Chapter 20: A Mysterious Attack
A wet chill permeated the grounds and seeped into the castle. A sudden flu arose among the faculty and students, and the head nurse, Madame Ponferre, was in a hurry. Her pick-me-up had an immediate effect, but those who drank it would smoke in their ears for hours on end. Both Brace and Nott drank some to make them look like people who would catch fire at any moment.
Draco took the team seriously every time, and for the first time Phoenix saw him, he laughed at Harry for being so concerned about one thing.
Halloween arrived, the auditorium was decorated with live bats, and Hagrid's huge pumpkins were carved into lanterns large enough to fit three people inside. It was also rumored that Dumbledore had booked a skeleton dance troupe to entertain everyone.
When it came to the evening, many people were disappointed to find that this year's show was the same as in previous years. Everyone can only launch a fierce attack on food.
When everyone left the auditorium and returned to the common room, the loud chatter and laughter in front of them suddenly came to an abrupt end. The lively and chirping crowd was suddenly quiet.
"What's going on?" Phoenix, with the help of his Slytherin classmates, stepped to the front of the group.
Look at the writing on the wall: the Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Those who are enemies of the heirs, be wary.
Lady Loris's tail hung from the torch, her body stiff like a plank, and her eyes were wide open and staring. The silence was broken by loud words.
"Enemy of the heir, be on the lookout! Next is you, Potter. Draco's face flushed with excitement as he looked at the still, stiff cat hanging there.
"Go to Professor Dumbledore. Phoenix said to a senior next to him, struggling to push back.
"What's going on here, what's going on?" Filch was the first to arrive. Then he saw Lady Loris, who stumbled back a few steps and grabbed his face with his hand in horror.
"My cat. What's wrong with Lady Loris?" he screamed.
It was, his bulging eyes saw Harry.
"You!" he screamed, "you! you killed my cat! I'm going to kill you, I'm going toβ"
"Filch. β
Dumbledore arrived on the scene, followed by many other teachers. In the blink of an eye, he walked past Harry and the others and untied Lady Loris from the torch.
"Come with me, Filch. He said to Filch, "And you, Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, Miss Granger. β
Lockhart stepped forward. "My office is closest to here, and the headmaster is upstairs, you canβ"
"Thank you, Gildero. Dumbledore said.
The silent crowd parted to both sides and let them pass. Lockhart was very excited, and he hurried after Dumbledore, followed by McGonagall and Professor Snape.
"Okay, don't look at it, let's go back to our common room. I'm sorry - I'm a prefect. "No one listened to the Gryffindor prefect's shouts, and everyone wanted to see the writing on the wall.
It wasn't until Phoenix turned around and left with the Slytherins that the crowd began to flow.
Back in the common room, Phoenix sat in one of the most comfortable chairs by the fire, his feet resting on a soft ottoman. If it weren't for the rhythmic tapping of his fingers, everyone would have thought he was asleep.
When the Chamber of Secrets and the Heir was in his first year, he had heard from a few of the seniors. Slytherin had secretly built a secret chamber and hid a monster in it, and when his heir would one day return to the school, he would open it and purge those who were not worthy of studying magic, i.e., Muggle-borns.
The secret room, perhaps his own "Secret Events and Magic in the Wizarding World" can answer this question, the secret legends of the ancient times are the most recorded in this book, but it is different from other recorded books. The content of the record is narrated by the person concerned or someone who knows the inside story himself, and I have to say that the author of this book is very remarkable.
"That heir must be a Slytherin, I don't know who he is?" Draco said excitedly, "I can help him." β
"How can you help, give him information about those Mudbloods?" Nott shook his head, rather dismissive of Draco's claims.
"What are you thinking?"
Melinda pulled him out of his train of thought, "Magical creatures that are too strong are hard to control, and too weak are not effective. It is unlikely that the monster was placed to clean up the mudbloods, and the strong magical creatures would also be caught. β
"I'll go back and check the information, and now it's empty talk. β
Everyone went back to their dorms, and Phoenix began to concentrate, looking for words about the Hogwarts Chamber in the vast text.
In Hogwarts: The Big Four, he found text about the Chamber of Secrets. This is an intriguing quote from an early Hogwarts student.
For the next few days, the students talked about the attack on Mrs. Loris, instead of talking about anything else. Filch's performance is a constant reminder: he often paced around the place where Mrs. Loris had been killed, as if he thought the attacker would come again. He scrubbed the writing on the wall with the "Mrs. Skoll Brand All-purpose Miracle Stain Remover", but in vain, the words still shimmered so brightly on the stone wall. If Filch is no longer patrolling crime scenes, he will stare at two red eyes, sneak up in the hallway, and then suddenly pounce on the unsuspecting students, trying to find an excuse to keep them confined, such as their "panting too loudly" or "hippie smiley".
Hogwarts, A History of the School in the school library has also become extremely popular, with Draco saying that the queue for those who have registered to borrow has been in the queue for two weeks.
"Draco, Nott, Blaise, I want you to write home about the Chamber of Secrets. "Phoenix stopped three of his friends before he went into the history of magic.
"Okay. Do you have any clues?" Draco was a little excited, Phoenix had been looking up information since the attack, but hadn't told them a word about it.
"I'll talk about it when I've read your dad's reply. β
The class bell rang. The three of them followed Phoenix towards the history of magic class.
The history of magic is the most boring of all Hogwarts courses. Of all their teachers, only Professor Binns, who taught the subject, was a ghost. Legend has it that when he was alive, he got up one day to go to class and accidentally left his body in an armchair in front of the stove in the faculty lounge. Since then, all his daily activities have continued without the slightest change.
Today, the classroom is still as boring as usual. Professor Binns opened his notebook and read it in a dry, low, monotone voice, and the class was groggy, occasionally coming back to their senses, copying names and dates, and then falling back into a half-sleep. Phoenix wasn't in that state, he was thinking about the Chamber of Secrets.
Half an hour later, he said, something happened that had never happened before. Hermione held her hand up.
