Chapter 17: Strange Textbooks

"A thousand Galleons!"

"Oh my God!"

The classroom was bustling with activity, and although some were still a little skeptical about the efficacy of Professor Slughorn's words, Silver's words of a thousand Galleons were real.

"Hey, Jack." Teri. Bout said to Silver. "If I get the elixir in a moment, will you pay a thousand Galleons for it?"

"Of course, if you can get it." Silver said.

"I must remind you that elixirs are forbidden to be used in organized competitions - such as athletic competitions, exams, or campaigns. Therefore, those who get the prize can only use it on ordinary days. Then wait and see how unusual that ordinary day will become! And, Jack, since you know that the Elixir is forbidden to be bought and sold, you shouldn't have said that in front of me. Slughorn said with a smile.

"So," said Slughorn, who suddenly became energetic, "how can I win this wonderful prize of great value?" Okay, please turn to page 10 of "Advanced Potions System". We still have more than an hour, and you can use this time to make a good potion of living hell. I know it's more complicated than anything you've ever done before, and I don't expect anyone to make a perfect potion. However, the one who does the best will win the vial. Alright, let's get started! ”

There was only a cacophony of scraping, and everyone pulled the crucible in front of them, and then the sound of clanging the weights on the scales, but no one spoke.

Everyone was frantically flipping through their own book of "Advanced Potions System". Harry was no exception, and he quickly looked down at the tattered textbook that Slughorn had lent him.

To his annoyance, the tenth page of the book was blank, and he flipped through the contents before and after and found that the book was blank. When he was about to raise his hand and ask Slughorn to change the book, it was as if an invisible hand was writing on it, and the book showed the complete process of making the living hell potion. Harry's face turned white - he remembered the strange diary he had from his second year.

Harry drew his wand and pointed at the book "Advanced Potions", and two more lines appeared on it.

"I have no ill intentions. You're going to need my help. ”

"So, what are you waiting for? If you drag it out, you won't have time to finish the Living Hell Potion. ”

Harry's heart was pounding, he didn't know what to do now.

"You're not going to be a coward, are you? Don't you dare to try? This is a real disappointment for me. Another line appears in the book.

Harry gritted his teeth and decided to see what the weird book was up to, everyone else was busy with it, and Slughorn was whispering to Silver and Hermione at their table, and no one noticed Harry's strangeness. Harry hurried to the locker, looking for the ingredients written in the book.

Ten minutes later, the entire classroom was filled with a pale blue vapor. Needless to say, it seems that the fastest progress is still made by Silver and Hermione. Harry heard Slughorn admiring their progress so far.

Harry finished cutting the valerian root as the book says. The next step was to get the juice from the Sleepy Bean, but Harry found it very difficult to cut, so he looked down at the textbook, where a line of bold red text appeared.

"It's easier to juice the sleepy beans by squeezing them with the side of a silver short knife."

"Sir, I think you must know my grandfather Abraxas. Malfoy, right? ”

Harry looked up to see Slughorn walking past the Slytherin table.

"Yes," Slughorn said, not looking at Malfoy, "I heard he's dead." I'm sad, but that's to be expected, and I'm sick of dragon plague syphilis at that age......"

With that, he walked away. Harry gloated and grinned, burying his head in his crucible. He could see it. Slughorn did have a big opinion of Malfoy.

Harry found the Sleepy Beans difficult to cut. He turned to Ernie. Macmillan.

"Can I borrow your silver knife to use it?"

Ernie. McMillan nodded impatiently, his eyes not taking off his potion for a moment. Now the liquid in his crucible smelled of rotten eggs, much to Ernie's annoyance.

Ha squeezed the sleepy beans with the side of the short knife. Unexpectedly, a large amount of juice immediately oozed out of the beans. Harry couldn't believe there was so much water in that shriveled bean. He quickly put the juice into his cauldron, and the potion immediately turned pale blue, and Harry excused himself with graffiti that his books were not read. Pulled up Ron's textbook and looked at itβ€”it was exactly the same as it was written.

Harry's doubts about the book were mostly dispelled, and he squinted as he read the next note. Another paragraph in bold red appears on the book.

"Stir counterclockwise seven times, then stir clockwise again until the color is clear."

Harry glanced at Ron's textbook, which said that it should be stirred counterclockwise until the color was clear.

Harry held his breath and stirred seven times counterclockwise, then a little more clockwise. The effect was immediate, and the potion immediately turned a faint pink color.

"How did you do that?" Ron noticed Harry's anomaly, and the potion in his cauldron looked like a thin licorice candy, giving off an unpleasant smell of leather.

Harry shrugged his shoulders, "That's what the book says." ”

"Hell." Ron cursed, "I did what was written in the book, too." ”

"Okay, time...... Arrive! Slughorn exclaimed, "Please stop stirring!" ”

Slughorn walked slowly between the tables, taking turns checking each cauldron. He didn't make any comments, except to stir it once in a while, or lean in and sniff it. He stopped at Silver and Hermione's table and praised Silver and Hermione's work.

"It's so beautiful!" Slughorn praised, "That's wonderful, Miss Granger, you're doing a good job, but Jack is doing even better, obviously you've inherited your mother's talent!" If nothing else, this elixir is yours! ”

Harry's heart sank when he heard this.

Finally, Slughorn walked over to Harry, Ron, and Ernie's table. He smiled wryly at the tarry pile in Ron's pot, and walked over to the blue mixture that Ernie had boiled out. But when he saw the contents of Harry's cauldron, he had a look of incredible joy on his face.

He shouted to the class in the basement classroom, "Excellent, amazing, Harry!" Oh my God, I thought no one could do as well as Jack, but you surprised me and you made a living hell potion! Your mother, Lily, was my student back then, and you are now as clever as your mother! ”

"I'm having a hard time at this point." Slughorn looked a little hesitant, "You and Jack have done a pretty good job, who should I give this elixir to?" ”

Harry held his breath, but Silver had a calm face.

"The answer is, I'll give you one bottle each!" Slughorn pulled two identical flasks from his bosom. "You deserve it! Make good use of the Elixir! ”

Harry clutched the potion tightly, placing it in his chest pocket, clutching the potions textbook tightly in his left hand.

"I did it!" There was only one thought in Harry's head. (To be continued......)
