Chapter 239: Reason
Dear Teachers, lay people, and students, the day we have been waiting for for a long time has arrived!
The Land of the Yogis
We can see from the "Biography", from the "Biography" of Master Xuanzang, that he went to India to learn scriptures, and the main thing is to invite this treatise and learn this one.
After arriving in India, when I met the precept teacher, it was at Nalanda Monastery that I told a story. It is the precept that he has a wind disease, and when this wind disease occurs, the pain is terrible, and it may have been a long time, and this great master also wants to commit suicide, so he wants to die. After having such thoughts, I had a dream in which Manjushri, Avalokiteshvara, and Maitreya came, and then Manjushri said, "You used to be kings, and you abused the common people, so now you are receiving this kind of retribution." You want to die or you can't, this sin karma is not over, if you die, you still have to suffer, so you can't die. You have to spread the Dharma with a big heart, and your sins will gradually be extinguished, and this problem will be solved. Now if a monk comes from the country of China (i.e., China), you give him a lecture on the Land of the Yogis, and you have to wait for him to come and give a lecture on the Land of the Yogis. Then the dream wakes up, wakes up.
He asked Master Xuanzang: How many years have you been here from your motherland? He said: It's been three years. (It took three years to get there from China to Nalanda Monastery in India). It can be seen from this incident that this Master Xuanzang went to India to study the "Treatise on the Land of the Yogi", which is the cause of Manjushri, Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Maitreya Bodhisattva.
The Treatise on the Land of the Yogis can be said to be a comprehensive and orderly introduction to the Dharma. It's not an introduction to the Dharma, it's a very detailed, very profound explanation of the Dharma. Hinayana Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism are all included. It's a hundred volumes in total. One hundred volumes, the precept of the virtuous master for Master Xuanzang a total of three times. Master Xuanzang studied with him three times and spoke three times. The first time I spoke for fifteen months, the second time for nine months, and the third time I didn't say time.
(Fifteen months, assuming that we also say in vain, at the same rate, we have only four months of classes in a semester, and four months of classes in a semester, if four semesters are sixteen months, and two semesters in a year, then two years are four semesters, four hundred and sixteen months.) "↖dǐng" ↖diǎn "↖小" ↖ said, .2≡3.@os_ (); So we expect it to take maybe two years to finish, which is a long time. )
If we can realize the importance of the Yogi Land Treatise, it will be worth it for us to spend three years. It is also worth studying a "Treatise on the Land of Yogis" for three years. Because we are able to conform to the Buddha's original intention and the Buddha's correct knowledge and correct views on the Dharma, especially for the matter of practice, we are able to reach this path of cultivation, which is indeed not easy.
We're in general... For a long time in Chinese Buddhism, everyone has been learning this method of reciting Buddhism. Reciting the Dharma is also very special, and it is indeed very good. It is good to be able to recite Amitabha Buddha to survive in the Pure Land, and to be able to succeed, that is, to succeed in an all-round way.
But if you want to learn Zen, you may want to learn Zen. We have the so-called Zen Buddhism in China, and it is not easy for you to understand how to practice and learn Zen. If you use the holy teaching as a ruler to measure the quotations of the Zen masters of Zen Buddhism, then there is still a diǎn problem. Some great Zen masters can, and some people still have diǎn problems with the French they speak.
And this treatise is a comprehensive and in-depth explanation of Zen for us, if we can study it seriously, we will no longer follow the tongue of others, and you will have your own opinions, oh! This is how we should study Zen, and we will understand.
This treatise is also annotated in our country, and there are many commentaries. After Master Xuanzang returned to China and translated the "Treatise on the Land of Yogis", many people studied this treatise and wrote many works.
But now what we can see is that the complete part of the "Tibetan Sutra" is the "Treatise on the Land of the Yogis", which was compiled by Shi Dunlun in the Tang Dynasty, that is, the works of other people, and he compiled it together to explain this treatise.
The other is the "Brief Compilation of the Treatise on the Land of the Yogis" by Master Peeji, which only explains that this , and there is no other explanation.
In addition, there are some other people's writings, some of which are still partially there, all of them are mutilated, and the others are completely gone, and there is no zài.
Of course, India also has such annotations on the "Treatise on the Land of the Yogis", there is a book called "The Commentary on the Land of the Yogis", and it is also mentioned in the "Commentary on the Land of the Yogis" that there are so many 500 volumes, but Master Xuanzang only turned out one volume, and the others have not been translated.
Another annotation is that since the Republic of China, this Han Qingjing, there is a three-time society in Beijing, and this Han Qingjing layman has a book "Compilation of Yoga Masters and Treatises on Science and Sentences".
In this book, this Han Qingjing is a scholar of wisdom, and he is indeed very familiar with knowledge. This book has been circulated overseas, but unfortunately it is not complete, and there is also a lack of diǎn. It was he typed and printed at the beginning, and there was a problem with the proofreading, and how many of them were missing.
Every student now has this book, and we will gradually learn that there are also flaws in it. The reference books we can find now are these two, one is "The Legend of Dunlun" and the other is "The Legend of Phi Xun", which are also very good.
At the beginning, I would like to use this summary from the previous part of the "Chronicles of the Lun".
("Yoga Treatises", Volume 1, Collected by Shi Dunlun)
At the beginning of the **** end, the six doors are:
1. Describe what you do, 2. Explain the cause, 3. Mingzong Yao, 4. Manifest the Tibetan photo, 5. Solve the problem, and 6. Explain this text.
Learn from him to us.
At the beginning, this hair is the beginning. How do we study the beginning, the beginning of this treatise, the beginning of this treatise? The six disciplines are divided into six parts to explain it.
The first is what the narrative does, what the narrative does. What is the purpose of this treatise?
The author of this treatise, our Chinese Buddhism, Master Xuanzang, said that it was said by Maitreya Bodhisattva, that is, this Maitreya Bodhisattva in heaven, but what about Buddhism in Tibet? It is said that it was created by Asanga, and this is different.
So what is the purpose of this treatise? It's called doing, and this is what it means.
Second, the cause of the manifestation, the second paragraph, showing, the manifest, the manifest. To show how a cause is, there is this treatise. This one is not the same as that.
3. What is the important purpose of this 100-volume "Treatise on the Land of Yogis"?
The fourth manifestation of the Tibetan system, which shows that the Mahayana Tibetan and the Hinayana Tibetan have sutra commentary, and what part does it belong to?
The fifth paragraph explains the title of the Yogi Dharma.
The sixth paragraph, well, explain this article.
The first narrative is the one who did it. What is the purpose of this theory? As the "Commentary" makes clear, there are ten times and two fates.
Now the first paragraph of the narrative is about this... What kind of merit will be achieved? 22
(To be continued.) )
