Chapter 9: The Duel

Then one day, a notice was posted in the Slytherin common room that Thursday was for flying lessons with Gryffindor. Everyone except Phoenix was very excited, and he really didn't see anything fun about the sport.

Draco began to talk about flying all day long, complaining about the inqualifying of first-year students for the house's Quidditch team, and all sorts of tedious, boastful tales that always ended with him narrowly dodging a Muggle helicopter. Of course, he wasn't the only one, and all the people who came from wizarding families were chattering about Quidditch.

Eden appeared in the auditorium with a burst of flames, and at first many people thought the ceiling was on fire. Then, a large golden-red bird, carrying seven slender packages like a staircase, flew to the Slytherin table. Bacon, eggs, and porridge hit the floor, but no one cared. They just wanted to see what the phoenix looked like, and the Hufflepuff students who were far away even stood at the table.

No one spoke, as if Eden was going to play a trick on them the next moment. It pecked at Phoenix's ear, drank some milk, and vanished into a flame. It was then that everyone came back to their senses and guessed what was in the packages. A few senior Slytherin students unwrap their parcels.

"Hey, Wood, why don't you come and see what we've got?" shouted a tall, sturdy man from Gryffindor's side of a sixth-year Slytherin.

"Wow, the latest Halo 2000. ”

"Phoenix, a gift to the Slytherins. The Slytherin students laughed triumphantly, and Gryffindor rode a broomstick to tatters. The boy named Wood was stunned, and then his face turned like he had broken his leg.

The Slytherin gang rushed to the Quidditch pitch to test fly a new broomstick.

At half past three in the afternoon, Phoenix, Melinda, Draco, and the other Slytherin students arrived at the front of the door. A clear, breezy day is undoubtedly a good day to fly.

"In this weather, it would be nice to find a lake to read. Phoenix lazily complained about the flying lesson.

"Phoenix, have you ever ridden a broomstick?" Harry had always wondered if Phoenix was the only one from a wizarding family who hadn't boasted of riding a broomstick.

"I've ridden it, but I don't like it at all. ”

"Oh, as expected, I'll probably only be better than Neville. Harry sighed, looking at Draco, it was painful enough to think about it.

"Don't worry, they're all. When we fly, we are usually only a dozen meters above the ground. It's even less likely to run into those Muggle stuff. Harry seemed to be in a better mood when he heard this.

Mrs. Hodge had short gray hair and eagle-like yellow eyes.

"Okay, what are you all waiting for?" she snapped, "everyone stands next to a broomstick. Hurry, hurry. ”

"Stretch out your right hand and put it above the broomstick," called Madame Hooch in front, "and say, get up." ”

Phoenix's broomsticks jumped into his hands immediately, but there were only a handful of such obedient brooms, including Draco and Harry.

It has to be said that the clever design of these broomsticks is a means of identifying a wizard's basic talent, and Quidditch can see a person's reflexes. Only some people with a strong enough magical magnetic field can make them obedient.

"I counted, three, two, one, and kicked hard off the ground. ”

No sooner had Mrs. Hodge counted to two than Neville flew up like a cork squirting out of a bottle. Rose almost fifty feet and slid down the side of the broomstick.

Neville's body slammed to the ground.

Madame Hooch went to check on Neville and said, "I'll take this child to the hospital, and none of you will be allowed to move! ”

"I promise to see a good show. Phoenix whispered as he put his arm around Melinda as he saw Draco walking towards Harry.

"Aren't you going to help him, then?" said Melinda, patting him.

"Look at them arguing. ”

The two flew into the air one after the other, and after a brief chase, Draco threw something high into the air before quickly landing on the ground. Harry caught him less than ten meters from the ground, and was then taken away by Professor McGonagall who arrived.

"Great, Potter will definitely be expelled. Draco said happily.

"Trust me, it won't. Phoenix felt that Draco's IQ had plummeted as long as it had to do with Harry, and he actually believed that what Madame Hooch said was true.

At dinner, the news came that Harry had joined the Gryffindor varsity team. Draco angrily took his two henchmen to Gryffindor's long table.

"Wizard duel?" Phoenix asked, a little incredulous.

"That's right, Phoenix, be my assistant. Seeing that he didn't seem to want to agree, he hurriedly whispered and answered. "Please. ”

"Well," Phoenix agreed, in a half-dead tone, agreeing to his offer. "For your sake, you tried to save me that night. ”

He and Draco left the common room at half-past eleven, and the two of them went to the prize room on the third floor. Harry, they hadn't arrived yet, and the crystal glass case of the prizes glistened in the moonlight.

"They haven't come yet. ”

"Maybe he didn't dare to come. Draco said, but his tone was tense.

Phoenix saw a large medal with the words "Tom Marvolo Riddle, Award for Special Contribution to the School, 1943."

After reversing the order of the letters, the word he got was "Lord Voldemort"! He looked at the medal in amazement, and it was hard to imagine that the Dark Lord would contribute to the school in the future. Or a very forbearant person, interesting.

"You're late. Seeing Harry and the others finally arrive, Draco said nervously or impatiently.

"Granger, come and see how the Savior is on his knees begging for mercy?" Draco said in a disdainful tone as he remembered that Phoenix was beside him.

"Good evening, guys, well, let me explain briefly. Phoenix turned to Hermione and said, "One-on-one wizard showdown, Draco Malfoy challenges Harry Potter, assistants Ron Weasley and Phoenix Peverell, and dueling witness Hermione Granger. ”

Hermione was stunned and hurriedly said, "The fat woman went to the door, and I couldn't go back to follow her." ”

"It's okay, everyone who sees it just needs to watch," he said, looking at Ron and Harry's slightly pale faces, probably from the moonlight, "Since they are both underage wizards, if all of them lose their wand or can't cast spells, their assistants can take over and continue the fight, and one assistant can join the battle, and the other side's assistant can also join the duel." You are responsible for any casualties, and you salute each other if you have no problem. ”

Phoenix changed the rules a little here, because he felt that this kind of child's duel was not interesting at all, and it would be better to end it sooner.

Harry and Ron seemed to tremble when they heard Phoenix say that they were dead or wounded, but Harry saw Draco's gaze trying not to show any timid movements.

"No, Phoenix, you-"

"It's tradition. He said nonchalantly, looking at her with tears in his eyes, and answered.

"Don't worry, with their level, they don't even need to enter the school hospital. ”

"Okay, salute each other, Hermione will help us shout three-two-one. ”

Harry and Draco barely nodded, staring at each other intently.

"Three-two-one!"

"Grinning hula!"

"Legs stiffen!" both hit each other at the same time, Harry fell to his knees panting loudly, unable to pronounce a spell, and Draco retreated to the ground with his balance locked and unbalanced.

"Spin somersault!" Ron joins the fray.

"Faint!" Phoenix hit him accurately, and Draco flew up.

"Except for your weapons!" Harry's wand flew out of his hand.

For a moment, no one said anything except Harry's heavy panting.

"Phoenix, win. Hermione spoke in a strange tone, as if between joy and disappointment.

"It's over!" Removing the spell from the two and returning the wand to Harry, Draco began to taunt Harry with impunity, making Harry clench his fists in a tone that had been elected as the supreme ruler of the universe.

Just as he was about to undo Ron's magic, a flash of fire left a golden feather behind.

"Run!" Phoenix grabbed Draco, who was still sneering at Harry, and rushed out of the trophy room. Hermione and Harry looked overwhelmed, but then hurried footsteps told them that someone was coming.

There was a loud and loud sound in the distance, and they could hear it clearly when they ran to the first floor and were already out of breath.

"Filch - they've been discovered. Phoenix said breathlessly.

"This time it will definitely -- get him -- expelled -- from the team. ”

"Glory. "The stone wall opened to give them access to the common room.

The two of them sat by the warm fire, and Phoenix felt that Draco's teeth were about to burst.
