Chapter 166: The Matrix Trilogy!
In the film shooting plan of Magnesium Country Dream Airlines, other films are easy to say, and special effects and stunts can be handled. But only the setting of the Matrix makes the director a little confused, and the stunts in it are good to say, according to the company's technology, it can be fully undertaken, but the logic of this story is the most headache for the director, because some of the settings in the script The director has a headache when he sees it, and he doesn't even have a clear understanding of the whole logic, and the Wachowski brothers dare to shoot it.
In fact, if you want to shoot the Matrix well, the Wachowski brothers are the best candidates, because the Matrix trilogy was originally filmed by these two brothers. The reason why they can't understand the script is that Shao Gong added a lot of his own ideas to the original setting, especially after adding a lot of his own settings beyond the original in the first part, the brothers were confused.
Shao Gong has not been to the company for a month, and the company has only started filming "Changing Face", "Deep Sea Shark" and "Python Disaster", these three last year John Woo participated in the filming of "Air Prison" has accumulated enough experience, this face change is tailor-made for him. The great white sharks of Dream Voyage have achieved remarkable results, and the deep-sea wild sharks also have enough experience and venues. And there is a foreshadowing of the second part in the first part, and it is reasonable to launch the follow-up.
Ye Xuan joined Dream Voyage and two consecutive movies were filmed, and part of the Python Disaster was filmed in Diama, and most of it was on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, after all, it was a legacy and independent, with a primitive style, and it was the filming location of Jurassic Park, which was the most suitable filming location for the Python Disaster.
As for the extreme cold, Van Helsing, Inception, and Pirates of the Caribbean are all in the works.
The only problem is that the fourth film, which is about to start shooting, makes the director a little confused, so he doesn't dare to start shooting.
Shao Gong returned to the company, directly found the director of the Matrix, and tried to explain a logical and self-consistent story line of the "Matrix" series to them in the shortest possible time.
Because the director is confused about the script, such a movie must not be filmed. After all, even the director didn't understand the script, and such a movie was a street bargain.
It stands to reason that this story is also very simple to tell, and if it is regarded as a pure science fiction, it is indeed a bit unbelievable, but according to Shaogong's setting, at the beginning of the story, humans and machines/artificial intelligence start a doomsday showdown. Humanity was quickly defeated. At that time, machines relied on solar energy, so humans tried to stop them by shielding them from sunlight with black clouds that covered the entire earth. The result did not work at all, and humanity was completely defeated. It stands to reason that machines are perfectly capable of exterminating humanity at this point, but strangely they don't. Instead of perishing, human beings were made into bioenergy batteries, which became the energy source of machines.
If you take it from the perspective of hard science fiction, it is obviously not reasonable for machines to obtain energy from humans. Humans are given nutrients containing calories (energy) that humans depend on for their livelihood, and then apparently only a tiny fraction of them are converted into bioelectricity. After going around in such a big circle, the machine survived with the little bit of bioelectricity that was finally converted. This is simply too inefficient in terms of energy conversion rate. Even with current human technology in the real world, there are many ways to convert the energy in food into electricity more directly than by countless times more efficient. Not to mention that in the high-tech setting of the film, there are so many more efficient ways for machines to obtain energy. So, the machine is just a front for getting energy from humans. In other words, humans are indeed making the batteries of machines, but this is obviously not the real purpose of machines. The purpose of captive human beings may be for other reasons.
, this is what the director can't understand, because a good science fiction film must no longer logically have paradoxes, which is the most unacceptable problem for big productions under the business model.
Let Shaogong's premise of the script is that the machines are not completely cold-blooded from the beginning, they don't want humans to be extinct in the first place, but at the same time, they don't want to be threatened by humans anymore. In this way, the best solution to coexist with humans is to imprison human bodies, and then use a virtual world to control their spirits, which is the later "matrix", "matrix". And using humans as biological batteries is just a by-product. It is even very likely that the statement "humans are batteries" is just the speculation of those awakened humans later, and the container that imprisons the human body is not a battery at all, but just a pure life support + virtual world access device.
Another reason may be that machines have always wanted to study humans to improve themselves, which is evident from the purpose of the existence of the "prophet" program. In the same way, in order to eliminate the human threat, while integrating human consciousness into the virtual world for machine observation and study, human beings must be imprisoned in some way. So, no matter what the reason, in short, it is not as simple as "being a battery", and the "human captive system" of "life support equipment + Matrix", which integrates software and hardware, was born. Since then, all human bodies have been placed in life-sustaining devices, and their spirits have lived in the Matrix. Most people don't realize that what they're feeling is just a series of neurostimulation signals that Matrix sends to their brains.
The designer of Matrix is the "architect" who appeared at the end of the second episode of "Reloaded".
The architect is just an AI (artificial intelligence) program in the machine world and a humanized projection in the Matrix world. In fact, the architect and the baby-faced "machine king" in the real world in the third episode of "Matrix Revolution" are actually two sides of the same coin. Behind it is the hypervisor with the highest authority in the machine world. The Machine Emperor is the image of the physical machine that controls it in reality, and the Architect is the image of the humanoid projection of it in the Matrix.
According to Agent Smith in the first episode and the architect in the second episode, there have been many versions of the Matrix.
In the beginning, architects had very limited knowledge of human psychology, and at that time it was more like a pure "computer". Everything in the first generation of Matrix was computable. That generation of Matrix was mathematically sound, and the human brain had to operate in this perfect mathematical model. But apparently this is not the case with human beings, and there are so many strange ideas in the human brain that cannot be predicted by simple mathematical formulas. These things are actually the "free will" that we humans are all too familiar with, and people have to have some space for free choice to live. So the Matrix, which was mathematically determined, was clearly not adapted to this property of the human brain, and it collapsed.
So the architect didn't give up, thinking that it was because humans didn't adapt to the new environment, so they rewrote the Matrix in the context of human history, and let humans live in a historical era where their ancestors once lived. But this generation of Matrix still failed. It was only then that the top administrators of the machine world realized that they knew too little about the human psyche. So they wrote an advanced program dedicated to the study of the human psyche – the "Prophet".
And with the help of this new machine program prophet, the architect's brain is starting to turn a bit. It adds some mathematical randomness to the Matrix, and the humans in x are starting to have some leeway for free will to work, and the fate of people has some randomness in this version of the Matrix. Such a matrix is closer to the real world.
However, there are still problems with this version of Matrix, and the problems mainly come from two kinds of bugs.
The first type of bug: the rebels among the human race, because even in human society, there are always 1% of the human race who are "born rebellious", and this little prickly head always wonders if the Matrix is real every day. So they become bugs in the system. If left unchecked, Matrix will still collapse.
In order to deal with this bug, the architects' approach is to allow the 1% of less honest humans to awaken and break away from the Matrix. Since their stay in the Matrix would jeopardize the system, simply let them go. As a result, the machine world allowed these awakened rebels to build a city called Zion underneath the real world, and at the same time acquiesced in allowing them to access the Matrix from time to time, become hackers in the Matrix, and carry out resistance movements. This is also the biggest subversion of the first part in the second and third sequels: the hacker who symbolizes human freedom in the first episode is actually in the architect's game without knowing it.
The second bug comes from the program itself, and due to the continuous improvement of the Matrix system, some old programs are removed from time to time. However, due to the advanced level of AI, in addition to the properties that were originally designed, these programs in Matrix are also increasingly contaminated with human thinking and emotions. For example, it has even become like a human being to be "afraid of death". This is one of the most interesting settings in Matrix.
Such programs that don't want to die and don't want to be deleted are hiding in Matrix. The Frenchman in the second episode is one of the best of these programs, not only becoming the biggest outlaw in the Matrix world, but also providing shelter for other illegal programs, as if he were the biggest underground king in the Matrix.
As a result, these illegal programs have become bugs. If there are too many bugs, Matrix is also in danger of crashing. The architect's response to this type of bug is to collect the code he can find related to illegal programs and write a program called "Savior", which is the protagonist. And the second part of the Frenchman's remarks and the fate entanglement between Agent Smith and the protagonist are easy to see, and the protagonist's program is undoubtedly the same type of existence as these illegal programs. Moreover, it is their culmination.
Then the architect implants such a program into the spirit of a human being, and the protagonist is born. In the world of Matrix, the difference between the consciousness generated by the program and the human soul is actually very small. At this point, the Indian family in the third part is actually a program, and they obviously have human feelings. The difference between people and programs is only the carrier, the carrier of the program is the chip, and the carrier of the soul is the human brain. So the program and the soul can be combined completely. Their combination gives rise to a new species, which does not belong to machines or to pure human beings, and their spirits are actually a combination of neural signals and program code generated by the human brain like the protagonist, which is also the ultimate goal of the architect and the prophet, to merge machines and humans to build a world that does not distinguish between each other.
However, before such a world can be established, the Matrix and reality will need to evolve according to the predetermined ones. So every time the machines threaten the awakened humans in Zion, the Resistance hackers will encounter the Prophet, and the Prophet will ask the hackers to find the savior, the protagonist, because the savior can help them defeat the machine. And this, apparently, was arranged by architects and prophets.
Soon after the protagonist is found, his superpowers will awaken - this is also the moment when the code on his body is activated and he begins his mission. In the interaction of other illegal programs, such as the Frenchman, the Albino Brothers, and Agent Smith, the code of the illegal program on his own body will also evolve, and eventually evolve into a collection of illegal programs. In other words, through interaction with bugs, the savior himself will eventually become the king of bugs.
Later, under the guidance of the Prophet, the protagonist leads the hackers to the source of Matrix's code, where the protagonist meets the architect. After being told the truth, the Savior had to return to the source of the code with the illegal code on his body, follow the architect's arrangement, and integrate the illegal program on his own into the Matrix's code base.
This code base is equivalent to a virus database that collects virus code and writes it to the firewall. Once completed, Matrix will upgrade the overload on this basis, and the reloaded Matrix code source has already built in the previous version of the virus database, so the original illegal programs can be restricted by the new generation of Matrix. Therefore, the real mission of the savior, that is, the protagonist, is not to lead humans against machines, but to upgrade the virus database for Matrix, or to help debug the Matrix system.
Hearing this, Andy Wachowski, one of the Wachowski brothers, wondered: "The protagonist should have a choice, choose to help architects or humans." Hearing this, Larry Wachowski nodded: "The identity of the protagonist is arranged to be the savior of mankind, emotionally speaking, he should be able to help mankind, which conflicts with the setting?"
"No, I can't. ”
Shao Gong shook his head: "This is exactly the insidious part of the architect's design of the protagonist's identity as the savior of the Resistance, because although the savior is a combination of human beings and programs, his position is to defend humans against machines after all. Therefore, the architect can use the "destruction of all mankind" to blackmail the savior. The third Matrix Revolution Architect will do just that, and when the protagonist of the second part meets with the Architect, in the real world, the machine army will also destroy Zion in an orderly manner according to the architect's plan. As long as the protagonist does not follow the architect, he will casually destroy the hackers awakened in Zion, which is the savior, that is, the tragic fate of the protagonist. After completing the task of "upgrading the virus library", the Savior was given his second task: to select 23 men and women from the Matrix to rebuild the destroyed Zion.
After completing this task, the protagonist retires. The legend that there was once a messiah, was handed down in the New Zion. In this way, the 1% of the new generation of Matrix who are naturally rebellious will still have a Zion to go to after awakening. Then, perhaps after several generations, the descendants of these 23 men will be guided by the prophet to find a new generation of saviors. It's an infinite loop of tragic process
The cycle will not end until the moment when man and machine are completely compatible and can no longer distinguish each other.
Therefore, the Matrix trilogy I created is only the beginning of the revolution between man and machine, and it will be a very tiring process to continue to create the story after that, and the story concept I want to express is the Matrix trilogy, as for whether humans and machines can be integrated, leave a suspense in the film. I believe that this is the most classic, forcibly creating and filming The Matrix four, five or six, forcibly drawing a successful end to this story, and falling into the creation of a success, so that there is no difference from ordinary science fiction movies, so that the sequel to the film made in order to fill the hole and draw an end will hit the street. ”
Hearing this, Andy nodded: "OK, I understand, and it can also be seen from this that "Savior" is actually an overall solution that kills two birds with one stone. Through the Savior, two of the Matrix's two major bugs, the rebellious human rebels and the unwanted illegal program, are contained and cleaned up, thus providing time for the birth of a perfect world. ”
"It is precisely because of the fate of the previous generations of saviors that it is the architects of compromise for the sake of a perfect world, that this continues to the protagonist of our story, Neo, the sixth generation of saviors. ”
Larry also nodded: "So in the setting of the boss, the prophet seems to be sentient for the sake of humanity, but in fact she is ruthless, and she adopts those new species that are illegal and integrated with humans, just to study them, so as to provide more data for the birth of a perfect world." Speaking of this, he continued to shake his head and said: "But I don't understand the setting of the boss in this way, because the prophet and the building are as cold and ruthless, if you do the game together, how can the villain of Agent Smith explain?"
"You will never understand my premise until the end of my thoughts, who said that the Prophet must be ruthless, after all, she already has feelings, and it is no longer a cold supreme procedure.
Shao Gong smiled: "What's more, she also began to pity those humans who were cursed by the tragic fate of the infinite loop. So, the Prophet started to have a plan, she wanted a way to end the Matrix upgrade in this generation, so I asked you to use a man-woman dialogue to foreshadow the film before the film starts: Man, why did you change the setting, and Woman, it's nothing, just a little experiment about human feelings for the sake of perfection...... In this way, it can lay the groundwork for the next two sequels.
This would explain why the Prophet modified part of the main character's program to make him fall in love with the heroine, the hacker Trinity. Of course, the true intent of this change was not to be discerned by the architect, so the Prophet told the architect that she was just going to do a little experiment on human feelings. The architect originally wanted to make the machine and the human become one, so he was very interested in this modification of the protagonist, and this is the second time that the architect said to Neo after meeting the protagonist: It's interesting to watch your reaction. For he also wanted to know if this experiment of the prophet on the Messiah had produced objective data for the perfect world.
Of course, it is not only the architect who is interested in the protagonist, but the prophet will also pay special attention to the savior of this generation, because she just wants the savior of this generation Neo to choose not to enter the source of code after meeting the architect, and the prophet expects that the architect will underestimate the power of human feelings, and thinks that the savior will still choose to enter the source of code after seeing him. However, the savior who has a sweetheart may give up entering the source of the code in order to save his sweetheart, this is the purpose of the heroine's existence, which sounds a bit sad, but it is reasonable.
But this is also a bet of the Prophet, and the winning percentage is unknown. Therefore, in order to increase the win rate, the Prophet will secretly give him hints in the second part without the Architect. So at the end of Part 2, the Prophet's plan succeeded, and Neo disobeyed the architect in order to save Trinity and didn't enter the source of the code. This also poses a threat to the collapse of the Matrix, as it is only when the Matrix collapses that the captive humans will wake up in large numbers. But it is not enough for the Prophet to just do this, because the total liberation of humanity will also lead to an all-out war between machines and humans, and in order for humanity to win, the Prophet needs a bargaining chip, a chip specifically for machines, and this is Agent Smith. That's why the Prophet mentions Smith as the opposite of the messianic program in his dialogue with the protagonist.
Under the watchful eye of the architect, this procedure should have been rewritten by the Prophet. According to the architect, the Prophet program is to be checked regularly, otherwise it will compromise the system, which indicates that the Prophet's authority in the Matrix is quite high, almost equal to that of the Architect, and the Architect can monitor the Prophet, but cannot eliminate the program that is second only to himself. As such, Agent Smith is a sort of mirror image of the savior created by the powerful prophet. So back when Smith was a legal procedural, he strongly displayed the "temperament" of an illegal procedural - when interrogating Morpheus, he wanted to break away from the Matrix stronger than Neo.
When the Savior's illegal code, the Power Program, was activated, Smith's illegal code was also activated - from the official program that was part of the Matrix Law Enforcement System in Part 1 to the illegal program at large in Part 2. If the Messiah is the final form of the unlawful procedure that the architect can control, then Smith is the ultimate form of the most terrible uncontrollable unlawful procedure that the architect could ever have imagined, because he can assimilate and infect other procedures. Therefore, in the third part, Smith will be so powerful that he threatens the survival of the entire Matrix, so strong that even the architects are powerless against it, so that even if he loses the protagonist's prophet, he is ready to destroy the Matrix, and because Smith's strength is only aimed at the Matrix and the machine, it almost raises the hope of humanity to defeat the machine.
However, in the third part, the protagonist learns about the prophet's plan through the architect, and also knows that he has fallen for the prophet's tricks, and tells the protagonist that the prophet's plan is wrong, because when the architect decided to start the Perfect World project, he had already let the program and humans begin to merge, which the prophet did not know.
So when Smith infected the Matrix and it collapsed, it was when all of humanity died. Since Smith is the opposite of Neo's program, only Neo can destroy Smith with his body's code to ensure that Matri and humans can survive.
But in this way, Neo used the destruction of Smith as a bargaining chip to negotiate with the architect or the machine emperor in exchange for a real peace between humans and machines, and finally the architect agreed, promising that the humans who wanted freedom could wake up, but the illusory humans could continue to stay in the Matrix world and wait for the perfect world to come.
In the end, the protagonist defeats Smith, and the architect meets with the prophet, who says to the prophet at the end of the film, "You're playing a dangerous game." "It is implied that the Prophet played a big, big, big game of chess, risking the destruction of the entire matrix and calculating himself. Force yourself to compromise with the savior and give freedom to humanity enslaved by the Matrix. But before the advent of a perfect world, there can be no peace between humans and machines. Then the prophet will also arrogantly say to the architect: "Her purpose has not been achieved, if there is no peace between humans and machines, then wait until the peace is over, and then play the game." ”
Hearing this, Andy suddenly said: "The previous prophet calculated the architect, and he secretly worked on the same camp. Again, the two programs are completely opposed on the surface, and the follow-up is really not easy to write, and if you don't get it right, in addition to the existing story line, if you don't have a four, the whole context will collapse. The current Matrix trilogy has a clear context, and it will be linked one by one when filmed, unless you watch it in order, you won't be able to understand the entire story line if you watch one less thing. And the setting of the story and the setting of the pros and cons are very good. The entire "The Matrix" series is actually about the implementation process of the prophet's "human salvation plan", although this process and means will be reversed in the end, but from this perspective, if you look at the "Matrix" trilogy, you can basically sort out all the plot logic. ”
Larry also nodded: "The protagonist is equivalent to a mathematical model simulating the residuals generated by the sample, and in the process of fitting, the architect must balance the errors, only then will the matrix not collapse." Therefore, the architect can't count everything about Neo, but he can arrange the fate of Neo, that is, return to the source code by zeroing. In fact, such a setup was successful in the first five generations of the system. Only a small number of people picked by Neo were selected by the machine to pull out of the matrix, allowing them to rebuild Zion, and then continue the cycle to provide ample time for the perfect world to merge.
The prophet exists as a management panel, studying human emotions for many years, and finally arranges a big game of chess. Arranging for the male and female protagonists to fall in love directly caused Neo to be reluctant to return to the source code, which also caused the architect to be unable to delete or fuse illegal code through Neo's code. Then there is the fact that he was deliberately infected by Smith, thus giving Agent Smith the ability to destroy the entire system, although it is to liberate humanity, but it also causes the greatest disaster for machines and humans, and from this point of view, the prophet is more like a madman than an architect. Although humanity was finally freed, Neo was eventually returned to the source code, and everything was fate as the architect had set, and the architect and the prophet would continue to play after the peace was over, whether it was a machine, a human, or a savior, it would be too sad in the future. With the structure of this trilogy, the architect and the prophet will start the fate of reincarnation again, Agent Smith and Neo will return, and Smith, who has assimilated the prophet, can only be dealt with by Neo, Smith's victory represents the defeat of both machines and humans, and Neo's victory represents the continuation of reincarnation, but this reincarnation is delayed. Therefore, if she continues to write follow-up words in addition to these three parts, the Prophet knows that humanity and code have begun to merge, and that the perfect world has begun to implement, and she will definitely organize this integration, and she will definitely continue to arrange a larger game. One side is committed to destroying the peace between man and machine, the other side wants to cling to the smooth advent of the perfect world, and the completely obvious opposition between the architect and the prophet will definitely have a more exciting and grand game, and it is very likely that the identities of the pros and cons will be reversed, and the script will really be written if it is not careful. In my opinion, hackers can only have a trilogy, and if they continue to write it, they will accidentally destroy the classics. ”
Speaking of this, Larry smiled: "I believe that the Matrix trilogy will become a classic in science fiction movies, so I will definitely shoot it with my heart." ”
"Yes, it's going to be a classic. ”
Andy couldn't help nodding his head and said: "As a director, it's a great luck to come across a script that can be called a classic, and the Matrix trilogy is this kind of script." This is the luck of the classic movie, and it is also our luck, so our brothers will definitely shoot it with the greatest sincerity. ”
Seeing that they finally understood their ideas and settings, Shao Gong nodded with satisfaction, and then under Liu Jing's signal, he said goodbye to the two of them and followed her to meet Kevin Wright in another room.
