Chapter 138: An Unpleasant Lunch
Evan, Harry, and Hermione left the hospital and when they arrived in the hall of the auditorium, they found that the long tables used by the four houses had been moved to the wall, and there was only a square table in the center of the room that could accommodate twenty people.
Evan didn't see Dumbledore, his place was empty.
In addition to him, Professor McGonagall, Snape, Professor Flitwick, and Hagrid were all there, as was Filch, the janitor.
Filch had stripped off his usual brown coat and was wearing an old and rather outdated tuxedo. Next to Professor Flitwick were two extremely nervous first-year students, both from Ravenclaw House, and to Snape's left, a gloomy sixth year Slytherin from Slytherin.
And Ron, who sat alone at the very end of the table, and no one wanted to go near him.
Harry hesitated for a moment and walked over to Ron, his face full of concern.
Evan hurriedly grabbed Harry, he couldn't just get over like that. Because of what happened to Professor Lupin last night, Harry's normal reaction now should be to hate Ron.
If you approach rashly, it is easy to startle the snake.
Peter Pettigrew is a cunning opponent and has to be careful.
The three of them looked at each other, away from Ron, and sat down next to each other against Hagrid.
Aside from the strange smile that hung on Snape's lips all the time, the atmosphere at the table was very low and oppressive, and there was no cheerful atmosphere at all about the coming of Christmas, everyone was eating lunch in silence, and no one spoke.
"Evan and Hermione, how are you two?" Hagrid asked with a grim face.
"Don't worry, Madam Pomfrey said we don't have any problems, we just need to" Before Evan could finish his words, he saw three owls fly into the Great Hall.
With three red envelopes in their mouths, they flew straight into Dumbledore's empty space.
"That's enough, it's these howling letters again, they've been ringing all morning!"
Professor McGonagall stood up, looking furiously at the three roaring letters thrown by the owl on the table, the corners of which were burning.
She pulled out her wand and waved it at the Howler Letter.
Three blue flames burst out from the red envelope, which was slowly burning, and in the blink of an eye, the envelope turned to ashes without a sound at all.
"Unbelievable, unbelievable!" Professor Flitwick said in a high-pitched voice, uneasy, "Are these people crazy?! They actually sent Dumbledore howling letters, I haven't seen anything so crazy in years." ”
"Stupid owls, and equally stupid howling letters!" Snape sneered.
"I noticed that these yelling letters were all from the students of your house, Severus?!" Professor McGonagall said, pursing her lips.
"Thanks for reminding you, I didn't notice that before!" a grim smile tugged at the corner of Snape's mouth, "but I can understand why parents are doing this." In my opinion, the principal's approach is indeed inappropriate, who would have thought that the school professor would be a werewolf? Who would have thought that this tamed werewolf would attack his own students? With this lesson, I believe that the principal will be very, very careful when hiring people in the future!"
"Professor Lupin is innocent!" Harry shouted angrily as he looked at Snape angrily, "He didn't hurt anyone, he"
"Quiet, Potter!Gryffindor deducts five points!" Snape turned to look at Harry and sneered, "I don't want to know what your relationship is with that werewolf, but I have to warn you, be careful with the tone of your voice, and don't yell at me like an unbred werewolf cub!"
Harry sat down in a huff, forcing himself not to look at Snape.
"Don't worry, Harry, with Dumbledore here, Professor Lupin will be fine. Hagrid whispered reassurance, looking a little lacking in confidence, "It's terrible, I can't remember how many of these three owls are today, and they're flying in a steady stream with roaring letters." ”
"All morning?" said Aven in surprise.
"That's right, you and Hermione didn't come to breakfast, you didn't see that scene, and in front of everyone in the school, more than four hundred yelling letters exploded at the same time!"
"I told them that!" Harry asked feebly, "Hagrid, is there any news from Dumbledore or Professor Lupin?"
"There is indeed bad news. Hagrid hesitated, "I just heard that the ministry is going to imprison Professor Lupin directly in Azkaban!"
"There hasn't been a trial yet, how can they do that!" Harry glanced at Ron, his gaze quickly shifted back, and he lowered his voice and said, "Ron's accusations are obviously ridiculous, and Professor Lupin will be proven innocent." ”
"I know, it's all Lucius Malfoy's behind!" Hagrid replied angrily, "It's not that I don't believe Lupin, but if it were me, I'd rather die than be imprisoned in Azkaban again." ”
"Is it scary there, Hagrid?" asked Hermione cautiously.
"You can't imagine that I spent a few days there fifty years ago when I was wrongfully controlled by a monster in the vault who killed a student. Hagrid said calmly, "It didn't look like there, and I thought I was going crazy." I always think about terrible things, the day I was expelled from Hogwarts, the day my father died."
"Is it because of the Dementors?!"
"Yes, you've all seen these monsters this year, but you're probably not seeing a thousand Dementors together, that terrifying feeling" Hagrid closed his eyes, painful memories on his face, "Azkaban Prison is built on a deserted island far from the coastline, and that island is full of Dementors. Just stay there, and after a while you won't know who you are, and you won't know what it's meant to be alive. I remember wishing I was going to die in my sleep, and when they let me out, I felt like I was alive again, and I remembered everything, and it was the most wonderful feeling in the world. Remember, the Dementors won't let me go. ”
"But you're not guilty?!" Hermione said.
"Charges?!" Hagrid snorted angrily, "do you think they value this? They don't care, they've got five hundred or so people with them, they're able to drain the pleasure of these people completely, they don't care who is guilty and who isn't." ”
Hearing Hagrid's words, Harry felt his stomach turn into water, and his blood instantly became cold.
"Don't worry!" Seeing Harry and Hermione's faces, Evan hurriedly said, "Professor Lupin won't be imprisoned in Azkaban, as long as tonight passes, we can prove his innocence." ”
Harry didn't speak, he was still thinking about Azkaban.
It occurred to him that Sirius Black had been locked up there for twelve years, and that it must have been a very bad feeling.
