Chapter 207: Construction of a New Farm
When it comes to projects that cost money, it is impossible not to mention his No. 2 and No. 3 farms, which are in the construction phase. Fences are to be built on both farms, and the total length of the fences built for the two farms, which have a total area of 2.3 square kilometres, is more than 10 kilometres. The cost of the fence is about 300 yuan a meter, which is more than 3 million yuan.
The construction of the interior of Farm No. 3 was relatively simple, only digging a moat around the farm, and simply repairing the existing houses, adding some agricultural machinery, and buying the same millions of yuan.
The construction of Farm No. 2 is complicated. Dozens of greenhouses for planting, a large number of livestock sheds and related breeding facilities, the investment is simply astronomical. More than 20 excavators, loaders and bulldozers have been working for months without showing signs of completion. But there is a welcome side.
Alfalfa has been sown and water has been produced from deep wells for irrigation, and the entire farm has now been watered with the support of improvised drip irrigation facilities. Most of the planted alfalfa has already sprouted.
In the No. 2 farm, the vegetable greenhouse with the fastest construction progress has already been completed, and the first crop of vegetables is almost ready for market. The earthworms, which began to be cultivated at the same time as the vegetables, have already been harvested once, and because of the large cultivation area, their production is more than double that of the earliest No. 1 farm.
In the chicken farms with the least need for feed, the first roosters that have grown into young chickens have already developed hard feathers and are running back and forth in their own activity fields, full of vitality. The chicks of the laying hens have also been in the market for a while, and they have grown a lot. The addition of these chickens brings life to Farm No. 2.
Pheasant breeding has been moved from Farm No. 1 to Farm No. 2, where there is more space for breeding and is more suitable for the growth and reproduction of these pheasants. After Tian Chuan returned to the capital, Li Erbao organized people to set up a pheasant capture team, and in more than a month, a total of several hundred pheasants were caught, forming a large flock of chickens. With good nutrition, these pheasants have already begun to lay eggs. The eggs are picked out and artificially incubated, which is much more efficient than letting the hens incubate. Because the total number of eggs is always not enough to hatch once, these unknown hens are still working tirelessly to lay eggs. Of course, there are a small number of more intelligent hens who can't wait to get enough eggs to start holding the nest, so they can go, anyway, there are already thousands of fertilized eggs in artificial incubation. At the same time, many hens are still laying eggs, and it seems that there will be a lot of pheasants in the series this year.
The "glasses" developed by Professor Lang for the male pheasants have been put on the heads of the roosters, and sure enough, they have played a decisive role in preventing these roosters from fighting. The roosters with glasses no longer fight, and even if they occasionally have the motivation to fight, they can only waste their strength because they can't see the target, and after a few times, they no longer play this boring game.
These glasses were quickly introduced to the body of ordinary roosters, and in the future, bred roosters no longer had to cut their beaks. Glasses are injection molded using safe polypropylene plastic, as long as there is a pair of molds, an injection molding machine, tens of thousands can be produced in a day, the cost of each glasses is less than a dime, it is a disposable, and waste plastic can be recycled after use, there is basically no pollution and waste.
No one has yet discovered the advantages of such glasses, and no one has yet imitated them. Anyway, the farm has already applied for a patent for this glass, and there is no need to worry about others coming to their door to sue them for infringement. As for whether to sue the counterfeiter for infringement, that is a matter of necessity.
While breeding on his own, Professor Lang also helped the farm find a place to sell pheasant seedlings. That place is not too far, in Qinglong County, not far from the farm. As you can tell from the name, this county is adjacent to Yongyang and is also along the Qinglong River. The farm has 20,000 pheasant chicks in the pheasant breeding farm*, and the breeding farm of these pheasants is kept separately from the pheasant chicks bred by Farm No. 2 to facilitate the existence of differences between the nests.
The grass on the new farm has not yet grown, and there are no conditions for raising cattle and sheep for the time being, so the scale of cattle and sheep breeding is still limited, and the original No. 1 farm has not yet expanded.
Farm No. 2 also has a new breeding project here, which is pigs. The pig farm here is designed to have more than 1,000 pigs, which are raised in stages so that they can be slaughtered every day. There are now more than 300 pigs living in the pig farm of Farm No. 2.
These pigs are also raised using relatively healthy green and pollution-free methods. The land area here is much larger than that of Farm No. 1, so the pigs also have their own sports fields and swimming pools. Although it can't be compared with the old pigs living in villas that Tian Chuan and Xu Jingyi saw in Germany, they are much happier than the compatriots in other farms who are locked up in prison-like rooms.
In the depression, there are more than a dozen fish ponds that have been trimmed, and all of them have been stocked with fish fry. These fry include the common crucian carp, carp, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp and other four large fish, as well as some rare soft-shelled turtle, black fish, catfish, chant fish and other slightly higher value fish.
The area of the depression is quite huge, and in order to raise the depression in most places, the pit formed by taking soil and forming a fish pond is far more than the dozen or so now. After autumn, some of the existing fish ponds will be built. In addition, the largest pond will form a huge water surface of more than 150 acres, like a small lake. A variety of fish species will be stocked here, and a variety of aquatic cash crops such as lotus root, cattail grass, and callus white will be planted. and some aquatic plants that can be used to feed animals such as grass carp and geese. The lake will be used as an eco-regulating lake for the entire farm.
A large area of newly padded flat land in the depression has been set aside for pheasant farms, and raising pheasants on flat ground can be more effective in preventing them from taking off and fleeing by the height of the slope. The other newly laid land is intended to be managed as rice fields. It's just that the fertility of these paddy fields is so poor that they will definitely not be used to grow rice this year, so instead of putting water into them, they will be used as dry land, sprinkled with grass seeds, and planted alfalfa to increase the fertility of the land. It is conceivable that with the abundant organic fertilizer and alfalfa here, the land of Farm No. 2 will become much more fertile this year, and maybe a lot of crops can be planted next year.
The farms have planned the places where they need to be planted, and all kinds of trees have been planted. Fruit trees make up a large proportion of these trees. This is determined by the preference of Tagawa, the boss, and certainly cannot be diverted by the opinions of others. Besides, there is no decisive influence on what kind of trees are planted here, only the difference between having and not having them. Since the boss likes fruit trees, of course he needs a variety of fruit trees.
In today's farms, a large number of two-year-old and three-year-old fruit trees are planted in pits that have been dug with a tree pit machine and pre-fertilized, and then watered by drip irrigation equipment, and the survival rate of the seedlings is very high. If there are a few seedlings that are not alive, they will be treated and replanted by the seedling company, which is already a clause in the agreement.
At the highest point of the slope, two cisterns have been repaired, one is covered, and the groundwater is pumped from a deep well to be used as daily water for the personnel and the farm animals. The other, larger cistern is open-air and contains water partly from rainwater and partly from deep wells. When the drinking water pool is cleaned regularly, the effluent also enters the pool. The water in this large pool is mainly used for irrigation and flushing of the farm.
On the westernmost side of the farm, there is a relatively large organic fertilizer plant. Animal manure and feed residues cleaned up from the farms, as well as used earthworms and vegetable culture media, as well as some green plants, will be processed into standard fertilizers in the same state and easy to apply in this organic fertilizer factory, and in the future, the organic fertilizer spreader specially developed by the machine factory will be sown in various fields.
It makes sense that the fertilizer plant is located on the west side of the farm, as the terrain here is relatively flat, which is convenient for fertilizer processing and drying. At the same time, it is not easy to blow the bad smell here into every corner of the farm.
In the northeast corner of the farm, near the edge, dozens of acres were set aside. These lands are rare on farms. This is reserved for Tian Chuan, he wants to build a house of his own here in the future, when there is nothing to do, he can live here, grow some vegetables and flowers, boxing, archery, fishing, and enjoy life freely. You can also get a few horses, and if you ride them on horseback, your life will be close to perfection. It's just that he hasn't had time to get these yet, so he has to reserve this place first.
He did not let the land be abandoned, but asked the construction team to build a closed fence around the land, and then fertilized the nursery land for planting grass on the inside as well as on the outside, so that he could use it to grow vegetables later.
Thanks to his efforts, the two new farms have become greener, the sounds of animals have increased, and the activities of various construction machinery have changed from the original desolate scene to a thriving land that can generate income.
The local government, which contracted the land to Tagawa, was quite satisfied with the change in the land. Both of these lands have been used for agriculture only, and both plots of land have been virtually uncultivable for various reasons. If it is transformed, the investment is too large, and the general agricultural production cannot be profitable.
Tian Chuan has indeed invested heavily in these two pieces of land, and only his national charm can make a profit.
