Chapter 198: Kreacher's friendship
In the next second, unprecedented anger took over Sirius's brain.
"Kreacher!" he roared, "you watched Regulus die and did nothing, and heβhe's still a child."
Although he already had a hunch, Sirius couldn't believe that this was actually the truth about Regulus's death.
The words of reproach have not yet been finished, and the house-elves are already punishing themselves.
Before everyone could react, Kreacher had already fallen to the ground, slamming his head against the floor, using all the strength of his body.
"Stop him, stop him!" Hermione screamed, turning her head to Sirius and shouting, "Can't you see how cruel this thing is, he can only obey!" Regulus ordered him not to move, so he just stood there and watched what happened.
Hearing Hermione's words, Sirius fell silent, his eyes filled with anger as he looked at the house-elves who were looking for death with hatred.
Seeing Sirius not moving, Harry rushed over to stop Kreacher.
But it didn't work, the old house-elf was so strong that he slammed his head into the ground in desperation.
If he didn't stop it, he would soon crash himself to his death.
Eventually, Evan had to cast a Prison Spell on him, and he was forced to stop.
Kreacher lay on the ground, panting and shivering, his nose covered in green slime, blood streaming from his pale forehead, and his eyes were red and bloodshot and tearful. His appearance was simply miserable, and Evan had never seen such a pitiful sight.
"Sirius, we should be nicer to him," Hermione whispered, wiping tears from the back of her hand.
"You told me to be nice to him!" Sirius' deep voice had a hint of cruelty in it, "he killed my brother, he watched Regulus die, but he did nothing. β
Seeing the way he was now, he wanted to kill Kreacher with his own hands.
"No, that's not what he thinks. Hermione hurriedly argued, "Kreacher is a slave, he can only obey orders, Regulus ordered him to do that, he has no way to resist. It's unfair to put all the blame on him. Look at the way he looks now, the death of Regulus is more cruel to him than it is to all of us. β
Sirius opened his mouth, as if trying to argue, but Hermione didn't give him a chance.
"Sirius, I know the truth about Regulus' death, and it's hard for you to accept it, but from the information we've gotten so far, Regulus's mind has changed, and that's the most important point!" Hermione looked at Sirius, "Just down there, you told us what you thought of him. But he's not at all what you think of him now, he's not weak at all, and in order to protect Kreacher and protect the Black family, Regulus is fighting against Voldemort. He's a hero, he's even more courageous than all the Gryffindors I've ever known."
Sirius retorted wordlessly, proud of what his brother had done.
He suddenly thought of Regulus as a child, when he used to follow his ass and look at him with adoration. They used to have a very good relationship, and they had agreed to go to Hogwarts together and enter Slytherin together.
But since I went to Hogwarts first, and since I entered Gryffindor House, everything has changed.
Sirius remembers that when he came home for his first summer vacation, Regulus had a fight with him.
They haven't said a word since.
He had always thought that Regulus was like a fool, a Death Eater, and then died of cowardice and inexplicability, but the truth was not at all.
He, like himself, was rebelling against Voldemort.
Although he did not openly resist and did not join the Order of the Phoenix, he did what he did more courageously and perseveringly than any member of the Order of the Phoenix.
For the first time, Sirius's eyes showed some emotion as he lay on the ground crying, and the house-elf finally endured the pain alone by Regulus's side.
It also took a lot of courage, and Sirius looked at Kreacher with a complicated gaze, as if he had finally seen the house-elf as a creature with the same emotional sensitivities as humans
Inside the basement, the atmosphere was low and terrible.
After Hermione said those words, Sirius remained silent.
Kreacher was silently holding back tears, and beside him, Harry gasped, his face worse than ever.
Evan sighed, and he said slowly, "Kreacher, you brought this locket back after Regulus was dragged into the lake by those corpses, and tried to destroy it, didn't you?"
"Yes, but Kreacher couldn't leave a mark on it. The house-elf said sadly that he wanted to continue punishing himself, but he couldn't move, "Kreacher tried everything, everything, but none of them succeeded. There was so much powerful magic on the box that Kreacher punished himself and tried again and punished himself again and tried again. Kreacher failed to carry out the order, Kreacher could not destroy the locket! The disappearance of Master Regulus made the mistress go crazy with grief, Kreacher knew everything, but he couldn't tell her what happened, no, because Master Regulus forbade and forbade Kreacher to tell the mistress about the cave."
Kleeche couldn't stop crying, he was completely broken.
Beside him, Hermione looked at Kreacher and burst into tears, but did not dare to touch him again.
"I just destroyed this locket to help you fulfill Regulus's last wish, and you don't blame yourself for it. Evan opened the ruined locket and showed it to Kreacher.
The house-elf's eyes widened violently, and he let out a howl of surprise and pain, and his eyes widened more than ever, looking at Evan in disbelief, at the locket in his hand.
It took nearly half an hour for him to gradually quiet down.
Kreacher twitched weakly, looking like he didn't have the strength to cry.
Sirius, who had not spoken, calmed down as well, and whispered to the house-elves, "Get up, Kreacher, I have something to ask you." β
"I'm going to undo your magic now, and don't hurt myself anymore. Evan waved his wand and whispered, "Stop!"
Kreacher sat up, rubbing his eyes with his fists like a child.
Then, he hobbled up to Aven, stretched out his hand and touched the locket in Aven's hand, and immediately retracted it.
"You, you've helped Kreacher fulfill Master Regulus's orders, and you've destroyed this locket!" Kreacher said incredulously, a look of relief on his face for the first time.
He looked at Evan Hermione's gaze, not the disgust and disdain he had before.
He seemed to forget about their Muggle origins, and bowed low to Aven, Harry, and Hermione.
Although the action looks a little funny, there is no perfunctory expression between the expressions.
Evan knew that by destroying the Slytherin locket and helping Kreacher fulfill Regulus's orders, he had finally gained the friendship of the house-elf.
Like Dobby, Kreacher now respects him from the bottom of his heart.
This is indeed a joy to behold, and perhaps the most positive and optimistic change that the destruction of this Horcrux has brought about.
Although Evan doesn't know, what can the friendship of a house-elf be used for?
Maybe it will come in handy at a critical moment!(To be continued.) )
