy immortal. Ge Hong believes that there are three ways to become an immortal, that is, ascending to become an immortal, autopsy becoming an immortal, and immortality.
Moreover, these three kinds are divided into upper, medium and inferior, and the highest level is the one who has ascended to immortality.
Simply put, it means that after a cultivator's path has reached a certain level or has worn elixir, he can ascend to the purple clouds and ascend to the heavenly realm. Ascension is the immortal of God and form, which is superior in all the ways to become immortals, which is exactly what is said to be "the body attains the Tao, and the god also attains the Tao; The body is immortal, and the god is also immortal. ”
Many famous Taoist immortals, according to legend, ascended to immortality in the daytime. Taoist patriarch Zhang Daoling Heavenly Master in the Eastern Han Dynasty in Guixi County, Jiangxi Province Yunjin Mountain Zhaoji refining the Nine Heavens Divine Pill, "Dan Cheng and the Dragon and Tiger See", Longhu Mountain is named after this.
Later, Zhang Tianshi went to Heming Mountain in Sichuan to continue his cultivation, during which Taishang Laojun passed on Zhang Tianshi's Taoist method of being a league of might, and awarded him all kinds of scriptures, evil swords and jade seals.
As a result, Zhang Daoling Tianshi formally founded Taoism, and since then Taoism has gradually developed and grown, and when Zhang Tianshi was one hundred and twenty-two years old, the sword seal that symbolizes the identity of Zhengyi was passed on to his son Zhang Heng, and his disciples Wang Chang and Zhao Sheng soared in the day.
According to legend, Xu Xun, the founder of the Jingming School, also ascended in the daytime, and the famous allusion "One person attains the Tao, and the chicken and dog ascend to heaven" is based on Xu Xun's patriarch.
Xu Xun is a person of the Jin Dynasty, once an official and then resigned from the official cultivator, in Xu Xun to one hundred and thirty-six years old, that is, the first day of August in the second year of Ningkang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Xu Xun and his family of 42 people, together with the chickens and dogs in the courtyard, pulled out the house and flew into immortals.
Even the folk legend of Chang'e running to the moon is also flying in the daytime, legend has it that Hou Yi asked for the elixir of immortality from the Queen Mother of the West and was eaten by Chang'e, and Chang'e, who had eaten the elixir, flew up and flew into the Guanghan Palace, becoming the fairy of the Moon Palace.
The method of cultivating the inner pill to become an immortal was considered a peak in the Song Dynasty. Before that, the Heavenly Master Ge Hong said in it, "Those who want to seek immortals should be based on loyalty, filial piety, harmony, obedience, benevolence, and faith. ”
It is proposed that if you want to become an immortal, you must start by cultivating your own morality. The cultivation of virtue is also called external cultivation, but external cultivation lays the foundation for internal cultivation, and only by cultivating both internally and externally can we enter the deep realm of cultivating the "truth", and only in this way can we truly attain the "Tao".
That's why it says, "If you don't cultivate morality, you won't succeed in learning the Tao." He also said: "If a person can correct his body and mind, then the true spirit and true spirit will gather in it, and great talents and virtues will come out of it."
Therefore, Zhang Ziyang, a Taoist priest of the Jindan faction in the Song Dynasty, wrote it based on his own experience in cultivating immortals, and on the basis of cultivating immortals, he began to put forward the statement that cultivating Neidan to become an immortal should not only be moral, but also to cultivate merit, indicating that people who have no merit are useless to practice Neidan.
Combining the cultivation of immortals and the cultivation of personal merits into an organic system, in this way, the path to immortality for those who do not cultivate merit is blocked.
Wang Chongyang, the patriarch of the Quanzhen School, also proposed that the cultivation of immortals should also be the primary task of Neidan at a later time, advocating the dual cultivation of life and the clear mind. Sex refers to a person's heart, thoughts, character, etc. Life refers to a person's body, life, destiny, etc. The dual cultivation of life refers to the "cultivation of both divine form and body", and the comprehensive cultivation of mind and body.
In fact, Heavenly Master Ge Hong talks about life and death and becoming an immortal from the perspective of the urgent practice of cultivating immortals. He is afraid that people do not pay attention to "life" and miss the opportunity to become immortals, and the only thing people can grasp is life, so we must pay attention to a kind of self-control and autonomy over physical life, pay attention to the method of cultivation, and at the same time not be attached to physical life!
There is no "wit" for the goal of becoming an immortal and immortal, go with the flow, be at peace with the situation, and be at ease. In fact, in the process of cultivating Taoism to become an immortal, if there is a "machine mind" that is obsessed with "life", there will be fetters and constraints, and it will definitely not "become an immortal".
Only by transcending the realm of life and death, forgetting things and self, can we achieve the ultimate "enlightenment and immortality".
