From Dire in Mali to Dakar, the distance is 2,000 kilometers in a straight line, but because of the existence of the Senegal River, the Grandmaster has to take a detour.

The Senegal River is one of the largest rivers in West Africa, encircling almost all of Senegal, and is also the border between the northern, eastern and southeastern parts of Senegal.

The river still has a large runoff and a wide valley, so if you don't have a bridge, you can't cross the river by car.

However, the whole of Senegal is a road bridge over the Senegal River, which is still located in Kidilla, upstream of Senegal. If you don't take Kidilla, you have to take a ferry to cross the Senegal River from somewhere else.

From Dere, head due west, through the valley through the low-lying Mandingo Plateau, by ferry from Caedi across the Senegal River, and then west to Dakar.

Therefore, in the last 20 years, four days through the Sahara Desert is the standard rhythm of the competition.

In other words, even if the Grandmaster stays in Dakar for a day, he is at least three days ahead of the other drivers.

Because of this judgment, the Grandmaster and Fang Zhengying discussed it and simply repaired it for a day in Dakar. One is that the next stage is one of the toughest in the whole rally, and the other is that Dakar is a city that is worth a day's stay.

Since we have traveled all the way from the west coast of the Pacific Ocean to the east coast of the Atlantic, it is not unacceptable to take a day to rest and play.
