Chapter 19: The Monster Attacked

Leaving Gu'an Village and cutting through the grass that seemed to have no road, Il and I came to an east-west avenue.

The entire road is made of stones of different sizes, so it is slightly higher than the surrounding ground, and although there are no modern machines such as rollers, the stones are crushed quite smoothly, so you don't have to worry about tripping even if you walk with your eyes closed.

The sight of horse-drawn wagons hurrying along the road and pedestrians talking with their parcels on their backs gives the road an air of commerce, and according to Nina, it is the King's Road that connects the port city of Sivaran with the capital city of Harvest Valley, and is the widest road in the entire Duchy of Basol.

"Wow, Big Brother Carter, come on, this road is so comfortable to walk!" Il cautiously stepped on his foot and let out a rather excited cry after taking a few steps.

Such a fuss and shout attracted strange glances from the surrounding passers-by, "What's the matter with this guy, haven't you seen the world's hillbilly" It seems that such a mockery is heard from behind that gaze.

Ahem, at this time, let's pretend not to know him, I hurriedly looked up at the sky forty-five degrees.

Although Il's performance is a bit exaggerated, it has to be said that the whole road is indeed quite wide, and it is not at all the same level as the dirt trail we have walked before. With the main purpose of facilitating transportation and marching, the width of the road was expanded to the point where six wagons could travel side by side. This is of course surprisingly wide in a world where there are no cars or other means of transportation, and horses are mainly relied on, and although there are not many pedestrians, it is not crowded at all.

There were no signposts to tell which end of the road was leading to Sivaran, but Nina had anticipated this and told us to go east when we arrived at the King's Road.

What a help, Nina!

Following Nina's guidance, we headed east from the King's Road, and Il, humming incessantly, seemed to be in a good mood. But as a companion, I was not in such a good mood because his singing voice was so ugly. When the pedestrians around us pass by, they will always cast alert eyes and unconsciously speed up their pace. It seems that my outfit is still too conspicuous, and it is indeed a little scary with this weird mask, but it should be even more scary when I take off the mask in comparison, and I am really a little helpless.

"Get out of the way! Get out of the way! After walking some distance, a shrill shout suddenly came from behind him.

The two carriages came at a rapid pace, one in front and the other in front of which seemed to be carrying someone, while the back carriage contained a large metal box held in place by chain. The ten men who served as escorts rode around the two carriages, the four in the front were wearing the same armor and were supposed to be regular army personnel, while the six riding in the back were wearing different equipment and looked like adventurers.

"Be careful, you almost hit me!" "Really, what the hell!" ……

The pedestrians in front hurriedly moved to the sides of the road, muttering very dissatisfied.

However, the group in a state of urgency did not have time to pay attention to it, and just galloped forward on their own.

Just as the group almost disappeared from the end of sight and the small turmoil was about to subside, there was a loud sound like an explosion on the road ahead, and the pedestrians not far away screamed and rushed back. Something must have happened, but curious, Il and I walked against the flow of people.

There was a deep crater formed by the strong impact on the road in front of him, and the road surface crushed by the stones was rereduced to broken stones, and a huge monster stood in the middle of two overturned carriages, about three meters tall, and was abnormally strong, although it had two heads, it didn't look like it had quite intelligence, and its chin protruded sharply, revealing two sharp fangs, a huge belly and dull eyes gave people a funny feeling, but no one on the field showed a smile.

The giant monster grabbed the horse in front of it, and with a pull of both hands, it tore it in half effortlessly, splattering blood and internal organs, instantly turning King's Avenue into a bloody slaughterhouse.

"Ogre! Nick, Anna, keep a distance, Lances, Drucker bow and arrow cover, Yarebuck you follow me! A middle-aged adventurer leaped to the side with agility and dodged the ogre's punch, only to pity the horses beneath him, which were smashed into meatloaf.

With these words, the remaining five adventurers instantly took out their weapons and took action.

Compared to the adventurers who entered the battle state in an instant, the four soldiers on the side were much inferior, and they were thrown down by the frightened horses and fell enough.

Although the ogre looks wooden, it is quite agile in its movements. It weaponized the torn carcass of the horse and slammed it into a fallen soldier, screaming with the sound of bones breaking. The force of the horse and the corpse of the soldier were fused together in one piece, forming a terrifying mass of flesh.

Seeing this scene, the remaining three soldiers instantly lost the courage to fight, and fled towards the woods on both sides of the road.

"Whoosh!" The sound of the wind suddenly sounded!

Several wooden arrows flew out of the woods and pierced the heads of the two soldiers, freeing them from fear, while the other soldier was shot through the shoulder, and he fell to the ground with a cry of distress, his face full of tears from the pain.

However, the gods did not have mercy on him, and a white monster resembling an ape-like came out of the woods and stepped on the body of the soldier who was trying to crawl forward, and then stabbed him in the throat with a spear in his hand.

The monster stirred the spear in its hand, then lifted the soldier's head and roared into the sky. With this action, a series of shouts suddenly sounded in the surrounding woods, and the same monsters rushed out of the woods in a steady stream, and the number easily exceeded a hundred.

"What are you kidding, it's Lin Ren! Arebuck blocks the ogre, Ranjes, Drucker tackle the archers in the trees, Anne magic supports, and Nick beware of not letting them get close! The middle-aged adventurer rolled forward and passed between the ogre's legs, running towards the charging forester.

"Good!" The other adventurers moved as well.

Seeing the monsters surrounded by overwhelming numerical superiority, ordinary adventurers may have turned around and fled in fright. But the middle-aged adventurer did not hesitate at all, he waved the broadsword in his hand while calmly observing the number of monsters around him, and quickly adjusted his tactics, commanding his companions to meet the attack, this fearless spirit and calm judgment all showed his excellent talent as a captain.

And so, a scuffle unfolded before our eyes.
