So to sum up, according to the different methods of becoming immortals, it can be divided into three types. The spirit and body are transcended at the same time and the "heavenly immortals" who soar up, only the physical body is immortal and the "earth immortals" who are happy in the world, and there are the "autopsy immortals" who are detached after death, among which the heavenly immortals are the superior way, and the autopsy immortals are the inferior methods.

After talking about ascension, let's talk about "autopsy", at first glance this name is a bit scary, in fact, it is also a way to become an immortal. According to Ge Hong's words, "first die and then metamorphosis, which is called autopsy", it means that after people die first, they can become immortals like cicadas.

According to the Taoist understanding, ordinary mortals see this practitioner dead, but someone else sees him in other places.

Legend has it that Zhang Guolao, one of the eight immortals, was autopsied into an immortal. During the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Guolao was often seen riding a donkey, traveling thousands of miles a day, and the road was quite deep. Tang Taizong, who fantasized about being able to live forever, ordered to summon Zhang Guolao, but Zhang Guolao refused to obey and fell to the ground and died.

He was found somewhere else. During the period of Tang Xuanzong, he wanted to invite Zhang Guolao into the court, Zhang Guolao's old trick was repeated, and the corpse was rotten and stinky, Tang Xuanzong thought he was really dead, and later people found Zhang Guolao riding a donkey in the mountains.

The earliest record of autopsy immortals can be traced back to the period of the Yellow Emperor, which records that there was a man named Ning Fengzi who died after eating a flying fish, was resurrected after two hundred years, and finally jumped into the fire to burn his body to become an immortal, and he also served as the teacher of the Yellow Emperor.

Of course, autopsy is a method, and it does not have to abandon the body, but is similar to snakes and cicadas molting, in short, there are many methods, divided into more than ten kinds of hydrolysis, fire hydrolysis, military dissolution, sword decomposition, etc., but the common point is to die once, even if it is fake death.

For example, the military solution is to use bamboo or wooden staff to entrust one's spirit and spirit, as a magic weapon to sacrifice, and finally become one's own corpse, instead of dying on his own, the same is true for sword solution, which belongs to the category of fake death.

Since there is fake death, of course, there are also real deaths, this is terrifying, some of the corpses are separated after death, some leave human skin, and some of the flesh is gone in the bones, which is also called "solution", it is indeed a decomposition of the body, it is hard to imagine what it is to become an immortal in the end.

This is also one of the disadvantages of autopsy, but fake death is not necessarily clever, there are also failures, for example, it is recorded that a person named Qianping, who faked the autopsy for nearly a hundred years and was resurrected, it can be seen that it was not successful, but the fake death is a way back, and there is no missing arm or leg.

Compared with the Heavenly Immortals and the Earth Immortals, the advantage of the Autopsy Immortals is that the requirements are relatively low, neither need to cultivate their lives like the Heavenly Immortals, nor do they need to take various medicines like the Earth Immortals, they only have certain requirements for the comprehension of the Dao, which is relatively much simpler, so it was once very used by cultivators.

The disadvantage is that the probability of success is not guaranteed, at least in the eyes of the world, you are dead, who knows whether you are really dead or fake, immortal or not? The success rate has always been a mystery, and there are very few successful cases recorded in the biographies of the immortals in the past dynasties.

And even if the method of fake death is very risky, if you are not careful, you will really kill yourself, even if you succeed by luck, it is estimated that it is a defective product, of course, it is relatively difficult to become an immortal, this is also a different way, but it is more extreme, not like the right way.

Therefore, Taoism after the Tang and Song dynasties has completely negated and criticized the autopsy immortal, and few people mention it, in fact, the popularity of the autopsy immortal is largely because of the fact that it is becoming an immortal, which is becoming more and more difficult, and it is a choice for people to retreat.

There are many immortals who are autopsied into immortals, and Ge Xuan, who is known as Ge Xianweng, often takes bait and is good at divine transformation, and finally autopsies into immortals; Li Shaojun during the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was also an autopsy immortal. Li Shaojun said that he died of illness, and Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty "made people send his coffin, there was no corpse, only the clothes were in place".

"Piao Piao is like a legacy of independence, feathering and ascending to immortals. "Feathering originally refers to the process by which an insect grows wings after breaking out of its cocoon and transforms from a reptile into a flying animal, such as a butterfly. Feathering is a way to become an immortal pursued by Taoist practice, and "Zhuang Shengxiao dreams of butterflies" Zhuangzi dreams of becoming a butterfly.

Compared to "ascension", feathering is the most desired way for every practitioner to become an immortal, and Taoist priests will be called feathering when they die.

There are several methods of autopsy: 1. "Pyrolysis": "If you apply medicine to charcoals, others will be burned to death when they see the form, which is called cremation." Third, "Soldier Solution": "First make people Longright, Fengjia will have two disciples, and the calculation has been more than 1,000 miles, which is Zhu Jiari." The coffin of the envoy and the two disciples, Chang Lingfa Jia and the two disciples, there is no corpse, and each has a bamboo cane."

Fourth, "cane solution": "When taking the bamboo of the spiritual mountain and the sun, so that the length of seven feet has knots, as a scepter, so that the upper and lower are straight, and the sweet bamboo is good." Introduce five pharynges of qi from each of the five directions, and combine twenty-five pharyngals to stop. He has been doing this for nine years, he is cautious and not slow, God really sees the form, and the rod carries people empty. If you want to autopsy, the rod will take shape, and in a moment, it has become a real person. ”

Taoism is also known as: the day to say the upper autopsy, the middle of the night to the lower autopsy, to the twilight of the person who goes, called the underground master. However, later generations of Taoism believed that, generally speaking, autopsy was the inferior product of the way to become immortals.
