SCP-075 Hurricane Snail
Item No: SCP-075
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-075 is to be kept in a Level 4 1mx1mx1m corrosion-resistant safe, which is to be kept in a secure room with the same corrosion-resistant treatment. The absolute humidity in the room should not exceed 1% at any one time. Pharmaceutical desiccant should be used at all times to ensure this humidity. In the event that the humidity in the 075 containment chamber reaches 1% or higher, all personnel are to be evacuated immediately, and the site is to be cordoned off until the humidity is back to acceptable levels.
All personnel entering SCP-075's containment chamber are to wear Level 4 polypropylene (MOPP) suits. Injection tests, as well as any tests that require the use of liquid solutions, are strictly prohibited. If any solution comes into contact with SCP-075, the area is to be immediately cordoned off and filled with desiccant until humidity returns to acceptable ranges. Evacuation of all personnel remaining in the area is strictly prohibited.
Description: SCP-075 is a large snail measuring 20 cm in length, 13 cm in width, and 15 cm in height, possessing a sturdy pseudopod consisting of 6 clawed tentacles. The 075 is unusually heavy, weighing around 860kg, a trait that we don't yet understand. Keeping the environment dry is currently the only known means of containing SCP-075, as SCP-075 would go into a dormant state in an almost completely dry environment.
When the environment is no longer dry, SCP-075 will move at a high speed that does not match its mass and size. It behaves like a predator, jumping at its prey and spraying it with a highly corrosive liquid secreted from the small holes in its pseudopods. These secretions are more corrosive than any substance known to man. Due to SCP-075's aggressive behavior after activation, this compound cannot be collected. To date, no material has been found that is completely resistant to the corrosion of this liquid.
Addendum 075-F: Attempts to collect SCP-075's secretions must be approved by all Level 4 personnel stationed on-site at the time, and must be conducted under their supervision. However, the approval of said personnel does not override the standard rule that it is strictly forbidden to bring any solution to SCP-075, including SCP-075's secretions.
Addendum 075-G: A glass of SCP-075's secretions has been successfully collected through the use of SCP-294, and testing is underway for any material that is immune to its corrosion. Testing is also ongoing as to why the cups given by SCP-294 are immune to corrosion from these secretions.
