Chapter 491: Potions Lesson
Ryan led Harry and Ron away from Professor McGonagall as fast as they could, and Harry and the others ran with their heads down like rats escaping from a cat's paws. until running around the corner and Hermione will meet. Afterwards, Ryan told Hermione what had happened. As a result, the two of them were amused by Professor McGonagall's dry humor.
"Ah, that's bad luck. I thought I would be able to take a break after writing so many things. After getting out of Professor McGonagall's sight, Ron reluctantly said that he had chosen the same class as Harry at that time, so that he could have a companion with Harry, and he could find someone to copy his homework later, but now that he remembered the content of the Potions class, he suddenly felt that he was a little impulsive when he chose the class in the morning.
However, it can also be seen here that Ron's academic level is not low, otherwise he would not have been able to apply for these subjects. Therefore, in the previous life, many fandoms described Ron's level as nothing, which should be just a prejudice.
As they descended downstairs to the basement classroom, they met Hagrid in the foyer of the school, and Hagrid happily raised an arm to greet them, before speaking to Ryan. "Thank you for your help in getting my brother to be accepted by the centaurs, otherwise I'm sure I'd be in trouble for Professor Dumbledore this year. β
After saying that, he looked at Harry and Ron, "I was a little frustrated not to see you in my class this morning, but then I felt less frustrated when I thought that you were all older now and had your own goals." Harry, I know you need to learn a lot to become an Auror, you need a lot of time to practice, and I totally understand it if you don't come to my classes. I wish you the last time to achieve your goal and become a great Auror. With that, Hagrid waved at them again and left.
"I feel a little sorry for him. Harry felt a little guilty as he watched Hagrid stride out the door. "I, as his friend, should have enrolled in his class. β
"Don't be stupid, Harry. Ron looked a little helpless and said, "Now we need to put in 200% of our energy to barely keep up with the progress of these subjects, not to mention that you are still the captain of Quidditch, and you need to spend a lot of time on training." If you add one more course, you probably won't want to sleep this year. β
"And after graduation, there will be no shortage of people who want to enter the Department of Magical Creature Management and Control, so there should be a lot of wizards who apply for Hagrid's advanced class, so there will not be an embarrassing situation where no one goes to class. Ryan's explanation made Harry look a lot more relaxed, and by this time they had already reached the corridor outside the basement classroom, and saw that there were only twelve or thirteen students coming to the advanced class, which also meant that the maximum number of pharmacists that could be provided in the whole of Britain each year was that number. It's no wonder that potions out there aren't cheap at all.
Before they could say anything to the others, the classroom door opened. Before the Slughorn could show up, the big belly had already come out. Unlike Snape, who had always been stilted-faced, Slughorn smiled and beckoned his classmates through the door, especially when greeting Harry and Sabini. ξ
Upon entering, Ryan found that the basement was already filled with vapor and a variety of strange smells. Ryan smelled a peculiar cold smell with a faint smell of rust from inside, but strangely he found that he was not averse to the smell, and even felt a great sense of satisfaction slowly coming over him.
"Alright, alright, alright," Slughorn said. Looking through the many hot vapors, his large figure seemed fluttering. "Students, please take out the scales, medicine bags, and, don't forget to take out your 'Advanced Potions Making' textbook, we're going to class. β
As he stepped up to the podium, he noticed Harry looking at him with his hand raised. "Is there anything wrong with you? Harry?"
"I'm sorry Professor, I don't have books, I don't have scales, I don't have anything - so is Ron- because, we didn't expect to be able to go to advanced classes, we sent out the order form this morning, but the things haven't arrived yet-"
"Ah, that's okay. You can use the ingredients in the locker today, the scales, and the old textbooks, and then return them when your things arrive in the next class. Slughorn strode over to a storage cabinet in the corner, handed two copies of what he was going to use for the day, handed it to Harry and Ron, and then returned to the podium.
"I've prepared some potions this morning to open your eyes, and I think you'll be able to make something like this if you can successfully complete the Potions Improvement class. Okay, do you know what these are?" he said, pointing to the pot of clear liquid like boiling water.
Hermione raised her hand straight as he finished speaking, and Slughorn pointed at her. Hermione opened her mouth and said, "It's a truth elixir, Professor." Able to make the person who drinks it tell the truth. β
"Very well, but what about this pot?" Slughorn pointed to a pot of what looked like boiling mud, and Ryan immediately recognized it as the polyjuice potion he had gotten in Brazil when he was a sophomore. Hermione, of course, was not bothered by this kind of question, and after taking one look at it, she said, "It's a polyjuice potion, sir." β
"Alright, let's take a look at this last pot. With that, Slughorn looked at Hermione with a slightly expectant look, and Hermione did not live up to the professor's expectations.
"It's an aphrodisiac. Hermione affirmed. "You can tell his characteristic mother-of-pearl glow and the spiraling vapors. The most special thing is that this potion smells the most appealing to everyone. For example, I could smell freshly cut lawns, brand new parchment, andβ"
At this point, Hermione blushed and pursed her lips to say no more. It's just that he turned his head and looked at Ryan when everyone wasn't paying attention, and then smiled at the same time.
"Honey, can you tell me your name?" Slughorn asked, pretending not to see Hermione's little movements, as he was used to being in love with such young people.
"Hermione Granger, sir. β
"Granger, Granger, are you related to Hertock Dagworth-Granger, the founder of the Extraordinary Pharmacists Association?" Slughorn subconsciously thought of celebrities.
"No, probably not, sir. I'm Muggle-born. β
The two Slytherin students snickered there, but instead of showing the disdain as Hermione had imagined, Professor Slughorn, who had been the Slytherin headmaster, laughed.
He seemed to read what Hermione was thinking. So he said gently, "Take it easy, I've ever had one of the most proud schoolgirls who was also a Muggle, but unfortunately later-" At this point he found himself a little out of shape, so he glanced at Harry and said, "Because of the perfect answer just now, add a well-deserved twenty points to Miss Granger of Gryffindor." β
Slughorn then said to the class very seriously: "The effect of the aphrodisiac varies according to the level of the maker, and there are some very high-level pharmacists who can make people unconditionally obsessed. Of course, the feelings made by this potion can never be called love. This is probably the most dangerous and powerful potion in this classroom. β
After speaking, he put a lid on the crucible containing the potion, looked at some disapproving students underneath, and nodded very seriously. "You guys are still too young and naΓ―ve. When your life experience is as rich as mine, you won't underestimate the power of the demon's infatuation......"
Hearing this, Ryan suddenly thought that this professor was born noble, magical and rich at the same time, but he had been single all his life. Is it because I used aphrodisiacs by mistake when I was young?
Just as Ryan was letting go of his mind and starting to make up for it, Slughorn cleared his throat and said, "Now, we should start the official class." β
