Chapter 490: Laboratory
Unlike what I imagined, this alchemy laboratory was not full of dust as I imagined, but was cleaned up, as if it had only been cleaned up yesterday.
"House-elf cleaning is perfect!" Hermione said, looking at the spotless lab. "It looks like it's likely that the school's house-elves are cleaning up here every day. β
"It's more than that. Ryan waved his hand, and some silver dots of light spilled from the ring on his hand and floated onto the wall. As these points of light touched the wall, a circle of ripples rippled around the center of the circle. Hermione was surprised to see the original cyan brick wall slowly fade away like a phantom, revealing a translucent black stone wall underneath. Not only the surrounding walls, but also the floor tiles and ceilings.
"What is this?" asked Hermione, looking at the translucent black stones around her.
"The obsidian that has been treated with alchemy, and there is a whole set of very complex magic arrays inside. All this is done to ensure a balance in the laboratory in order to exclude the influence of external factors on the test as much as possible. Ryan said after carefully inspecting the room. "Aside from the fact that the facilities are a bit too old, this is the second best alchemy lab I've ever seen. β
After trying to quickly forge a protective bracelet of copper, Ryan and Hermione left the house. Although the style of the equipment in this laboratory is a little older, the basic functions required for alchemy, such as crushing, melting, heating, cooling and a series of functions, can be completed perfectly. Ryan decided that he could move here if he did anything unimportant in the future, and his simple portable lab should be able to use less and reduce wear and tear this semester.
Once back in the common room to clean up, they began their first Defence Against the Dark Arts class of the year. As soon as they walked into the classroom, Ryan found that Professor Snape had given them a dismissal, reminding them that the course was not as simple as they had imagined.
The entire classroom was in Snape's style, the curtains were drawn tightly, and only the faint glow of the candles was dim than usual. There are some pictures on the walls that were not there before, many of which depict people in pain, hideous wounds, and bizarre twisted body parts. Even Ryan, who had experienced bloody battles, felt a little uncomfortable after watching it, let alone the other classmates who had grown up in a completely peaceful environment, and they sat down without saying a word, looking at the pictures on the wall with some awe.
What followed was a remark full of poisonous tongues, which summed up that most of the people who can attend classes now passed the exam by luck, and everyone here is basically rubbish. Next, he described what black magic is in a tone of love and admiration, and the need to be flexible and innovative in the face of black magic.
For example, the Carol brothers and sisters did master a lot of black magic, but they didn't even have time to use a single black magic when they were targeted in Russia before, and Ryan naturally didn't suffer from their black magic.
After a lot of foreshadowing, it's time for the silent mantra to be learned in this lesson. However, Ryan and the members of the book club had learned this trick as early as last year, so after Snape gave the order, they automatically divided into groups and began to practice, which caused Snape to look over a few more times.
Just when Ryan thought he was going to come and ask, Harry, the most hateful guy, managed to get Snape's attention. After satirizing Harry and Ron, he tried to surprise Harry, but was unexpectedly knocked away by Harry's subconscious shouting of the iron armor.
Naturally, this earned Harry a Saturday night confinement in Snape's office. However, the news did not frustrate Harry, as one of the Gryffindor juniors brought him a sheepskin at the end of class, which was a note from Professor Dumbledore to Harry, asking Harry to come to class at eight o'clock on Saturday night.
Ryan and Hermione then went to arithmetic and divination lessons, while Harry and the others went back to the common room to do their homework. There are very few people who can take the arithmetic divination improvement class, and there are only six people counting Ryan. The content of natural learning is also much more esoteric, and a lot of calculations are beginning to involve a lot of knowledge about the most basic parts of magic.
Just like science, there are a lot of things in magic that are based on mathematics. It's a pity that even places like Hogwarts are infiltrated by pure-blood wizards, and under their operation, the subject is becoming less and less popular. So much so that today only a small percentage of young wizards are fortunate enough to learn this lesson.
After the arithmetic divination class, it is time to eat, and the break after lunch is used to write homework. Fortunately, Ryan had managed to make two quills similar to the ones Rita Skeeter had used before, which made it much easier for him and Hermione to do their homework.
"Wow, this thing is amazing. Can you sell us a few?" Ron asked enviously as Ryan and Hermione whispered the contents rustling on parchment with a white quill pen.
"This isn't for you, including Harry. Ryan gestured for the quills to stop writing, and then explained. "If you want to be proficient with this quill, you have to have a complete paper in your mind every time you write a paper. If you modify it, it will be very troublesome to use. With that, he let Ron try it out.
"You're right, this pen is probably only for you and Hermione. Ron said frustrated after trying it with a small half piece of discarded parchment. At least 1/3 of the parchment in front of him had been crossed out, which was the result of Ron's experimentation with a voice-activated quill earlier. I have to say that if you don't have a good draft in advance, it is more appropriate to write the paper by hand, word by word.
With the help of this new quill pen, Ryan was able to complete his homework for two classes during the day in just one lunch break. When the final stop was drawn, Ryan shook his hand and moved his wrist. Pack your things and get ready for the afternoon class.
When Ryan and the others walked out of the common room, they found that there was some chaos in the corridor at the entrance of the common room, and when everyone rushed out to class, they could see that many people were still a little confused about the new class schedule, and they didn't even know where to go to class. Fortunately, Professor McGonagall stood dutifully and directed the group to the correct classroom, and Ryan saw Professor McGonagall holding a piece of parchment pointing at the students.
"Lavender, your divination classroom is still upstairs. Professor McGonagall shouted to Lavender, who was huddled in a group of juniors, and then to the students in the other direction, "Davis, Mr. Davis, don't go that way! there's the women's restroom......"
Harry and Ron had come out earlier than Ryan, and since they hadn't prepared textbooks or materials, they were going to skip a lesson. At this time, I originally wanted to take a turn after finishing my homework, and by the way, I would take a look at the students who were preparing for class. At this time, seeing the chaos of their classmates, they were there gloating and smiling.
"Oops. Seeing Professor McGonagall's direction toward them, Ron immediately crouched down and tried to escape Professor McGonagall's sight. Harry tried to run when he saw that the situation was not good, but Professor McGonagall discovered it.
"Potter, Mr. Weasley!" Ron didn't hide from Professor McGonagall at all, and the two of them were discovered at once.
"Potter, I remember you had Potions class in the afternoon. Professor McGonagall asked with a stern look on her face.
"But we haven't prepared textbooks and materials in advance right now, and this lesson is estimated toβ"
"There are still materials and textbooks in the classroom, so you can use them first. Professor McGonagall said sternly, and then she saw Ryan and Hermione who had just come out of the common room.
"Mr. Liang, I'll give you a task. Professor McGonagall called a bewildered Ryan over, "I think you went to Potions class, and brought Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley, they seemed too happy. β
