Chapter 254: Academy War
Of the four Hogwarts houses, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are relatively moderate centrists, while Gryffindor and Slytherin are at the opposite extremes, rivalry and disagreeable to each other.
However, this kind of hostility and competition is within the limits of the school rules.
In the words of Fred and George, everyone knows where the bottom line is. Someone may occasionally cross one or two toes, but before they cause big trouble, they will immediately retract it, otherwise they will be punished severely by school rules.
But at noon today, the atmosphere in the auditorium was very strange.
Evan had a keen sense that something seemed to be going on between the two houses, Gryffindor and Slytherin.
The two sides were tense and the relationship was tense to the extreme, something that had never happened before.
As soon as he, Colin, and Ginny walked in, they saw several Slytherin House students, led by Malfoy, staring at the three of them maliciously.
Harry and Ron hurried up and ushered them to the Gryffindor table.
Seeing how cautious and wary they were with each other, Evan suspected that if there were no professors sitting on the faculty seats, they would have started a fight immediately.
"What the hell is going on?" said Evan as he sat down next to Hermione.
"It's all over the school, Sirius and Snape have a duel. Hermione whispered, her voice full of concern.
"Duel?!" Evan was stunned for a moment, "We saw it at the school gate yesterday"
"No, it happened this morning, the two of them got into a fight in the faculty lounge, and a few Hufflepuff students passing by witnessed the whole duel!" Hermione said, "There was a lot of movement, and it wasn't until Dumbledore came forward that the two of them stopped. β
Evan suddenly realized, no wonder he didn't see Sirius and Snape in the auditorium this morning, he thought they had finished breakfast early, who would have thought that the two of them would actually have a duel upstairs?!
"Sirius was so impulsive, he had already fought Snape twice on his first day of school," Hermione said uneasily.
Evan wasn't so surprised, Sirius's duel with Snape, no matter how you look at it, it was something that was bound to happen, but I didn't expect it to be so soon.
If the winner is not decided, the two of them will definitely continue to fight.
"Now that there is a duel, what is the result?"
"I don't know, they were separated by Dumbledore before they could tell the results!" Hermione continued, "but after class, Sirius told us that if we only gave him a few more minutes, we could defeat Snape. β
In Aven's opinion, this sentence should be said by Sirius for the sake of face, and Snape's strength should be stronger than him.
More than a decade ago, they might have been evenly matched. But Sirius, after all, had been locked up in Azkaban for thirteen years, and his magic and combat skills had regressed. And Snape has improved a lot in the past ten years.
If they continue to play, Sirius has a good chance of losing to Snape.
But given Sirius' fighting style, even if Snape won the duel in the end, he would definitely pay a considerable price.
All in all, if other external forces and environmental influences are not taken into account, the outcome of a duel between the two sides should be a lose-lose situation.
"Well, Sirius and Snape got into a fight, so what about Malfoy and those Slytherin students?"
"Why don't you understand, Aven!" Harry leaned in, "Since Sirius and Snape are going head-to-head, we must support Sirius." β
"Support Sirius?!" Evan was even more confused.
"That's right, we've all planned and are ready to find a chance to fight Slytherin to decide the winner, and we're currently looking for a man. Looking at what Malfoy and Slytherin meant, they must have thought the same way, and they all supported Snape. β
The idea of a head-to-head confrontation between academies and a winner is naΓ―ve enough.
Evan knew that Dumbledore would never let this happen, and he would definitely restrain Sirius and Snape to prevent the situation from getting worse.
"You think it's ridiculous, don't you?" Hermione asked, seeing Evan nod, she continued, "But Harry and Ron both think so, and I can't advise either of them to listen. β
"That's not what we think, Hermione, a lot of Gryffindors are ready to fight Slytherin after knowing about it, and they've wanted to do that for a long time. Ron said innocently, "What's more, Sirius is taking the lead this time." β
"It's just a private plan on the part of a few of you, and Sirius won't agree to such a crazy idea. Hermione said worriedly, "Have you forgotten that this happened once last year, and Professor McGonagall was mad at the time, and she said that if anyone dared to do this again, he would be expelled." β
"You mean the scuffle at the Quidditch field. Harry recalled, "Fred and George threw a lot of dung eggs, and Malfoy was the focus of attention. β
"He deserved it, who told him to say that to Hermione!" Ron added, glancing at Hermione and quickly looking away.
"But in the end, none of us took advantage, and everyone was punished in the end. Hermione struggled to get the conversation back to what she was going to say, "this time"
"Alright, Hermione, it's not a punishment to help Lockhart reply. I've heard Harry say that you and Evan weren't there. Ron waved his hand, "I wiped the trophy all night under Filch's watch, and vomited slugs for over two weeks. β
"So, you shouldn't either"
"This time it's different, Hermione!" Harry said in a low voice, "Malfoy is clearly preparing for an attack, Sirius's duel with Snape is just the fuse, he must be planning something under this pretext, we have to defend against it." β
"If that's the case, we should go and tell the professor. Hermione said uncertainly.
"Oh my God, do you want us to tell Professor McGonagall that Malfoy might be preparing to attack us and want the school to protect us?!" Ron refused, waving his fork, "It's a shame, we'll be laughed at if we do." β
"But"
"Have you forgotten what happened this morning, Malfoy is provoking and we have to fight. Harry said firmly, "There's no other way back, Hermione! β
The more Evan listened to the conversation between the three of them, the more confused he became.
He didn't know how Harry and Ron had elevated the battle between Sirius and Snape to a war between the two houses, and what else was going on in between that he didn't know. However, judging from the results alone, it is possible that Malfoy is indeed planning some kind of conspiracy, and it is very likely that he will use this incident to make trouble.
The necessary defenses are indeed necessary, but wouldn't it be too trivial to go straight to a large-scale dogfight?!(To be continued.) )
