Chapter 82: The Beginning of Fear
Driven by several events in quick succession, Hogwarts began a strange and oppressive atmosphere at the beginning of the new term.
Evan had a feeling that several people around him were gradually crushing.
The first was Neville, who was completely scared out of his mind by Snape.
In his second Potions class in his third year, he was sentenced to two full months of confinement by Snape for throwing figs into a cauldron without peeling them. But in reality, everyone knows what is going on, and Snape is taking revenge. From there, Neville would involuntarily turn pale and sweat coldly whenever he saw Snape.
Then there was Hagrid, who seemed to have lost confidence.
Now in Conservation of Magical Creatures class, students learn lesson after lesson how to care for the Flober caterpillar: a disgusting worm ten inches long, with a thick, round, dark brown body, and constantly wriggling. The existence of this creature is almost completely meaningless, and they always stay alone and do nothing except eat.
Harry again, who was now increasingly afraid of taking divination lessons.
Professor Trelawney was always staring at him with wide, teary eyes, and ominous prophecies spread almost throughout the school, and whoever spoke to Harry at any time of the day made their voices soft, as if he had been buried in bed.
On top of that, he had to worry about going to Hogsmeade, and Professor McGonagall rejected his application. This means that there is a good chance that he will be the only third-year student to stay on Hogsmeade Visiting Day.
Even more worried than Harry were Colin and Ginny.
They fully believed Professor Trelawney's death prophecy, and in their eyes, Evan and Harry could fall at any moment. As a result, the two of them collected a lot of things that were said to ward off evil spirits and break curses and wanted to give them, most of which were popular items in the castle during the basilisk rage last semester.
As for Hermione, she was also getting more and more neurotic.
This is mainly because she has taken too many classes, and her body and mind have been overloaded for a long time, and she has reached her limit. Evan saw that her bag contained more than ten magic books every day, and he wondered if Hermione would faint if she continued like this.
Finally, there's Ron, who has been suspicious lately.
After several unsuccessful attempts to attack Spotted at Crookshan, he was on his guard against the cat. He showed the blob, who was now skinny and skinny.
In Aiwen's opinion, the reason why Spotted became this way has nothing to do with Crook Mountain.
Peter Pettigrew must know that the real reason why Blake escaped from prison was to seek revenge on him, after all, he betrayed the Potters back then. He was scared, and as Black got closer to Hogwarts, panic began to take over his brain.
He wanted to escape, but he didn't know where to go.
Hogwarts Castle is by far the safest place to be, and there are so many horrible Dementors guarding it outside. It stands to reason that there is no reason for Black to break in, but since the other party is able to escape Azkaban, it seems that it is only a matter of time before they enter Hogwarts.
The mental torment made Peter Pettigrew extremely haggard.
In fact, it's not just a few of them, but Evan has also been very busy during this time.
In addition to preparing newspaper articles, he focused his main efforts on brewing potions, which he had prepared specifically for Peter Pettigrew. A tracking potion he found in Potion of Power, as long as Peter took this potion, within a certain range, he could sense its location with special magic.
That way, you don't have to worry about him becoming a rat and escaping.
Aven's plan was to mix the tracking potion into the rat tonic, believing that Ron would make Madara drink it. The only problem now was that the boiling step was too time-consuming, and although he had made a lot of preparations, he would not be able to finish the potion until Halloween at the earliest.
On Halloween's Eve, Harry pitifully went to take Ron and Hermione to Hogsmeade.
Evan rejected Colin's suggestion to play wizard chess, and ran to the eighth floor of the castle alone, and after seeing that no one was paying attention to him, he quickly walked back and forth in front of a wall three times before entering the Room of Requirement.
The room he had requested was similar to Snape's office, with a long table in the center filled with glasswork of various shapes, two tin crucibles, and a heating device, and cabinets on either side full of potions.
These things were all bought by Evan from Diagon Alley, and since last year, he has been boiling potions here for the potions he needs, reviewing the Potions class in advance, and so on.
After a long period of practice, Aiwen's technique has become very proficient.
He followed the recipe on the "Powerful Elixir" and put the prepared ingredients into the crucible in turn.
After about five hours, he finally finished crafting the tracking potion, which he mixed with the rat tonic he had made, which was a dark red color, exactly the same color as the rat tonic he had seen in the magical creature shop during the holidays. Satisfied, Evan put the potion into the bottle, and when he came out of the Room of Requirement, he found that the Halloween feast had begun, and he hurried into the auditorium.
The auditorium was hung with hundreds of jack-o-lanterns, a swarm of winged bats, and many flaming orange streamers that floated lazily beneath the ceiling like brilliant water snakes.
The food at the banquet was exquisite, and everyone seemed happy.
The tension has been swept away since the beginning of the school year, Harry seems to have forgotten the damn prophecy, Hermione finally stopped thinking about the study matters, and after Evan gave Ron the "mouse tonic", the other party's mood gradually improved, and he no longer worried about the blob thing.
Everything went well, and even Hagrid, who hadn't been seen recently, sat happily in the classroom seat.
The dinner ends with a recreation program provided by the ghosts, who suddenly appear from the walls and tables in a kind of procession, and the ghost of Gryffindor House almost headless Nick succeeds in recreating his beheading.
Everyone felt like they had a great night, but less than ten minutes after the dinner was over, everything turned upside down.
The little joy that had been stored up at the Halloween feast was gone, and the atmosphere of panic was again in the castle.
As the whole thing happened, Aven, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Colin, and Ginny were slowly returning to the Gryffindor Tower along the usual route, and they had asked for almost two portions of every food at the dinner, and their stomachs were very swollen.
When they got to the portrait of the fat woman, they found that the hallway was full of people.
"What's the matter, why don't you go in?" asked Colin, curious.
"Maybe they've forgotten the password!" Ron said with a laugh.
How is this possible, it is impossible for so many people to forget the password, Evan saw Peeves jumping above the heads of the crowd, looking very happy, he suddenly had a bad premonition in his heart, Peeves only showed this expression when he saw the scene of destruction and sorrow, could it be
Before they could squeeze into the crowd, Professor Dumbledore, who had received the news, hurried to the portrait of the fat woman, the students of Gryffindor House were all huddled together to let him pass, and Evan and the others leaned closer together to see what the trouble was.
"Oh my God!" Hermione suddenly exclaimed, grabbing Aven's arm.
In front of them, the portrait of the fat woman was vandalized, small pieces of portrait and canvas were scattered all over the floor, and large pieces of canvas were completely torn from the frame.
"Professor McGonagall, please go to Filch at once, and tell him to look for the fat lady on every painting in the castle. Dumbledore said quickly.
"You're going to be lucky!" Peeves grinned.
"What do you mean by that, Peeves?" Dumbledore asked calmly.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Headmaster!" Peeves' smile faded a little, he didn't dare to laugh at Dumbledore, he adopted a slick tone instead, "She doesn't want to be seen, she's made a mess." I saw her running past the landscape painting on the fifth floor, sir, hiding among the trees, crying and saying something terrible. ”
"Poor thing. Peeves added, but he didn't mean to pity anyone else.
"Did she tell who did it?" asked Dumbledore quietly.
"Oh, that's it, Professor!" Peeves looked as if he was holding a big bomb in his arms, "and she's annoyed that she won't let him in, you know." He's got a bad temper, Sirius Black!"
