In the spring of 1170, after Wang Chongyang's death in Bianliang, Henan, Qiu Chuji followed his fellow disciples Ma Yu, Tan Chuduan and Liu Chuxuan to Zhongnan Mountain in Shaanxi Province to visit Wang Chongyang's friends, and later moved Wang Chongyang to Zhongnan Mountain in 1172.
