Chapter 545: Crossing the Pamirs

From Hotan to Kashgar, there is a national highway No. 315, in addition to a highway and a railway. Pen "Fun" Pavilion www.biquge.info

Naturally, the grandmaster will not take the highway, the speed limit of the highway, unless it is necessary, the grandmaster will generally drive under the roadbed, especially on the road in this desert area, the roadbed of the highway and the desert next to it are almost indistinguishable.

The highway is about 100 meters south of Route 315 and the railroad is about 50 meters north of the road.

About 20 to 30 kilometers to the south of the highway is the tall and majestic Kunlun Mountains, where the snow-capped peaks are clearly visible, and they are all glaciers that have not melted for thousands of years.

From Hotan all the way to the west, there are five or six dry rivers on the way, and now it is generally the dry period of the river, and the river with this flow is only a few tens of kilometers, and it is generally dry at this time.

After an hour and a half of advancing in the desert and running about 250 kilometers, a large oasis appeared in front of me.

The area of this oasis is so large, far more than the oasis formed by the Yulong Kashgar River in Hotan, and at the same time, this oasis that suddenly appeared in the arid desert, it is also particularly eye-catching.

"Husband, there is the famous Yarkand Oasis in front of you. Fang Zhengying said on the side.

The Yarkand Oasis is formed by the Yarkand River, the headwaters of the Tarim River. The Yarkand River, which originates in the Karakoram Pass, is the river with the largest runoff in Kashgar Prefecture. The river is fed by springs gushing from rock formations on the west bank of the riverbed upstream, and meltwater from the snow-capped mountains of the world's second-highest peak, the K2 peak.

The Yarkand River flows out of the mounds into the Taklamakan Desert, and with its abundant water, it has created a huge oasis about 400 kilometers long and 40 kilometers wide on the western edge of the arid Taklamakan Desert, feeding millions of people living in this oasis.

Once in this oasis, the Grandmaster could not run under the roadbed. There are large crops growing everywhere here, and the Grandmaster can only honestly turn back onto Route 315 and follow the road.

On the way, the Grandmaster also saw the frozen Yarkand River. During the dry season, the Yarkand River is as quiet as a little girl, but when the water is high, the river immediately transforms into a fierce bull, roaring and venting its irritability downstream.

It wasn't until he ran out of this oasis along the highway that the Grandmaster drove the car into the Gobi Desert again and moved quickly.

At about two o'clock in the afternoon, the modified tough guy arrived at the check-in point in Kashgar, because there was an oasis, and the grandmaster ran the 500-kilometer distance for more than three hours.

After a short rest in Kashgar and a bite to eat, Grandmaster and Fang Zhengying continued their journey.

From Kashgar to the third transit city of Xidu, the straight-line distance is only more than 600 kilometers, but because it involves crossing the Pamir Plateau, the winding mountain road has been winding in the mountains, so if you want to drive from Kashgar to Xidu, you must at least run 1,000 kilometers along the road.

In fact, of the seven stages of the Vladivostok-Cape Town Rally, the third stage is the most difficult, and although it is not the longest, it is definitely the most difficult. First in the desert and then over the Pamirs, with an average altitude of more than 5,800 meters.

These two terrains alone are enough to make the riders want to die......

As long as you pay attention to carrying enough food and fresh water to ensure that the car is in good condition, then it is nothing more than a hard point.

But crossing the Pamirs is a huge challenge for all riders. Riders have to face not only rugged mountain roads but also altitude sickness as they climb the Pamirs. Although the altitude of most sections of the road is not so high, most people are really reluctant to challenge such a distance.

Many amateur riders don't sign in at all after starting from Hami, because these amateur riders don't plan to compete for the first place, they will go directly from Hami to Wushi, and then go to Huocheng along National Highway 312, or along Highway 216 from Barentai Town to Highway 218 to Huocheng, and finally from Huocheng to Xidu.

Not only is the route very close, but it also doesn't climb more than 2,000 meters of mountain passes on the way, so there are a large number of amateur riders who choose this route to reach the Western Capital in the third stage.

This is the so-called Northern Front.

Just go like this, and you will definitely not be able to record the results in the end, but many amateur riders still dare not challenge the southern line, which can easily climb over the mountains of more than 5,000 meters.

The Real Madrid team had a fixed supply point in Kashgar, where the Grandmaster maintained the car, replenished fuel and supplies, and set off at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

After arriving in Kashgar, the average rider will rest in Kashgar for the night to adjust the condition to the best before challenging the Pamirs. But the Grandmaster didn't want to wait, anyway, he set off now, and there were still more than four hours until sunset. The sunset here is after 8 p.m.......

From Kashgar, drive northwest along Provincial Highway 309 for about 60 kilometers to the small town of Topa, and from here turn to Provincial Highway 212 and head north over the Tien Shan Mountains in Vietnam.

Provincial Highway 212 actually winds in the valley of the Kyakmak River, which is only two or three hundred meters wide, and is flanked by mountains up to two or three thousand meters high, and you can't see the sun when you look up......

The further north you go, the higher the altitude increases, until you reach the Turgat Pass, where you reach an altitude of 3,795 meters.

After going up to 3,500 meters, the Grandmaster's special physical fitness didn't feel anything, but Fang Zhengying began to feel uncomfortable, fortunately, most of the sections of Highway 212 were relatively straight, and Fang Zhengying didn't have to endure the hardships brought by continuous turns.

After crossing the Turgat Pass, the altitude begins to decrease rapidly, and after about 10 kilometers along the road, after turning a mountain pass, even if you completely cross the South Tien Shan Mountain Range, the altitude drops to about 3,200 meters. At this height, Fang Zhengying felt a lot better.

As soon as I came out of the Southern Tianshan Mountains, I saw a large silver-white lake appear in front of me. This frozen lake is Lake Chattelkel at the foot of the northern foothills of the Southern Tien Shan Mountains.

The lake is sandwiched between two mountain ranges, flanked by mountains thousands of meters high, and sandwiched between such a lake, which is quite beautiful.

After walking more than 200 kilometers along Highway 365 to the north, at about 10 o'clock in the evening, Grandmaster and Fang Zhengying arrived at Naren, an important city in central Kyrgyzstan.

Nearly 400 kilometers away, the Grandmaster walked for a full five hours, which shows how difficult this kind of hellish mountain road is. The climb over the Tien Shan Mountains in Vietnam is only the first step in crossing the Pamir Plateau, and there are a series of mountains in the Northern Tien Shan Mountains waiting to be crossed......
