Chapter Twenty-Four: The Parseltongue
"One, two, three. ”
Phoenix preemptively shouted: "Oolong out of the hole." ”
The head of his wand exploded. I saw a long, colorful poisonous snake suddenly burst out of it, landed heavily on the floor between them, and then raised its head and prepared to attack. The crowd screamed and quickly dodged back.
Harry didn't retreat, and then he hissed at the snake in a low voice, "Go away!" The serpent hissed obediently and swam straight towards Justin Fenri, its head raised, its fangs bared, and an offensive stance.
How could Harry be a parseltongue, but Phoenix didn't have time to think about it for a while. The Parseltongue has a strong control over snakes, and what he just said is really not safe enough. He makes the snake go away instead of stopping, which means it's likely to attack someone else.
Phoenix hissed as well, and the snake sped away from the pale-faced Fenrieri. Then Phoenix waved his wand, and it turned into a puff of black smoke and vanished. The crowd whispered ominously, and both Phoenix and Snape looked at Harry with a look of surprise. Ron and Hermione pulled him out of the auditorium.
Ron led him out of the auditorium, and Hermione hurried beside them. When they went out, the people backed off to both sides, as if they were afraid of getting into trouble. Harry didn't understand what was going on, and Ron and Hermione didn't explain anything, just dragged him all the way to the empty Gryffindor common room. Then, Ron pushed Harry into an armchair and said, "You're a parseltongue. Why don't you tell us?"
"What am I?" Harry asked.
"Parseltongue!" Ron said, "You're going to talk to snakes!"
"This is the second time I've done this. Once, in the zoo, I accidentally released a python, and the python pounced on my cousin Dudley - a long story, when the python told me that it had never been to Brazil, and I unknowingly released it, I didn't mean to. I didn't know I was a wizard—"
"A python told you that it never went to Brazil?" Ron asked in a weak voice.
"What's the matter?" said Holly, "Phoenix can talk to snakes, can? ”
"Oh, they can't do that," said Hermione, "I mean, the Parseltongues of the Peverells are famous, and that's why he's always looked down on him. It's not an ordinary skill. Harry, this sucks. ”
"What's bad?" Harry asked, beginning to feel anger in his heart. "Listen, I just want to keep that snake away from me. ”
"Oh, that's what you said to it?"
"What do you mean? You were there. You heard me. ”
"I hear you speak in a parseltongue," Ron said, "the language of snakes." From our perspective, it seems like you let that snake attack Justin, and then Phoenix lets that snake let go of him and comes back. ”
"He told the snake to let go of Justin, I didn't think of it - I just wanted the snake to stay away from me. I didn't expect it to run to Justin somewhere. Both Ron and Hermione looked heavy, as if someone had died. Harry didn't understand what was so scary.
Hermione finally lowered her voice and spoke, "Being able to talk to snakes is Salazar Slytherin's famous skill. So, the symbol of the Slytherin school is a snake. Harry's mouth widened.
"Exactly," Ron said, "now the whole school will think you're his great-great-great-great-great-grandchild or something—"
"But I'm not. Harry said. He had a panic that he couldn't explain.
"You'll find it hard to prove," Hermione said, "that he lived about a thousand years ago, and from all that we know, you're probably his heir." I checked that the Peverell family had settled in Germany a long time ago. At the time, I don't think the Big Four were born yet, but he may have been closely related to Slytherin, but we all know what he is. So you're a Slytherin descendant and it's sure to be the consensus of everyone. ”
The atmosphere in the Slytherin common room is oppressive, with the occasional whisper between a few people not being heard. Harry Potter was a parseltongue, which made Slytherins feel ashamed, horrified, and even a little excited.
"You said the Potter family, would there be distant relatives with your family?" Draco finally asked the question that the others wanted to ask but didn't dare to ask.
"I'm afraid not, the Parseltongue is indeed obtained through blood. But—" Phoenix paused, looking at the dancing flames in the fireplace, "there are many ways to acquire this rare ability, and I don't know how he got it. ”
"Could he be—" Nott asked, in a lower tone than Draco's.
"Could it be a Slytherin descendant? No, I'm sure of that. The last Slytherin descendants became extinct at the beginning of the century. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they heard this, it would be a shame if the descendants of Slytherin were in Gryffindor House.
Communication within Slytherin is unknown to outsiders. The next day in the library, Phoenix met a group of students in the library discussing yesterday's dueling club.
"So, anyway," said a tall boy, "my name is Justin hiding in our dormitory. I mean, if Potter is determined to kill him, he'd better go into hiding for a while. Of course, Justin had expected this to happen ever since he accidentally slipped out to Potter that he was a natural Muggle. Justin even told Potter that he had attended Eton College. For Slytherin descendants, you can't just say that, can you?"
Hearing this, everyone began to talk in whispers. There were also many who suspected Phoenix, but Harry had overwhelming support, with only a few Muggle-born wizards believing that he was also likely a descendant of Slytherin.
Ernie continued, "Remember what was written on the wall?" Those who are enemies of the heirs, be wary. Potter and Filch got into a fight, and soon we learn that Filch's cat had been killed. Creevey, a first-year student, annoyed Potter during a Quidditch match and photographed him while he was lying in the mud. We then learned that Creevey had also been killed. ”
"He always seemed so friendly, though. Hannah hesitated, "And—by the way, he was the one who made the mysterious man disappear." He can't be that bad, right?"
"You'd better have actual evidence and speculate. Phoenix felt that their speculation and so-called doubts were meaningless, and the students around him dared to be angry and did not dare to speak, and Phoenix's strength in the dueling club had been recognized by the whole school.
"What about you, Phoenix, you must have an idea. Melinda was the least serious in this serious discussion circle. It's entirely because Phoenix is here that she's participating.
"I still need some evidence to support my idea. I'll go to Professor Dumbledore then. Phoenix got up and pulled Melinda towards the forbidden book section in the back.
"Anyway, how did you get the note in the forbidden book section, Professor Flitwick signed it for you?"
"Well, I'd like to learn about some potions, so I'm looking for the note Professor Snape signed for me. Melinda stopped suddenly, her eyes fixed on the floor.
"How-"
"You already know, what's in the secret room, right? Why don't you tell me. ”
"Why do you think that?" said Phoenix, a little overwhelmed, staring at a copy of Poison on the shelf.
"A woman's intuition. Melinda suddenly smiled mischievously, enlivening the otherwise frozen atmosphere.
"You're not a woman yet, you're just a girl. "After saying Phoenix, I regretted it, this sentence is a bit frivolous.
The girl closed her eyes, her hand still firmly grasping Phoenix's hand, and her slightly raised face waited quietly.
At this point, Phoenix knows what to do if it's stupid. The two hugged and kissed in the warm library, and Phoenix could smell the faint fragrance emanating from Melinda's body, which made people feel very comfortable, and it looked very warm with the flying snow outside the window.
"Let's do it! Let's do it! Let's do it again! No one will be spared! Run for your life! Do it!" Piercing screams shattered the wonderful picture.
