Chapter 67: The Holy Church
Pull out the tower in the center of the city, and there will be nothing left to stop the Luo Lian army. Heavy firepower platforms, medium combat mechs, tactical fighters...... With the AAX vehicle system running rampant across the city, the unstoppable ATEF leads his fellow soldiers from the rest of the army to roar through the streets.
Brutal cheers leaped over the dead bodies in the square, pulled down the flags on the three flagpoles, and hung the Roxat symbol high in the air, dancing with the smoke of gunpowder.
On College Street, Frost joins this final parade and sweeps away the remnants of the Southern Union. They had basically won, and Sydney was clutched in the palm of their hands, and the rest of it could not be called a battle.
No orders, no sympathy, no mercy, unilateral slaughter. Those who resisted desperately, they died at least with dignity, and those who tried to surrender, ended up in the pit.
AAX-07's cannon fire slammed into the building, punching it into the concrete, and the shattered foundation of the building collapsed and fell into ruins. The soldiers of the Southern Union used the buildings on both sides to make a final struggle, and the soldiers of the Luo Lian did not even need any cover, relying only on their bodies and shouts to charge into battle, pulling the trigger to shoot all the bullets of the guns in their hands.
The most conspicuous of this craze, and the initiator of everyone's anger, is Yunakin Chokov.
"They're at the end of their power! We must put an end to them!"
A slogan, a burst of laughter, will be echoed by hundreds of compatriots. Like hungry wolves thirsting for flesh and blood, they rushed to the enemy's position, and even when they were beaten to the ground, they had to advance and die.
Frost was involved, but he couldn't fit in, he didn't understand this irrational behavior. Many of the older people in the ranks are also in this roaring queue, and if the young people are ignorant and full of enthusiasm, then what is it that supports the "veterans"?
He had no choice but to be at the back of the team and sweep away the remnants of the enemy's defeated army. More than once Frost saw his compatriots killed, and only then did he have a chance to raise his gun and shoot his target, and the fallen Luo Lian soldier crawled forward unwillingly, dragging a trail of blood on the ground, and did not move completely until he lost his breath.
Those who stand in their way will die in fear.
Frost still walked at his own pace, looking for cover and walking through step by step, raising his gun to kill those who threatened him. He was much more effective than his fellow citizens who were blindly venting their anger, and although he was not in the front of the line, he killed many enemies.
He looked at Yunakin, who chattered and encouraged the troops forward, and no fewer were killed. He stepped over the corpses that had died because of him, his face excited, without guilt or too much joy.
The heavy machine guns erected by the enemy in front began to spit tongues of fire, strafing the Luo Lian soldiers who rushed out, and the corpses were scattered all over the ground. Frost hid behind cover in time and was not hit by a machine gun. The heavy machine gun was covered on all sides, and a bulletproof insert was erected on the front, which could not be solved with a gun alone.
"Stop, my fellow citizens!" shouted Yunakin, "the way forward will open, wait a moment!"
Frost saw the friendly logo on the head-up monitor approaching at high speed, and he naturally understood that it was Wendy flying an AAX-08 fighter to come to support, and Unakin certainly knew it. It's like a play he directed and acted in, and the corrupt religion deceives the common people with its despicable tricks, which make people dare not compliment.
The heavy machine guns and everything in the vicinity were incinerated by the dropped bombs, and Wendy's air raid washed half of the street and burned like hell on earth.
They rushed into the building, pulled out the enemy soldiers who were hiding one by one, and killed them without hesitation. Their exchange was filled with bloody laughter and angry quick talk, arguing over a human life. The enemy fled back, and they chased after them, killing without stopping.
The large force pursued to the junction of College Street and another street, where the remaining troops of the Southern Union gathered at St. Mary's Cathedral to resist the army of the Romans. The church was not small, and the width of the left and right sides looked like a rampart when viewed from the front, and hiding in it to defend it did make Luo Lian's troops stop their progress and continue to advance.
The enemy is fighting to the death. Frost thought, looking around, the army of the Luo Lian surrounded this place.
"Those who take refuge in the Antarctic still want to be protected by God!" shouted Yunakin, "and we will tell them that God does not want to forsake them!"
The troops charged the church and engaged the defenders on the periphery, there was no order on either side, and the battlefield was chaotic, just allowing everyone to kill and kill each other.
Frost aimed his gun at the glass window of the church, pulled the trigger and killed the enemy at the window, and then pounced on a statue, where the sniper shot off an edge of the statue's pedestal. There are corpses strewn all over the front of the church, and Frost is thinking about how to deal with the sniper, when a missile hits the church. Even the side doors were blown open by the explosion, and all the glass windows inside, including the stained glass artwork, would quickly shatter in the flames of the war.
The heavy air raids left the church's defenses with huge holes that were clearly irreparable, and the soldiers who survived the bombardment had no time to regain their strength.
"It's time, my friends!" Yunakin climbed the statue and pointed to the church, "Let's rush in, kill everyone, and clean this church!"
The cries of the troops became more intense, and they poured into the church, and the defenders of the Southern Union were crushed and could not resist at all. Frost raised his gun and aimed at those who were too suppressed by the fire to move, vigilantly watching for enemies hiding relatively hidden. He slipped diagonally between the church benches and used this as a cover to kill a dozen Southern Union soldiers in one row.
They quickly squeezed into the middle, and the church hall was under siege in three directions, and the three machine guns deployed were struggling to get bullets into the body of the Luo Lian sergeant.
Frost hurriedly lay down and threw smoke bombs forward, using the cover of smoke to crawl forward. He could feel blood and bullet casings falling on him, and threw a grenade in the direction of the heavy machine gun, destroying it. The main entrance of the cathedral, the two side entrances, were broken through by the Luo Lian army, and only the last few Southern Union soldiers remained. The YUFE soldiers laid down their arms and raised their hands as a sign of their surrender.
No one in the Luo Lian forces decided, and only Yunakin walked up the stairs alone.
"Surrender, are you too embarrassed to beg God to save you?" he said, "this is your retribution! We will not forgive you, and you will have to pay the full amount of your blood debt!"
Yunakin took out his pistol, put on the safe, pointed it at the heads of the surrendered enemies, and killed them one after another. No matter how much he pleaded, his hard-hearted heart would not listen, and he was publicly executed in front of many of his compatriots.
The last man fell bleeding, and Yunakin raised his fist.
"For Roxatism! For our common homeland!"
The frenzied cry echoed in Frost's mind for a long, long time.
