Chapter 365: Lake of Darkness
As the group reached the door, Mr. Weasley, unfamiliar with the place, tripped over a large umbrella made of one of the troll's broken legs. As a result, he grabbed the two velvet curtains covered with insect eyes and pulled them apart.
"Oh, oh noβ" Sirius had not finished when a terrible, deafening, creepy scream came from a portrait behind the curtain.
"Brute, bitch, filthy and sinful son, bastard, freak, ugly, get out of here! How dare you defile my ancestor's houseβ"
"Shut up!" Sirius grasped the curtain, "you terrible old witch, you killed Regulus. I found him and now I'm going to pick him up. β
"What, my child, Regulus, is dead?" The old lady's face turned pale and showed a sad expression. Each portrait in the wizarding world has its own incomplete consciousness after it is painted, and many of them are slowly instilled by these portrait archetypes. This portrait of Sirius's mother is supposed to have been painted before her death, and in addition to a set of pure-blood concepts, all that remains is resentment with her eldest son, Sirius, and nostalgia for her missing youngest son. So upon learning of the death of Regulus, the portrait immediately showed a sense of sadness.
"Yes, it's you, my good mother. You hurt him and sent him to death. After saying that, Sirius pulled the curtain hard, but at this time the woman in the portrait did not roar as usual, but sat there dumbfounded.
In silence, four people and a house-elf walked out of the mansion. Clarche then led them one by one to a large cavern, and after releasing a lantern plant and holding it up to his hand, Ryan could see a puddle of water at the end of the cave. A stone staircase extended up from the water. The air around was silent and cold, with a smell of sea. The place represented should be by the sea.
"This is it. Kreacher's voice was somewhat muffled. "The door that needed blood was in front of it, but unfortunately there was a strange magic arranged inside, and Kreacher's apparition could not accurately locate the space inside, so he had to come out of it, but he couldn't enter from the outside. Kreacher had no way to fulfill his master's orderβ"As he spoke, he slammed his head on the stone ground." Luckily, Sirius stopped him.
"That's enough, so stop. With that, he walked over to the stone wall that Kreacher had pointed out and pointed his wand at the rock in that place. Suddenly, the outline of an arch appeared there, radiating a dazzling white light, as if there was a strong light shining behind the crack. "This should be it. β
With that, he took out the wizard's blood he had bought from his bosom and poured it on the outline of the arch. Maybe Sirius was a little too hard, and the entire surface of the rock was sprinkled with shiny, dark red beads of blood.
After the rock wall absorbed the blood, the outline of the arch did not disappear as before. The blood-splattered rock in the arch suddenly vanished, revealing a doorway that seemed to be endless darkness inside.
"Let's go!" Sirius walked in with one hand holding up the lantern plant that Ryan had given him earlier, and led the way with his wand in the other, and the others followed him in the same posture on guard. Only Ryan didn't have a wand, but he had a thick stack of yellow paper talismans in his hand.
Under the light source in their hands, they saw a very strange sight in front of them: they were standing on the shore of a large black lake, the surface of which was extremely wide and endless, and they could not see the opposite shore in the distance. The cave they were in was so high that they couldn't see the roof of it when they looked up. In the distance, as if in the middle of the lake, a hazy, green light flickered, reflecting in the dead water below.
What's even more evil is that except for the light source in their hands and the green light in the distance, there is a completely dense darkness that cannot be dissolved. Even the lantern plants, which are specially designed to break through the darkness, don't shine far. This means that the darkness here is most likely a product of some kind of magic rather than nature.
"Let's go ahead," Sirius whispered, "be careful not to step into the water." Everyone moved a little closer, letting Ryan walk in the middle. β
After adjusting their formation, their feet stepped on the narrow rocks by the lake and began to walk around the shore. Finally we came to a shore. This shore is no different from the rest, it is just as dark and cold. However, Kreacher recognized it, and at his direction, several men dragged out the boat where Voldemort was hiding.
"We must go to the other side of the island, where Regulus was dragged into the water. It's easier to find only over there. Not to mention that the lake here is too narrow for us to use. But only one wizard is allowed to cross the lake, so what are we going to do?" Lupin asked.
"Just let me pass. Sirius said impulsively, but was stopped by Ryan.
"It's better for us to act collectively, after all, this place is too weird and it's not a good idea to act separately. Ryan stood on the side of the boat and made a few gestures, then looked at the runes emerging from the ship and said, "And I have a way to get us all over." β
After this sentence grabbed everyone's attention, Ryan explained. "I just checked the ship, and the limit on it is not measured by weight or soul, but by magic. That is, the designers of this set of traps only limited the magical power equivalent of an adult wizard to crossing his lake. β
Speaking of this, Ryan smiled: "And I happen to have a way here to block out the magic on the wizard." After saying that, he took out a few bracelets with a rune stone hanging from his body, "Just take it." β
With the exception of Sirius, several people wore bracelets. They were then crowded into the boat in the same way that Indians took on transport. As soon as everyone was on board, the boat set off. Everything was automated, and there seemed to be an invisible rope pulling it towards the green light in the middle of the lake.
The surface of the lake is calm and the water is clear. As we approached the island, corpses began to appear at the bottom of the water, first scattered and scattered, but then more and more, until finally we could see corpses as white as marble piling up on top of each other at the bottom of the lake.
"Merlin, how many kills did he kill?" Mr. Weasley groaned at the sight of the corpses.
A few minutes later, the boat gently bumped into something and stopped. Illuminated by the light source in his hand, Ryan found them on a smooth rocky island in the middle of the lake.
The island is actually a single black rock, one or two hundred square meters, and the top is very flat. There was only a stone basin in the middle, and the green light came from the potion inside.
"Alright, let me set it up, and I'll be ready to go. Ryan said after a few people set foot on the island. He then used the dagger in his hand to carve lines into the rocky ground and filled them with a golden powder.
Ten minutes later, as the last stroke fell. The entire island turned into a large magic circle, and everyone present felt that what flowed in the magic circle was vitality and light that was incompatible with the surrounding environment.
At this time, Ryan took out seven or eight jars of sunlight crystals from his waist bag and said to a few people next to him, "When I launch the magic array in a while, you can evenly sprinkle the golden crystals in these jars into the surrounding water, and these yin corpses will climb up on their own." After touching my magic circle, it will be refined directly. β
After saying that, Ryan gave the yellow paper talisman in his hand to Arthur and Lupin. "But there is a limit to the operation of this magic array, if a large number of Yin corpses are piled up, please throw this thing into a place where they are dense. This power-up slows them down and weakens them. The two men took the note and nodded.
Ryan pulled out a few more talismans and handed them to Sirius and Kreacher. "When you see Regulus, draw the talisman in your hand and stick it on him, and then you can bring him in. Sirius, they nodded earnestly.
"Alright, 3, 2, 1 begins!" After making all the preparations, Ryan activated the magic circle.
